I swear I can no longer bear to hear the word „economy“ from people who do not have ANY clue how economy works.

I also know people who own homes way larger than necessary who complain about the economy...like you could afford to buy that in the first place. I'm almost 30 and not a homeowner yet nor will I be for a while. I have friends from India who say that oftentimes families live in small homes because they're just used to it and don't need more. I also don't see the point in anything larger than a townhome as long as I have community centers and public natural spaces. People have also been complaining they might have to go vegetarian, I've been vegetarian for nine years now and feel so free knowing I'm limiting my support to factory farms and saving a good $50+ a month on groceries. Plus no paper towels, just washable ones, and I keep my thermostat high in the summer and low in the winter out of feeling closer to nature. This was a bit of a rant but my point is that it is totally possible to adapt to life with less expense but Americans act like their lives are ending if they have to change their thermostat slightly to save money. (also trying not to say anything bad about people who really do have to do these things for survival, I'm talking about the Americans who feel entitled to a maximally comfortable life for cheap)

My brother became immersed in the Donald Trump cult, but for many years we agreed to not talk about politics in order to save our family relationship. But that got broken earlier this year, and quite frankly I am feeling peace at not having to tiptoe around him! My boss and his wife voted for Trump. I’ve worked there for 3 years and we are really close. He said he lost a friend who called him racist which he is not. He said that voting for Trump doesn’t mean you support all the bad stuff, that he hates the guy but wants the economy fixed. HER mother has a wealth of stories about life in Jim Crow Arkansas (she was born in 1936), with the one that I still remember vividly being that while on the train to Ohio, she had to use the bathroom, but the “colored” car didn’t have one, and she couldn’t use the one in the white cars; so she ended up having to hold in her pee until they crossed the Mason-Dixon Line (the boundary delineating the North from South), JUST TO USE THE BATHROOM! Get together on hollidays and limit your exposure on all other days. When she talks or comment politics, stay mum and ignore, if she insist, tell her that you dont want to discuss that topic, reorient the conversation. It is kind of having a sibling in an organized cult, dont cut her off, you may be her only way to reason and safety. As long as your own health and safety is not impacted, you can see her, if not, get away from her.

Im one of the few blacks in this gated lake community, and everything was great before Trump ran for office the first time. After that, it became very revealing how my neighbor friends felt about not only politics but morals in general. Because we are a lake community, we party together every weekend and for the past few years I have been a no show to everything we been invited to. My attitude hasn't changed when I speak and say hello but im not trying to hang out with anybody for real. I have an ex-work associate that I known for over 30 years, I 've known about her right wing belief's for a long time, as a matter of fact we had a very heated discussion about Trump, we did not communicate for over a year, out of the blue she called earlier this year and we started talking again, but I don't feel the same about her. We haven't spoken in about 3 weeks, I think she's ashamed to call, because of her vote, I'm certainly not going to call her. What makes the whole situation so agregious, is that we are both Nurses.
