You're very welcome Bob. I found it very peaceful to edit which was why we kept the music to a minimum on this one. Port Davey is so quiet we wanted to capture that silence on film. We love paddling around in canoes too and looked into getting a fold up tandem one as an alternative to inflatable kayaks.

Nice looking inflatable, I have been paddling fiberglass sea kayak for decades. I love it. Paddling is so quiet and I am able to see much more wildlife than I could in my power boat. Also in the ocean when river bar was closed by Coast Guard I could surf in to beach while others in power boats had to wait for the bar to get better. Love your channel. Life is good.

Excellent video! You guys out there so far away and making preparations to stay safe reminded of what I’ve been thinking: I enjoy watching sailing videos for all the adventures in distant places and to learn about repairs on different systems. Sailors speak of “Untie the lines!” “Off the grid!” “Freedom!” But I see that sooner or later they all need: navigation knowledge, navigation aid, music, drinking water, food, parts, repairs, places and tools to do repairs, to be rescued when they run into trouble, a way to communicate and internet service to remote work or upload/post their videos so they can continue their lifestyle. I don’t understand how many sailors forget how dependent they are on so many people in civilization to make their lifestyle possible.

Quite right. Everyone should remain aware of how much we are dependant on a stable, well functioning society making this possible. I hope that we get across that rather than getting some freedom, sailors are taking on more responsibility for themselves and their environment, so the rewards for the work are sweeter.

haven’t read all the comments but I checked with Transport NSW and their Roads and Maritime site states:”V sheet The V sheet is a fluorescent orange-red coloured sheet (1.8 x 1.2 metres minimum) with a large black V printed in the middle. V sheets are required to be carried by all vessels operating on open (ocean) waters. They can be spread over the deck of a boat or flown as a flag to indicate that you are in trouble.” so at least in NSW they would be a requirement.

Have you ever considered running an electric motor with Lithium battery on the Porta Boat? With the power generation you already have, the ability to use the battery on the yacht all the time and being able to get rid of the maintenance and fuel needs of the outboard it might be an option. Packing a 4wd for remote trips has some of the same constraints you speak of so dual purposing equipment is a good thing imo. A few guys I know run them on tinnies and are usually pleasantly surprised with just how much thrust they produce. Just a thought. Gotta say some of your drone shots are as good as I have seen anywhere. Cheers guys and thanks for another great video.

I used our Dream Pot to incubate. Great way to slow cook with minimal gas. And a yoghurt incubator!

Have you seen the alpaca pack crafts? They are designed to cross tarns and rivers while you hike. Some are even grade three white water and can carry a mountain bike. Retail around $1000 up though 😕

The town water in Dover used to come out of the esperance river. Run a bath and it was the colour of strong tea. Being brought up on it, used for drinking purposes etc. it wasn't boiled etc as it would be today and i don't know of anyone ever affected by it.No ill affects suffered well it Hasn't hurt me or my family anyway. No bottled water in them days..only got fizzy cordial on birthdays or when dad was too long at the pub. Enjoyable video , keep them coming. Cheers, Glenn.

newer sleeping mat can be lot smaller. and give you the same confort. (2 sleeping mat would use the same space as one) have a look. For computer I am about to test out a Pi4 with 8 gig ram... (low power computer that can be overclock if needed)

There used to be a superb couple of makes of folding kayaks, Klepper and Feathercraft, i haven't seen one of those for a while. Klepper boats used to be the ones used by the SG guys and they could be brokwn down into a big backpack. I almost bought a Feathercraft once : lovely boat...very expensive. I take a lot of my sailing principles from both open canoe and sea-kayak. Aboard my little sailing boat i still prefer a kayakers buoyancy aid over a lifejacket.

Hell yeah, FRS while it is nice and fresh out of the editting oven! A Pascy sized bag is a poor substitute! I like kayaks too because they can be quieter and therefore you can get closer to wildlife. Sometimes the gear requirements means a kayak is just not big enough then I use my canoe like a working barge! Plus you can shoot photos much more comfortably from a blind in a canoe unlike a kayak but both are great! On passing over logs just paddle at them ramming speed then lean back at the last moment and as the bow raises and the kayak high centers throw your weight forward and give a couple strokes. It should slip forward and slide right in. 😊 If the inflatable kayak would be stable enough Troy could have offered to let Pascy lay back on it with her hair hanging over and wash it for her while she watched the clouds float idly by which is a nice cheap way to be generous. (Win, win!)

I thought you two would be paddlers! We're on a 20 footer, which makes your boat look palatial. Always used inflatable kayaks as our tender. The exercise is good, the lack of engine noise is good, the packability is good. A dry bag for your day bag can go in the yak and keep the centre of gravity low.

The visibility is actually deceptive. What it is if you dive it is there is fresh water and salt water layers, and when you dive you go threw the salt and life is clear as a bell! strange place but worth diving!!

I was waiting for another ‘how’s the serenity’ haha. One of the original skin and frame commercial kayaks was the Klepper, German I think. If I remember correctly a German man paddled an epic voyage through the Asia pacific region when WW2 started and he was interred till the end of the war. I think the kayak is in the maritime museum in Sydney. I have wondered how a klepper would store on a boat and you have given me insight into the possibility.

I live on Black River Road. I guess that's easier to say than Salkehatchie River Road. We have lots of slow moving small rivers covered with large over hanging trees that drop their leaves in the water and keep it dark year round.

You are both looking healthy and relaxed. Those kayaks look like fun though kind of a pain to inflate and store. Compromises, like you said. Those crocks look hungry, and sneaky but I believe the two of you are used to them and know how to handle yourselves around them. That tannin tinged water is usually very clean and safe to drink. I live in Georgia, US, and have often camped and canoed in the Okefenokee swamp in southern GA where encountering alligators is common, as is drinking tannin water. The gators won't bother you if you are careful around them and the worst thing you can do is become complacent around them. The west side of Tasmania looks wild and wonderful - have a ball guys.

You guys should have set up as affilates and got discounts when you got the canoes. Same for the 406 gizmo, pack, lifejackts, drone, everything. Ill buy anything you suggest.
