Wow! Really cool video guys! The geyser is awesome. That big ball of webs boulder is amazing!😍 All of the botryoidal, druzy, crystals and that banded white stuff is so beautiful. The banded stuff might be banded calcite, I looked up picks of banded calcite and found one that looks just like it and it said it was found in Utah. The finer, more needle like crystals that look fragile might be a different form of calcite or something in the same family anyway. Such an phenomenal discovery and wonderful finds! I'm still catching up on your previous videos. Thanks for sharing Liz and Charlie! Take care.✌️🤠🤘

Thank you! Yes, you nailed it. After making this video and learning a bit more it turns out this was some lovely banded calcite. It's still the most amazing formation we've found on our own. Thanks for bringing back this sweet memory for us! Utah has some crazy stuff.

So I actually met my wife Ashley because she had skin cancer! I took her pre-op chest X-ray. She’s cancer free and we try to take sun protection very seriously. Anyway… that geyser was FASCINATING! I didn’t even know natural soda water geysers were a thing! You gotta come to Missouri sometime. I can take you to so many places that have similar formations. As awesome as that was… it was just like a tiny preview of what you can find in southeast Missouri. Haunted Ridge is basically 200 acres of that type of material. And… it’s just one spot! It’s all over southeast Missouri. Hydrothermal veins have been documented in Washington county that are 70 feet thick! You guys HAVE to come here! Whenever you head East hit me up! Arkansas quartz south and one of the best locations in the world for geodes to the north. Missouri and surrounding states are an absolute BONANZA if you know where to look 👍🏼

What a crazy way to meet your wife. Glad she's ok too. We would have had no idea Missouri had all that until watching your vids. We are so intrigued now and would definitely love to meet up when we get back that way. Hope you guys didn't get dumped on too much with snow this week.

What a great video! See a lot of my fellow favorite rockhounders in your comments. Glad I found your channel! I chose this video first because I have a good friend in Utah and he finds amazing rocks too. I can't believe how incredible that little mountain was, just so many cool rocks and interesting geology! I've actually been worrying lately about a spot on my back and already decided to call dermatologist tomorrow but your comments about skin cancer has me more concerned. Glad to hear you are cancer free. Look forward to all your upcoming adventures. Hello from Wisconsin!

Most of what you are calling quartz is actually gypsum or calcium sulfate. It is a salt that forms where water was once present. Gypsum does often form in crystals under the right conditions. If you were to pound some of your samples into powder you would find that it would turn a snowy white. Anyway, good finds and thank you for sharing.

Hey thank you. This has been a learning journey for us. Often times we look back on our older videos like this and wish we could add corrections. The world of minerals just gets bigger and bigger as we go.
@danielvonbose557
@danielvonbose557 5 ай бұрын
I think you're right, these are evaporate minerals, many of which are sulfates like gypsum which is pretty typical of early stages of evaporation of a body of water. Gypsum is very soft compared to quartz.

Water is so amazing, even in space it does some crazy stuff. It's so cool to see how flowing water can carve this earth surface into so many beautiful valleys and pretty rock formations, and I also love how it's constantly changing, water can transform anything. This was so much fun, I really enjoyed this exploration. That geyser is super cool, the history is awesome. The rocks you found are so interesting and unique, I loved them. Those botryoidals are insane. That's probably one of the coolest rocks I've see, it has everything. Your photography is beyond outstanding.
