Hey guys! I’m the Head Distiller at High Wire Distilling Co and made the Jimmy Red Sherry Cask Finished Bourbon that you included. Thank you so much for the kind words about our whiskey! I sent you a message on Instagram if you’d like to learn more about our distillery and other products. And yes, I can confirm that we’ve never sold anything we didn’t distill, age, and bottle at our facility in Charleston. Hope to talk to you soon!

Old Overholt is a Monongahela style rye, which refers to the river in western Pennsylvania. The Monongahela merges with the Allegheny River at Pittsburgh to form the Ohio River. FYI, this is the area of the United States that staged the Whiskey Rebellion back in the 1790's when a tax was placed on whiskey to pay the debt from the American Revolution.

bro trenton.. its ma-nonga-hay-la lmaooo. you are correct that it’s a river , it runs through Pittsburgh and the monangahala valley is this region. maybe the bottle is marked up elsewhere but its about a 40$ MSRP in the state liquor stores here

Trenton finally hit the "Okay, time to try new stuff" phase of being a bourbon/rye drinker. He's enjoying the unusual grains, finding scotch he likes, and realizing Anejo Tequila can be good. Won't be surprised if Trenton, who already spends tons on bottles, starts picking up some Extra Anejo Tequilas and putting them into videos. Some of those 7-9 year old EA's drink like a Bourbon that has hit of lemon zest on the back of the palate. Those bottles tend to be like $250+ but they are pretty great.

Being in Alberta, Canada we have limited access to a lot of things that seem to be readily available in the US. Yesterday I was chatting with a liquor store employee and he suggested I try Smoke Wagon unfiltered uncut. I got the batch 199, bottled in 2024. I picked up a lot of apples and cherry notes. Lots of baking spices as well. Would love for you to share you taught on it. I searched the channel and couldn’t find any mention of Smoke Wagon. Thank you again for you wonderful channel. Cheers! 😊

Yah! Finally some mix-it-up liquor variety videos. I bought the Rossville Union rye last November after an in-store sample was offered to me and I had to bring home a bottle it was so good. Some of the juice made from different corn varieties sounds really intriguing so I'll be looking for those. I can highly recommend El Tequileno Reposado tequila for a truly wonderful tasting juice from south of the border. People who don't enjoy tequila usually haven't tried a properly produced product. I know I'm late to the party, but I'll throw in a bit of clarification. The Monongahela (often shortened to "The Mon") is indeed a river. It starts in West Virginia and runs north through western Pennsylvania until it meets the Allegheny river in downtown Pittsburgh to form the Ohio River. The Monongahela River Valley was the center of American whiskey-making throughout most of the 19th century and "Monongahela Rye" was famous throughout the country. A. Overholt & Co.'s distillery in West Overton, PA is considered by some to have been the largest distillery in the US at it's peak. Unfortunately the distillery never recovered after prohibition, and was closed in the 1950s. The 80/20 rye/malt mashbill on this Beam-distilled A. Overholt rye was a common and popular mashbill in the 19th century when Monongahela rye was king.

Thanks for sharing content outside of bourbon you enjoy. I’ve started learning more about Tequila in the last year and it’s tough because there are very few rules that distillers have to follow. They can screw up a batch dump in vanilla and sell it at a premium. My favorite go to for tequila is Arette resposado. 80 proof great mouth feel sipper. And in North Carolina it’s $40 and not chased.

Rum is a great thing to get into right now, because the rum market is being held down by Bacardi similar to the way tequila was held down for a long time by Jose Ceurvo. You can get really fantastic bottles of rum right now for $40-70, that will eventually become $100+ bottles once people get away from Bacardi and realize how good a good rum can be. Two of my favorite rums right now are the Gosling's Old Rum and the Ron Centenario 25 Yr Gran Reserva, both are in the $60-70 range and are a steal at that price.
