What I love about Rahdo is that he lets himself get immersed in the game and theme. Even though he makes the argument that anything can be rethemed, he still completely buys into the presented theme. Where others need the theme to be very explicit, Rahdo takes the bare bones of the theme and wraps his story around it. Did the same thing with Spyrium.

This is why I love the work/effort you do. I'm am not sure if I would have known about this game and if so given it a second thought were it not for this video. I believe I can safely say that about quite a few of many of the games I now own many of which have become personal favorites. So while I may sound like a broken record thank you all of your time and effort in sharing your passion and experience with the rest of us.

Thank you for the review, Richard. I've been waiting for your review to decide whether or not to buy. The answer is a resounding "yes."

I agree with the contract text suggestion.

Poseidon (god of the sea) had a son named Otus. Maybe that's where the name comes from.

Yes, my thought the same. I think this is named after Otus.

Old German name, and the meaning of Otys is "wealth; son of Otto". Meaning of Otto is "wealth". I bet on this.

Thanks for the great review Rahdo. Was interested to hear your take on this one (I am a big Pearl Games fan). Marry Xmas to you and Jen out there in Malta! :)

Reminds me of Coal Baron which I very much enjoy. Would you say they are at all similar?
@rahdo6 жыл бұрын
not really. they both have the sort of elevator thing going on, but even in that they're pretty different :)

Some of your comments would suggest that you believe the majority of gamers understand English. I would be curious to learn what the statistics actually are. That being said, I own several games that are in a language I don't speak because it was economically feasible to do so. It was not a big issue and I learned some new things. Because of bad eyesight issues, I personally prefer icons to text, especially if I'm having to look at cards from across the table.
@rahdo6 жыл бұрын
i wasn't talking about text describing anything to do with gameplay in this case.

Disagree with the suggestion to add text. I much prefer games that work without text.
@rahdo6 жыл бұрын
it would work equally well with.

Text on cards easily create subtle rules conflicts or questions. Note I haven't played Otys. I'm just speaking in generalities.

All this 'text' is supposed to do, is give a name to all the items that are on the contract cards.
@shockwaveksah6 жыл бұрын
he just wants text for the cards to know what they are, it's just names for the contract cards
@ericaschaidt85886 жыл бұрын
Curt Carpenter for the most part one can never have too much information. The addition of text to a compent ie a card generally can only serve as an enhancement. Imo
