I was born in January 1964. Adopted one month later. But it was not final for 1 year. For one year my folks loved me and took care care of me and held their breath.Lucky me, I was allowed to stay and they were the best parents. Thank you birth mom. you made the right choice and I love you.

Just my personal opinion but adoptions should not cost 60-80 grand. If a woman wants another woman to parent her baby the government should mind it's own business. Babies should not be sold. Seriously
@Flyonangelwings4
@Flyonangelwings4 5 жыл бұрын
Kristin Gallo yes and no. It should definitely be cheaper but keep in mind if it was free anyone could adopt and some people should really not be given the chance to do so.
@kristingallo2158
@kristingallo2158 5 жыл бұрын
@@Flyonangelwings4 some biological parents are neglectful or abusive. I'm saying that if my teen brothers girlfriend wants to give me her baby (I'm a mom anyways so 1 more doesn't make a difference) then the government should not charge me to raise my own family. In my opinion the government has way to much control over personal lives. Theres no test for who will be abusive and who won't. My father was a coach in a suburb but drank daily and beat me. My husband's mother was broke and alone but his childhood was way better than mine. If 2 women make a decision it should be theirs alone
@kendraknox8835

Kristin Gallo r u for real? I get what u mean about abusive people shouldn’t get given the chance but 1 more child makes a whole lot of difference. Your talking about somebody’s life u know. That child would no longer be a only child anymore, think about the costs and general bills I was a teen mum I’ve got 3 children and trust me that second child was a huge change so make sure you actually think about it. No hate btw.
@kristingallo2158

@@kendraknox8835 not in my life it doesn't. I raised 4 step children oldest is 22, took custody of my brother who is now 18 and I have 4 I gave birth to oldest is 12 youngest is 18 months. So no, one more makes no difference in my life. You either prioritize family or you want things. And my point on abuse is people think a big bank account and good job makes someone "decent" and a good person, but that's not how real life works. Diapers cost about 25 dollars a month, people say it's to expensive to take care of babies, but these same people will drop 800 on a new iPhone every year and spend hundreds on beauty products every month.

@@kendraknox8835 I'm a 37 year old married woman. Lmao. I've been a mother since I was 23. I had 3 in a row on top of step children. I know what taking care of children means. Some of us still like big families.

Very normal for adopted mothers to breastfeed their babies. Maternal instinct and having the equipment to do so. The stimulation of baby suckling increases likelihood.
@TammyLC
@TammyLC 5 жыл бұрын
There are medications the adopted mother can take that’ll help her produce milk. Sometimes, it works & sometimes it doesn’t. She’ll also have to pump in order to stimulate the breast/milk glands to produce milk. It usually takes months of pumping(ALL the time) & taking the meds to be able to breastfeed. Just all depends on the woman.

Adoption is free in the US if you go through the foster system. You have to be trained to be a foster parent and then once you foster a child or two, you can often adopt them if the parents are irresponsible, addicts, in prison, etc. The state or county (forget which agency...probably county) will even send you a small check to help cover some costs. Counties do this because it’s more expensive for them to pay for a child in foster care until the age of 18. If anyone is considering this, please consider adopting a middle school or high school aged child. At 18, they are left to fend for themselves.Most counties/states require they gain a skill in HS but it’s so sad that the state doesn’t pay for their college or at least cover their costs until 20. 18 is too young to be on their own. A lot of former foster kids are in prison today. They were locked up in a bad system as kids and now they’re locked up again! Sooo sad...

We are considering adoption and I am scared of the time frame where the birth parents could change their mind. What was your experience with that if you don’t mind sharing.
@thetbos6566
@thetbos6566 5 жыл бұрын
Hey @classicAshley. Yes the time frame when the birth parents can change their minds can be super overwhelming for some. How long is the time frame where you’re thinking of adopting from? We decided that no matter what, this little baby deserved to be loved without borders and that she needed the deep connection and attachment with us, just as any other baby deserves, in order to give her the best possible start to her life. We wanted to love her with our whole hearts, and if, by chance, her birth mom changed her mind then we’d deal with it if it happened, but we wanted to give Ethel everything we knew her little brain, body and heart needed, especially during that 30 day waiting period. We decided to be all in, even though it might have felt scary. To us, the cost to Ethel by keeping her at a distance to save our hearts from hurt was too high. For us, it wasn’t as super scary as some people describe the waiting period to be. I think because we truly believed that we were meant to be parents, that the right baby would come along for us to love, and that God’s timing is perfect, even if we couldn’t understand what that meant in the moment. But it is all a whirlwind and is crazy at times 😃. I say find your support system, your village, your close friends and family, and pull them close to you during the waiting period. Having support from people you trust can make this stage so much better!!!❤️ Also, if highly recommend the book “the primal wound” in preparation for adoption. It is brutally honest and hard to read, but sooo accurate and helpful in knowing what to expect in the world of adoption. Like I said, it’s hard, but so so good. We took our time reading it and it really helped shift our perspective on parenting, and understanding the dynamics of adoption on a persons life! So powerful. ❤️

The TBO'S Thank you so much for sharing that and the book recommendation! I will get a copy. We are in the very early stages (just google searches and KZbin videos to get an idea). It would likely be a few years away for us. I appreciate hearing how you handled it!

I hope it's ok to ask this, and I'm genuinely asking for myself. My husband and I are adopting and I'd LOVE to be able to breast feed. Did you do anything to prepare for that? Thanks and congrats!!! 👏👏🎉🎉😘😘

What? Can the adopted baby also drink from the breast of the woman who adopted the baby? I mean is there any milk inside the breast?🙂

DelicateSwiftie there are medications that women can take to make them lactate, so some adoptive mothers can actually breastfeed their adopted babies.
