I genuinely think a big a contender to the success of Smosh this year is Angela. She has quickly grown to be one of the most beloved smosh members in only a year and the dynamics she has with Amanda, Chanse, and everyone else has made the videos so successful and such a joy to watch.

This 100%! This is why comments about "Ian and Anthony kicked the cast off the main channel!!!" and other such similar sentiments always bothered me, because it's not true. We now see the cast shine in a more purposeful way on Pit, Games, and Smoshcast, and their slow integration into the sketches is even more fun. I love seeing all the sides of the cast that they show us, from their acting selves to their BTS selves to their personality content and character work in the other channels. And all their praise and acknowledgement of the crew is proof that they too are contributing in major ways!

The content now is not only fun but also wholesome and equilibrated. Ian was and is an amazing boss but this teammate that Anthony is completes him so well with the fact that they both are the ones directly on charge. Yeah, they finally got it. I stopped watching Smosh for years, but back then during the Defy era, the videos I liked the best were the ones with the OG Smosh Games cast (Mari, Joven, Sohinki, Lasercorn), it was just that vibe of friends fucking around, and fun silly dynamics. But I think the general audience felt the same, that's why the Shayne & Damien duo was a favorite for the longest time. They were actual friends, that liked and knew each other, they had their own jokes and great chemistry. But is hard to maintain a whole channel on just a couple of people. Honestly, I think Daniel Terry is one of my favorite Amanda characters because he's just so different from what we're used to seeing her play. He was so soft and compassionate and just happy to be there, not a worry in the world but his doves, his mom and partner 😭 The bit where he would walk up to people like he was going to hit them and then hug them instead was SO fucking funny to me bc it was just so *NOT* typical of an Amanda character-like when he was walking towards, I think Spencer? the first time I was expecting it to go to a typical Amanda-character place, but it went the complete opposite direction and it was so funny and the surprise of it made it even funnier. Amanda is a happy, bright person which I feel like is why she plays characters so different from herself, but Daniel was just like... a *happy* character and I loved it. I would love to see more of him just to hear him talk more about like... what he does on his mom's farm when he doesn't have a work gig, or to see what other ways he resolves minor conflicts to not "get to that place" lol. I honestly love that so many cast members have played the chosen in their own way, and even though it never really feels like something Shaynes Chosen would say it still never out of character. Like The Chosen isn't super specific to one niche of guys, like how the character started out in Shaynes head, but he's more about mindset and attitude than specific interests. I feel like that really shines through in Chosen Moose Master where Angela doesn't know jack about the typical Shayne-and-Spencer Chosen topics but shines in her performance (also like, Chanse being The Chosen who faps is iconic).
@BrentSeven7 ай бұрын
You guys mentioned it but for me I think the reason y'all are hitting a peak is because it seems like everyone, cast and crew, is more encouraged to be themselves and share their own ideas where as the content before was very format based. All of the "newer" cast members (from over the past couple years) have really come into their own and any video with any cast member is entertaining because each of you have a uniquely interesting personality and sense of humour, and the videos now really highlight that more than they did years ago.

Man, it's really great that Anthony and Ian are having a great time now. Their segment where they talked about going on a writers' retreat to the Smosh sketch house really showed that they are really back in full swing and allowing themselves the comfort to make some great stuff. I'm very happy with the direction that Smosh is taking, and I think that this truly is their "Golden Era". Glad to experience it live. ❤

yesssss, after i had to skipp anthony’s funeral bc i just didnt have the disposable income for it at the time at all and was living off eating a few crackers a day (london uni student - she bROKE-broke) i actually told myself that no matter what i was gonna find a way to get a ticket to the next live show bc i had watched all the hype videos for the funeral knowing i wouldnt be able to afford it but being excited for them anyway, and being able to actually see the sitcom live show was just so healing to my little 4 heart who was still having a tantrum over missing the first live show (im literally an adult 😀) and got myself the most expensive ticket just because i could, and do u know what it could not have been more worth every penny - and also, honestly worth missing seeing the northern lights which came over england for the first time in like 50years or whatever (ive got not a clue how long or if its even ever happened b4) which is literally a bucket list item for me, but i was planning to take the trip to see it properly one day anyway 🫶

I think I found Smosh during Covid. I liked it, but I agree that this is the best it's ever been. It looks like a weight was lifted from everyone's faces Around 10:47 you get the start of "People want to see people be people" I absolutely agree. Both the theater episode and the live show that centered around breaking each other was awesome

I think the live show really embodied exactly what unites the old and new smosh fans. Friends goofing around while telling a story. Like there were moments where people really got to show off their skills (the Krungle rant, for one) and other times it was just constant corpsing and swapping out. Hell just hearing the cast laugh and heckle each other from off camera was perfect. I would love to see other performances like this with other formats (police procedural, for one).
@hernameispekka_Rebecca7 ай бұрын
I agree! This format was so fun and has such potential of becoming even greater as they finetune the pacing etc.

I never used to watch Smosh until last year when Anthony was announced to come back! Ever since I’ve seen both live shows, support everyone on the casts endeavors! what i like about ian and anthony is that they actually care about creating. they're not as interested about the corporative stuff as they just enjoy comedy and enjoy making videos. there's always those dudebros who keep wanting to talk about numbers and revenue and whatever - meanwhile this is over one hour of them talking about liking the comedy they put out and being happy other people like it too

I love it when the cast members play each other's characters. Sometimes, it's a serious take on the character, and sometimes it's them parodying the character so well it becomes canon.

