After expressing my enjoyment over this recording I can tell you that I am old enough to have heard on BBC and become enthralled with the contemporaneous second recording of the same music by Master Ernest Lough. How fortunate I am at having the ability to listen to the old and the newer recordings.

The Ernest Lough version is unique. (in my opinion). Can never be bettered. You however make a distinction between the 1st & 2nd recordings. Not sure which is which. (I've heard both). But I mean the commercially released 45 rpm version. (Not 78).

Sophia Burgundy you have to 'learn' an essay?? not just write it? is the learning somehow part of the exam?

@@QHarefield yeah, kind of. By that I mean u have to remember all the melodic+harmonic+developmental etc devices. And the essay is just saying which devices are used where, with which text etc. So I write a draft essay at home, putting everything into sentences, then I have to learn off each point and write it during an exam eg. In verse one we only hear Sopranos with the accompaniment. They start on "for the beauty of the earth" with a rising scale and ostinato previously heard in the introduction, with 4-3 suspensions. And that's fine except theres a whole a4 page of it and you have to go through the whole song haha. I guess it's just something that has to be learnt and done, no point complaining too much.😂
