It is very difficult and it was a tough decision that required a lot of thought at the time. I’ve experienced first hand many of these things people tell you about, some of which weren’t shared, but we both believe putting images out there for the masses to see will help in normalizing gay relationships and others just seeing us as other normal people in society. We are happy that especially in Jamaica we have been able to challenge people to be more inclusive in our own little way. Thanks for the love ☺️

As a 60+ year old (who still looks 40ish) physically challenged gay individual I have resolved to watching coming out stories and living vicariously through couples such as you two. I must say, of all the stories I've seen thus far yours (both parts 1 & 2) are the best. In fact, I'm sitting here almost in tears! You two are an amazing gorgeous couple who look damn good together! I am happy for your engagement and look forward to seeing pics from your upcoming wedding (which I hope you will post on youtube). Thank you again for sharing your story and I wish you the best in all life has to offer. What an inspiration you both are! May God continue to bless you. P.S. Continue to post your videos; I look forward to seeing more....

Hello again Brian and Alec (my new favorite couple). While I do appreciate your response and marvel at your relatively newfound relationship, I must confess that I was a bit taken aback by your receptiveness to the idea of "potentially" bringing a third party into your relationship. At the risk of being somewhat intrusive (but not meaning to), as an elder statesman who values "LOVE and COMMITMENT" and holds it to the highest esteem, I would encourage you to rethink this concept, even as a form of occasional recreation; this in my opinion is the quickest way to souring a relationship and bringing it to an abrupt end. What the two of you have now is beautiful and magnificent and quite honestly what I think many straight couples would kill for (including myself). Perhaps, I'm being a bit overly dramatic for this day and time, but being the incurable romantic that I am this is only my opinion. For goodness sakes you guys, please keep my fantasy alive! Much love to the both of you!!!

Hey Shelton 👋. We appreciate you being able to be open an honest with us as well as being invested in the success of our relationship so we haven’t taken any offense to you expressing your thoughts. In answering the question we have talked about it at length, and with most things that we talk about in our relationship we just haven’t listed out the “potential” of exploring that avenue as we know the nature of the relationship may change as we grow together. It really wasn’t meant as confirmation but like with anything, we know with time our views may change and at risk of people calling us out on being inconsistent we don’t knock anything being possible. As we said we feel no motivation at the moment to go that route so don’t worry the fantasy is still there! It’s the same view we have with additional children at the moment, however over time that may change too. We definitely cherish what we have and acknowledge the newness of it all too. I think what both of us took from being able to talk about these taboo things so candidly was us fostering an environment with each other where we can be extremely honest even when they may be difficult. So no plans on the table for such activities right now 😅.

Alec, your story touched my heart in so many ways. The love your mother has and displayed towards you brought me to tears. However, I feel both Brian and you have loving souls, so loving you both should come easily! From my experience, some of our older family members base their opinions on old traditions which has not evolved. However, we still love them and we find a way to look past their feelings and find our happiness and tribe. ❤ May God continue to bless the both of you!

I want to reinforce what you’ve been told before but your love story, your journey is so inspirational for those who are struggling with their lives as gay. For me. I was 54, divorced and a father before I was strong enough to come out and live MY truth. I am 6 videos in and plan on watching everyone. I’ve already cried a few times and sure I’ll cry lots more. To say I am in awe of your strength and dedication to each other would be an understatement. Being much older than you guys, seeing the courage and strength this younger generation has is so inspiring. Anyone throughout history that caused change to happen did so at great risk but they never backed down and brought change, which is exactly what you two are doing. But it is your strength and your love for each other that will continue to get you through those hurdles. I really enjoyed both these videos about your lives and coming out story. Continue to hold your heads high. I know it hurt you Alec, over your friends response to your coming out to her. A true friend would care about you unconditionally. That is how we weed out the ones who claim to be our friends compared to the ones who truly are our friends. For every negative person such as this, you will gain 3 or 4 more friends in their place. Just bless the negative ones on their way and move forward with the friends who prove themselves as your real friends. Thanks again for sharing! Changes are coming because of the two of you for the better. Be safe and be blessed!

