Our Bees Survived Winter on the Mountain

Yes, they do. Do you have your swarm trap up? We caught our first swarm today (Easter Sunday). We saw them move into the box this afternoon. Fingers crossed they stay.

We think that last year's hive would have survived if the bear had not gotten inside the fence and tossed the box around. Fingers crossed that the electric fence keeps them safe this year.

Great news. I watched NC this winter and it got very cold. Not like in 2022 but still these ladies are made of strong stuff. They’re out at very low temps, were they low on stores?

Not really sure. It was too cold to open up the hive. We'll take a look in a few weeks when it warms up a little bit more. They were wide open again 2 days later when the temp was low 50's.

Probably. And the bears didn't get inside the fence.
