Made this tonight for my Danish mother-in-law who loves and grew up eating beef tongue. It’s her love for a burrito de lengua that inspired me to make it. I found several recipes but this seemed the most tasty and very easy. I followed the recipe to the T and I impressed myself with the outcome. I’m Latina and grew up with all dishes both Mexican and Spanish. I’ve had tongue more times than I can count preferably tacos. I made beans and rice so we had our choice of burrito or taco. I made the very fast and easy salsa verde! The tongue I purchased was about 3.5 lbs and was enough for 8 people with seconds and just enough left over for a burrito for my kid who couldn’t make it. I will make this again especially since mi suegra can’t stop talking about it! Thank you so much for sharing this recipe! Excellent!

Loved it! In Finland, we also hide an almond in the rice porridge, but the person who finds it gets a year's full of good luck. I like the idea of winning a marzipan pig, though 😅

I Norway, we also win a marzipan pig if we find the almond in the porridge, but I would have preferred a year of good luck, as I don´t like marzipan. So it was never a prize for me 😅

Is there a recipe of the drink? Is the rum added to the wodka/jenever or did you put it in instead?

Rice pudding or not. It's a battle of words. But as a 68-year-old Dane, I have never seen or experienced Risalamande with lemon, alcohol and brown almonds. So I don't want to call this recipe typical Danish.

Absolutely, the base is traditional but we've put the Ottolenghi twist on it. We hope you enjoy it!