Hello Brian and Alec! I appreciate your candid response to my expressed concern. I am always quick to take note of successful gay relationships and use them as an opportunity to quell the notion among opponents that "our love" is just as significant and meaningful as any other couple (and not simply about engaging in sexual proclivities). I've had friends over the years who have seemed to take a particular delight in exploiting their partners at the time (who were new to the experience) leaving them often to believe that there is no such thing as a true committed gay relationship; the idea of it simply being a game is therefore perpetuated, causing emotional hurt and distrust (among other partners they might encounter). So, again it is always refreshing to see couples like you who can support my idea that gay relationships can and do work. Thank you for being a positive example for those who might just be coming out or for the "straights" who feel their relationships are matchless. Take care guys and may God continue to be with you as you take the next step to matrimony!

Hey Shelton! We’re so happy to hear back from you. We truly mean it when it is that we say we appreciate your input and concern and of course we will always be as honest as we can with you. Even though it may be through just KZbin comments it’s amazing how much we grow to really have some sort of bond with you that we interact with and we can feel your concern and care through your words. We know how things in the community can be and we hope that we can continue to be some form of example (we know no one is perfect, but we can try! 😆) for a positive result. Thanks as always for the love! And hope you are taking care of yourself 😊💜

Most Jamaicans face that challenge of people asking, your such a nice and handsome guy, why don't you have a girlfriend. There are men out there now who have girl friends or wives and are suffering inside. Jamaica is such a beautiful place but a hard place for us to survive in. Alec, the way how your family and friends support you, its rare but amazing. I don't have that because everyone just push me aside but I will still keep my head up and stay focus. I love that saying too - you cant hurt me with what I've already accepted. Just to share though, the vibe between you two is so pure, its very uplifting. I really pray that no matter what, you both will remain together for a long time. They always say that gay relationships don't last too long however there are many that last a lifetime. Stay in that many 🙂

Hey James! Sorry for the late response. Yesss I think we all have been through that interrogation of when you going to settle down or why we don’t have girlfriends. I really do count myself as lucky though that my friends and family embrace me the way they do. I know that isn’t the reality for everyone especially in Jamaica. I must say though that it took me so long to come out (at 29) because in the back of my head I needed to make sure I was in a place where I knew financially I was not dependent on anyone and emotionally that I prepared myself for the possibility of things not ending positively. I’m sad to hear that you have been isolated the way you have, but in times like that if you even have one friend you can count on I would tell you to lean on them. Those friends are our chosen family and definitely help us to get through those hardships. We really appreciate those special and heartfelt words! We really are touched and we will try our best! Much love to you James. Stay blessed and keep safe. Much love to you from us 💜

I enjoyed the bloopers on the other video. I loved the quote added at the end of this one. Also, kudo's to you both for how you were able to navigate the storyline in a way that the viewer could understand.. sidenote: I've honestly been trying to figure out the connection to your channel. And tonight I realized you both give off "healing " energy. You don't speak over the viewer head, your word choice isn't harsh or judgemental.. you speak with us, with understanding, and it's comforting. These videos also reassure that noone is alone in a situation or feeling, there's someone somewhere who relates. ✨✨💙

We’re happy you were able to connect with them both! In our relationship we really have had to navigate differences between each other, especially when it came to language and culture so I think that definitely helps in us being able to communicate our thoughts to viewers in an easy to understand way. We’re happy to hear that we give off that “healing” energy of which you speak as we really do hope by sharing our experiences others in similar or adjacent situations feel comforted. It has been cathartic even for us to be sharing these things so publicly so not only does it help other people but it helps us heal and deal with our own traumas too by acknowledging them but realizing we have moved into a more positive space now in our lives 😊. Thanks for watching, and for the kind words! 💜

Alec how does your culture accept gay relationships? What was and is it like for you growing up gay and how did you manage your sexuality and emotions? How did you feel with your sexuality mentally emotionally and spiritually? At the end of the day you are still Alec and Brian 2 men whose only difference is your sexual preference. Your goals ambition purpose are still the same but you chose a male to fulfil and compliment you on this journey. Enjoy the journey and each other. Hello guys I was watching your wedding on TV and I could not leave a comment and it made me cry I am straight I stumbled on your video by watching other KZbinrs and I really like you guys Brian remind me of my husband who passed away the first expression that people get when they see him is that he looks mean but when they get to know him he's the sweetest thing. Alec ? I have not seen a video where it tells what kind of job you were doing before u got married the treats you made at your wedding I said he must had been a chef. Brian do not take this the wrong way but I think if you would cut your beard down a little it will bring out the handsomest more I always laugh and say not only you but people who has a very short haircut and a long beard it looks like the head is turned upside down still love you guys I'm going to keep watching and catch up as much as I can❤

