The regular microphone is better over all for not getting caught on walls and improves sound quality for videos. Idle, it picks up holders audio across the map to the camera man, so you can walkie talkie it. When you right click it picks up other players voices. I just hold mic and hold right click at all times for better audio quality for spooktube views. And I use it to comm my location when we get separated.

The boom mic seems to be based on space around mic. But it's awkward to hold and gets stuck on polygons and is expensive. I just hold mic and right click at all times for views
