Mate! You were literally 5 miles from my house at Shell Ford👍🏼 it’s nice round there. I’ve seen a few vids of this show/meet now. Didn’t even realise it was happening. Looked good 😊 Edit.. that Sam’s a bloody legend I’ve used many of his vids to help out with our build

Awesome. Nice area that is. Yeah it was a good show that was. Same again next year for sure. Sam is a top bloke, it's very good of him to help out!!

Hi Gary Yeah the sliders are very common problem on Crafters and Sprinters. Mine gives me a tell tale squeak when cornering when the sliders starting to seize n the caliper is dragging. Give it a few miles before you replace anything else as the pads on the seized caliper side will be worn uneven and you might not be getting the full surface of the pad hitting the disc until it’s re-bedded in now the sliders fixed. The first time I did mine two sliders were seized and I had to remove the calipers and apply heat to them they were so seized. Nearly made a similar mistake with the new sliders first time as had removed both so had to strip other side to see which one went top. Easy done. Have a great time in Germany.

This is great advice. I think I've done 1200 miles since and no change. Bleed next and then I'll look at changing the hoses I think
@Basilbrush207 Жыл бұрын
@@TravelwithGaryandAmika okay well that should’ve been enough. Yes hoses are cheap so good next move. Also have you checked if any of the rear sliders are seized? You can usually tell if one face of the disc is more corroded than the other. Hope it works out

Presenting Gary........Cartwheel champ of van life fesitivals everywhere😉 Looks like it was a lot of fun at this one for sure . I feel your pain with the van. After what seems forever ripping out substandard work on Viv-i-van, she's now got new electrics etc and ready for the epic Crafty Campers camp out that Big Sam Anderson has put on in two weeks. I cant wait to meet new people. I hope you get to the bottom of what's happening with the van, Gary and just so's you know, though Amika is 50% of the channel, You are the other 50% and I for one will be looking forward to you venturing back to europe again. Incidentally, dont shout at me but I ,must have missed a vid where you fitted the fly netting....( not like me to ever miss a Gary and Amika vid) so can you tell me where you got them please :) Respect as always- Kenny

🤦 Amika you can't take your dad anywhere, sadly Gary in regards to the brake situation I have been there and got the T-shirt went further than you after going to about four main dealers complaining handbrake didn't feel right and being told nothing wrong it failed at a set of traffic lights on a hill luckily training kicked in (one very scared woman behind in small car 2t 4x4 rolling back) AA found adjuster's caked in dirt and not even looked at not only needed all brakes replacing (under warranty) but a new clutch. So you did the right thing as you carry a precious cargo
@TravelwithGaryandAmika Жыл бұрын
Bloody hell close call mate!!! Glad you saved that!
@jjohnpara Жыл бұрын
Its good that you sorted out the sliding pins. Cause every time you break they wont release and wheel will get hot and cost you more in fuel.. if the wheel has got extremely hot then the brake fluid could be burnt and damage caliper seals.. under inspection I like to see if the calipers are working fine and that they retract slightly back in when releasing the brake pedal. If all that is good i would look into the vacuum pipes on your servo and make sure you ant got any leaks. Having a faulty one way valve on your vacuum pipe can affect your breaking systems as it wont hold the vacuum.. Its not something people do but if you had your foot on the accelerator while you try to break you will notice the breaks are really Sharp. Thats be cause the engine create more vacuum at higher RPM. Petrol engines create vacuum off the engine. Diesel engines don't so there for they normally have a vacuum pump bolted on the alternator..
@TravelwithGaryandAmika Жыл бұрын
This has only just shown up. Thanks for the message. Yeah all the slider pins are free now. I think you may be right abiut the servo as when driving for a bit the brakes are sharp on first press and second press are spongy. When stationary if I apply the brakes firmly pressure goes and the pedal will go to the floor after about 10 seconds. Pumping makes it form but again if I apply hard pressure it will go to the floor. Defo feels like pressure is dropping