Thank you so much 🥰🥰🥰. We feel so much love and acceptance in this space that we really never expected and really motivates us to continue spreading our story for others who can relate, and even for others who can’t do they can see what it’s like walking a different path. It is sad that safety is a legitimate concern for just “being” or living our truth. But unfortunately that has been and still is the reality in this world, when you are a minority of any kind, whether defined by race, culture, sexual orientation or gender identity, etc. But it’s good to see that there are many working towards inclusion, understanding and acceptance on many fronts and choose love everyday when they wake up. That to us is encouraging. Thanks so much for the love! And sending love your way too 💜

As a heterosexuals guy, I could never understand why heterosexuals' feel so offended by people in the LGBT community...Why be offended by people choices in life????.... I think it's guys not confident with their sexuality or just DL.... In the Caribbean I know it is rough being GAY, I watched guys getting physically abused... I remembered in College we had this guy from Jamaica transferring and this guys was out to make Gay guys life a living hell and funny enough he had no problem with LGBT females... I use to laugh at others being bullied, and when meeting my wife who was studying social service I realized I was fueling the fire by entertaining this fool... Live your life..... Anyways just came across your video..... Hope you keeping safe over there, cause I witness the struggle

We really appreciate your perspective as a heterosexual man. It really helps in being able to spread the message of inclusivity when it comes from the mouths of people outside of the queer community as well. There is definitely strength in numbers. It definitely has not been an easy journey for either of us, as for many in the community, but we definitely have seen so much improvement in society and are optimistic about the future that the progress will continue. We are keeping as safe as we can though, and luckily have a lot of support locally. Thanks for reaching out, we really appreciate the sentiments! Take care to you and your wife and thanks for spreading love!

We’re sorry to hear that you feel as though you are struggling and have no way out in regards to you group of friends. But I believe that if people really love you that even though complicated the love should speak more volumes than any differences you may have. Sometimes in this life we unfortunately have to lose to win and that includes people in our lives. I hope that you are able to find some sense of community with others in the future though where you feel you can be your full self without having to worry. It’s not an easy process by any means and you can go at your pace so no need to rush. We wish you luck with your journey and know we are here still if you do want to ask anything 💜

Hey Mark! I can only imagine how difficult it would have been growing up gay in Jamaica in that time. I've always told people even when I was growing up Jamaica felt like a very different place than it is now for gay men. I've been lucky enough to grow up in a time where we have seen some level of change for the better. I can only hope that it continues that way though and that one day we can live freely in the country of our birth. Im glad though that God carried you through and you have lived to be able to talk about your experience. Thanks so much for the kind words and sending love your way too! 💜

Hey Lorenzo. Well tbh the only explanation given at the time was because of teachings of the church and being uncomfortable with the thought. We had stopped talking for months after that. After posting this video we have been able to speak and agree to disagree on certain things, but made a commitment to try and work on accepting each other for who we are and moving forward with a more open and honest friendship while re-learning how to interact with one another in the healthiest way possible. That’s pretty unfortunate that you’ve had such a negative experience with Scorpios but i don’t judge people based on their signs. Alec has been the best thing that has happened to me and obviously one of the best relationships I’ve ever been in (hence the engagement). People that know Alec and have known him for his entire life have nothing but great things to say about him so there would be nothing for him to change. I love him for who he is then now and in the future. I hope you have better luck finding love with whichever sign your heart desires also thanks for your concern 💜

How bad is it really for gays in Jamaica?
@MeetTheMazelins
@MeetTheMazelins 2 жыл бұрын
Well the scale of experiences is very vast depending on what part of Jamaica you are in. I must say that admittedly in the last 5 or so years Jamaica has improved much when it comes to accepting persons of the LGBT community. Visitors generally have little to no problem if they are the popular areas of the island. However for those that live here the experience is quite different. Some may have the means to stay out of places where they may face major discrimination, but for most they are still scarred from how bad things used to be and believe showing any signs of “gayness” is a threat to their lives to put it frankly. Most of us regardless of where we come from can probably share several stories of our lives being threatened by the assumption alone. So it’s not common for people to “come out” in Jamaica. So even though things have improved in recent years it definitely is far from what we all would hope it would be, particularly for those living here. We hope that helped answer your question Gregory 🙂