I think their most underrated achievement is how they integrated the cast in the sketchs which helped the lapsed fans to warm up to them much better than back in the Defy time.

Smosh is in a Golden Era. And it is all about the people and their relationships. It feels real, because it is. Watching those distinct personalities share their passion, vulnerable side and connect with other members is amazing to watch. So many different dynamics we get to discover with them in real time. That a lot of them hang out in their free time here and there or actually help each other as friends, not just co-workers is something that can not be bought and transcends a singular format. Anyone leaving at this point would hurt, you guys created essentialy a real life daily "sitcom" of funny people at work sharing their time with us. That is truly unique. I know that Smosh is a "company" at its' core, but breaking down those hierachies and letting those talented people do their thing at eye-level took stuff beyond. That is as friendship as a company can get.

I’ve been a smosh fan since 2007 and watching the channel grow has been amazing. Grew up watching mainly their mid 2000s and their early 2010s videos (OG classic Smosh) back when Ian and Anthony used to do everything themselves filming on a camera and wrote their own sketches before the many evolutions. I’ve also witnessed almost every Smosh era since then. Loved Smosh Pit weekly with Mari, Lunchtime with Smosh, Shut Up Cartoons, the Smosh Games crew and also adjusted (grown to love) to the inclusion of Smosh Squad and how Smosh transitioned from a duo to a SNL range of comedians each with unique sense of humor! I’m proud of Ian and Anthony for being the solid core and carrying Smosh for (almost) 2 decades now. It’s surreal how much they’ve grown, went through hell and back, separated and rekindled their bond and they’re the definition of best friends.

Agreeeed I grew up watching Smosh since 2007 back when Ian and Anthony used to produce, write and direct their own sketches. I fell in love with smosh again in 2023 (after 6 years) once Anthony returned bc the vibe really wasn’t the same without the Ian and Anthony dynamic aka the solid core of what makes Smosh Smosh to me.

They may not admit it on camera, but as a viewer and a fan, it genuinely does feel like a golden age. The cast is funnier than ever, art and editing have been doing noticeably incredible work, and the variety of content always makes things feel fresh. It seems apparent from an outside perspective that Smosh is a non-toxic and safe work environment, and everyone appears whole-heartedly happy to be a part of it. I'm thankful for this time of Smosh, and so proud and happy for all of the incredible work everyone at the company is doing, and I hope it never ends. 🎉

The hardest part of being a KZbinr, from an outside perspective, seems to be figuring out how to grow with your audience. Smosh has actually figured out how to do that very well. Glad I grew up with these guys. Every new cast member/crew member seems like a new addition to a giant family.

that reddit stories comment about it being their opinions is so important. ppl often comment on amanda and chanse having consistently bad takes but truthfully, i think that’s the appeal of the show, hearing what other people think. how boring would it be if everyone said the same thing. i do think sometimes ppl will not listen to others or talk over and that is not okay. but having different takes is okay.

Anthony's presence alone brought this sudden boost to everyone and the content has been so good the past year. Like everyone's morale and creative juices just went up to 100 and haven't gone down since, it's good to see as someone who sadly stopped watching Smosh during the Every Blank Ever era where they did like a thousand of them and Anthony left and it just felt weird. It's good that things are going so well

@@hernameispekka_Rebecca I was just thinking the same thing recently. When I saw the first ridethrough of Tiana's Bayou Adventure, it made me remember that time Shayne, Courtney, and Damien tried to reride Splash Mountain as many times as they could. And that got me to thinking about the time the squad went to a department store and got holiday pictures taken in matching outfits. Or when they'd have episodes of EIOYI in restaurants. It would be fun to see the new cast take a couple of field trips together. Maybe not every week, but once or twice, anyway.

Another thing that in my opinion has contributed to the fans coming back, is that, SMOSH feels like a whole package now. All the channels feel like a part of the whole SMOSH. For example: Shayne and Spencer pranking Amanda about FNAF resulted in them playing the whole FNAF series in Smosh games. Courtney and Shayne's wedding announcement day, they did a funny skit in Smosh Mouth. These all make the viewer feel like they have found their slice of the internet here in Smosh. Smosh in DEFY days, didn't have that at all.

I honestly cant believe I slept on Smosh for so many years, once Anthony came back I started watching Smosh again after not having watched a single video since 2015 and was in middle school, at first I was only watching Ian and Anthony content but slowly I started getting into the pit and game channels and everybody that was on there I grew to love and relate to, but eventually after about a month I was only watching pit, games, cast and flashback and have been a daily Smosh viewer this past year. I'm so happy to hear its been going well and I'm not the only one who realized that Smosh has been making banger after banger since like 2020 when they separated from Defy.

I found Smosh from Reddit Stories reposted on FB cause I'm old but seeing emotionally intelligent Shayne hold down the panel drew me right in. I was delighted to find that Shayne and his values and presence are part of Smosh's wider ethos and seeing y'all excel sooooo much this year has been a joy. I'm a very happy purchaser of both Anthony's Funeral and the Sitcom, and I'm so proud to support y'all. I love pit and games content the most. Love the cast. Love the live streams.
