I have always loved Otway and Barrett, right from the start.

They were just joyous, and still make me smile and feel good today. I am from Belfast, and to have these guys around during the so-called " Troubles "was a massive boost to us who were having to live through it. Thanks lads.

A true independent spirit. Who knows what might have happened with a skilled band, a good producer, a manager with vision and aggressive marketing ? It didn't/couldn't/shouldn't have happened, but we have what we have and we'll never know. Accept, appreciate, remember and enjoy.

I, along with some friends, saw John in Belfast some years after this, and , despite the interruption of a bombscare he went on to play an absolute Stormer.

I didn't know there was any record of him before his first hit. This is around the time of his 21st birthday. Incredible.

My introduction to John and Wild Willie was them playing Really Free on the Old Grey Whistle Test when John nearly killed himself by trying to jump on the speakers and went flying. Pure chaos. I was an instant fan 😂😂

OMG,….is this your Channel John? You are an oddball hero of mine; I married the drummer in an all girl punk band and she turned me on to your stuff many moons ago. Delighted to have found this on youtube!!! headbutts!!!

Great stuff. He sounds a bit like Jagger on Misty Mountain. But has a Ray Davies look about him . Maybe he's their secret Love child ? lol

Been interested to see the full video since I saw a clip of it in the documentary. Great that it's finally uploaded.

Just to check - this is the infamous promotional film that turned out to be a waste of a fortune because he couldn't exhibit it in any record company offices? If so, that raises the question, which girl in the audience was his secret bit-on-the-side?

genius isn't for the masses they have to endure the Beatles, ABBA and Donny Osmond, you can only eat your cake when your teeth have fallen out and maggots are in the cake, looking at the audience it seems to be made of David Essex and Melanie Safka fans 🤓

I've always been of the opinion that there's tablets for what Otway has.

Apart from you and Will, who are the band members John?
@paulkendall62923 жыл бұрын
Me on bass, back in the days when I had more hair; the sadly departed Graham Dible on guitar and Nicko Allen on drums - gathered together specially for this bit of filming.

John Otway I knew it was early. Must have been 4-5 years before you played the mighty Station Hotel in Kirkcaldy. :-)

John, what possessed you to wear that shirt?
@alanmonaghan91943 жыл бұрын
December '76 you played Kirkcaldy, so this would be 3 years before.

@@TiberiusWallace That shirt is awesome. It seems to totally fit his personality based on the videos I have seen.
