Dear Friends,
Welcome to a happy new year with OTTOBRE design® kids 1/2021!
The turn of the year is often a time of dreams and wishes. While the past year has been exceptional and challenging, it has brought a lot of good too. The new lifestyle that revolves around the home has encouraged people to occupy themselves with traditional pastimes. Families spend more time together cooking, baking, gardening and so forth. Lots of sewing machines have also been dug out of closets and are now happily whirring away as their owners have rediscovered the joy of sewing.
During the past year, our sewing community has been joined by new sewing hobbyists and by those who wish to revive the skills they learned a long time ago. Therefore we eagerly started putting into practice one of the suggestions from our readers: It would be great if there was one single Ottobre issue that contains patterns for basic children’s clothes in all sizes.
An excellent idea! It’s easiest to start with straightforward basic designs made from familiar materials, such as sweatshirts, sweatpants, leggings, T-shirts and hoodies. No doubt, more experienced sewers will also be delighted by these patterns since these are all daily wear clothes that constantly need to be added to every growing child’s wardrobe.
We used our new basic patterns to create cheerful, colorful outfits with a fresh twist. We pepped them up with appliqués and used a lot of lovely printed fabrics. The garment construction techniques are however easy to master. The magazine contains detailed sewing instructions for each design, as well as beautiful photos where the clothes are modelled by children of various sizes. We believe that this issue will be an all-time bestseller and a dependable companion for every sewing enthusiast for years to come. Trends come and go but these basic designs will stand the test of time because they can be be revamped by varying the fabrics, colors and detailing.
In addition, this issue offers lots of other interesting items, including the much-requested CW 301 T-shirt pattern as well as garments designed by our child models: an oversized hoodie, a skateboard hoodie and sweatpants. You can browse and also buy our latest magazine issue on our website www.ottobredesign.com !
Do also enjoy the music we have chosen for this video! It is Chris Warner’s Wind In My Sails, with very rarely used woodwind instrument hackelphone.
Yours, Ottobre team
