Check out our brand new website: www.makedogrow.com
We've been cracking on with some snagging and last minute finishing touches in the ~almost~ most complete kitchen. Some decorating, some filling and protecting the 80 year old exposed wood with hard wax oil.
In between ticking off all these renovation tasks off our todo list we'll take you on a short tour of the house and discuss our renovation plans for 2024. Will we get it all done? We'll have to wait and see. But certainly, by the end of this video, we will have reached yet another exciting milestone - one certainly worthy of a small celebration.

Please do it at your pace, you will be more relaxed about the build. You haven’t the need to qualify why or what you’re doing it’s your home not the viewers,we are with you all the way. ❤❤❤❤😊😊😊

We are definitely changing the pace now but it’ll take us a while to unlearn the ‘get it done’ mentality. And we’re really trying not to get sucked into the ‘you should do that, you shouldn’t do that’ comments, but it’s not easy

"Next three years" sounds like a more realistic schedule for all your projects in the house. During that time you'll have to fit in all your garden work: planting, weeding, picking and preserving. You have your online businesses that help to finance your lifestyles, and from time to time, don't forget to smell the roses and have some fun. For the foreseeable future, there will never be a morning when you say, "I'm bored."

My advice - If you intend to start doing things yourself - take your time. Watch some videos to understand better or have someone show you and then learn through errors. You will get frustrated at times and pissed off when you have to undo and do something again but you'll never forget it and likely won't repeat the same mistake that lead to whatever upset you. People tend to forget that it's the errors that teach you, not immediate success.

The two of you are just great. Please detach from the social media bs and don't think that there's any reason for you to explain your decisions. You have no need for that as any other follower of yours will confirm gladly, I'm sure. I've been working for more than 20 years in construction + renovation and I still learnt a lot by watching your projects. Of course I too appreciate it when you explain why you did something in the way you did it but you shouldn't have to feel that you have to defend every approach/choice of yours before your audience. Both of you seem happy to have taken this huge step to move abroad and start from 0, and you have gathered quite a respectable number of followers/sub's actually and within a short time frame too. Be yourselves, please don't change and don't let others get to you.

Storage room first to get stuff out of the way and not have to keep moving it. Then duct/vent, electrics, and plumbing work that are in the ceiling as you can't do ceilings till that is done. Its much easier and takes far less time to not have to move cabinets or anything else to do ceilings. Just like with painting, work top down. Doing what needs to be done to make your work and access easier to complete the reno is working smarter not harder. You two are doing a great job with a high standard of finish. Kudos!

Nice to see you both back, think you may be slightly ambitious with your intended plans for the year! As you’ve both found out the hard way, you can not run on empty. Things take longer and become more complicated which then slows the project down and as a result of that you become very frustrated. In the ideal world everything would run nicely into place, we all know that just ‘ain’t gonna happen! There are times when you get so bogged down with something that you have to stop and walk away. Come back to it all again in the future. Please don’t be afraid of your viewers or what they might think if this was to happen. Have the courage to “just down tools” on that job, park it until later! We have seen you running on empty, we worried about your mental and physical health! We will still be watching you, got to now to see just how this make over turns out! Please remember you are doing this for you and not your audience! You both matter! I look forward to the next instalment. ❤

Hey lovely people. About restoring the windows (18:33ish)... don't know if you have thought of that or not but just venting here just in case you have not... maaaany years ago I had da factory of doors and windows and we had to make some pieces and the traditional method you would get strips of planned wood, cut the groove or make the recess in the border, depending the window style and glue all together with wood joinery and maybe some iron... what I ... I mean, what the carpenter found to be better for places whit 'eccentric' weather with very specific style is to get a painel of wood in the thickness or glue two panels of half the thickness, get the old window, trace the format, get a jigsaw and a router bit that match the curvature and remake the window from a solid panel. The expansion and contraction of the wood will be constant, you will have less issues with jamming, etc and if you decide to paint with color instead of stain you can even grab some cheaper panels on box stores and make these windows in a day... easy... the frame thow... with these brick/rock work... well... good luck with that...

For me, it was Kylie's 'Big Bathroom Sigh!'... Cut yourself some slack, dear. You've achieved so much already and, there's such a lot of loose ends to tie down, before individual projects can be finalised. But, once done, it's going to be one good looking space; and I'm here for it! However long it takes. I'm not going anywhere.... Your health and stress-free wellbeing comes first. Relax. Go and weed the garden - I enjoy watching that, too...

That's a three year plan in terms of the work needed... The only way to do these big projects is to prioritise then work methodically on one at a time. As you are well practiced at that, I know you will get there. The kitchen hot water is a win. You can also have bucket washes there for now until the shower is done upstairs.

I hope you take advantage of the sunshine before it gets too hot to enjoy it. You have a lovely piece of property. Take out a chair, soak up some vitamin D, and have a glass of wine or a cuppa. Ok, I realize this may be a sin to mention, but...have you considered buying a small used truck container (20'x8') that could be used in early stages for storage and a saw table or whatever. If you had a semi-permanent place that could be storage of building materials or furnishings or whatever, that gives you immediate elbow room for projects. Later, it could become a potting shed or a tool shed or a whatever shed. Do you have a place that a small container can be snuggled into your property?

For your restoration of the bathroom windows you could experiment with using laminated glass. Still works with the single pane style window frames but with the plastic layer between sheets of glass it doesn’t let the temperature through as fast. Readily available at glass shops here in Canada.

BTW: The Belfast Sink is a deep sink which was usually found in the kitchen for general cleaning duties, whilst the Butlers Sink (6 to 9 inches deep) was 'usually' found in or near the Butler's Pantry in big houses and was for the washing of silver and glassware, when each item was precious and had to be washed individually: Glasses hidden by a layer of soapy water invites accidents.

COMFORT ! Definitely should be a priority. Space and furniture where you can relax. If the heating/hot water is functioning, I would want a temporary shower.

Watch Rambling Wild Rosie u were talking about losing heat with ur windows.. She has original windows that she keeps as is but then in winter she has winter windows that fit over her original windows so she takes them off in summer then adds them back in winter...They look like regular windows that fit in place with clamps from the inside which makes them double pane..I think with the design of urs u could build a frame with a solid glass so u don't disturb the look of ur windows 😊

I cannot believe how much I had to scroll to find the channel of the two of you among all the click bait titles and half naked women who emigrated to Portugal... Hope you 2, eg 3 with the kitty, are doing well and benefit well enough from the YT monetization. You deserve much more exposure, many people would like you. But maybe you don't want that. =) If you do however, don't undervalue yourselves, a thing that's easy to forget about the happier you become, as you to 2. I'm happy for you.

Nothing wrong in having several goals - hard bit is to allow yourself them being done in your own pace. Guess we're all "perfomance-driven" - reason behind left aside - and the hard bit is to let this go in favour of your own life quality-driven life. Speaking suffered from burnout. Take care, folks!
