This is fast-becoming my favorite channel on KZbin. I'm drawn in by the love shown. I'm autistic and keep to myself. I'm envious of others, who are able to exhibit love both for natural beauty as well as for each other and are not ashamed to express emotion. I struggle with the latter. I'm very friendly, but it's limited. Your friendliness is limitless. It seems humanity falls into two categories: Bullies and Bullied. You can likely guess which one I've struggled with for 75 years. Autism exhibits itself in honesty, loyalty and unquestioning child-like acceptance of others. We automatically take people at face value and that often translates to "target". Yall seem to be genuine and I for one "PRECIATE" that. BTW - I'm fom Texas and we often leave off letters when we talk. Preciate yall!

Damn. Hopefully, your animals have some kind of shelter to take refuge in. It's pretty bad when a cow is shivering because it's so cold. It was -50°c where I live with Windchill a couple of weeks back. Pipes froze in the basement, had to turn the water off so they didn't burst.

I was in Northern Vermont for nearly a year, from one summer to the next... That was a Winter I won't forget... Just like what you're showing in this video. I don't think we hit minus 40 but I am damn sure I had the firepit roaring enough to chase the snow away from and off of everything near the fire pit. Picnic Table was buried in snow the first night of snow, the second night the snow was struggling to leave just a flake on that table. My stepfather's snowmobile was frozen and wouldn't start until he dragged it over to the firepit with the truck. Then that baby started right up. Didn't matter though... No one wanted to ride it when the snow was way over your head sitting on a Snow mobile. And the hike into the backwoods... Nothing more creepier than Silence in the forest... Every noise, if not muted, was muffled beyond belief. We distinctly heard the cracking of a tree way off in the distance, and could tell by the sound it was a waterlogged but frozen tree exploding and collapsing, but there was not Boom of the impact on the ground, it was one of the most hair raising sounds I ever heard. We found the tree in spring and yeah it was a HUGE Old Growth Maple and everywhere. How we couldn't hear those massive branches colliding into the ground and breaking up in the process... Just shocked us. Each branch may as well been another tree. That thing was Massive in the main stem. Had to have been at least Six maybe seven or more feet in diameter. The bigest branches were like four feet in diameter and had have been the lowest branches. I think the smallest brand was like around a foot in diameter, that is besides the little little ones ranging from finger width to twigs. It was insane seeing it during the thaw. And the thought ALWAYS crosses my mind... Poor animals that lived in that tree... But then it always comes back to, WELL THE BEAVERS HAVE A FEAST, it wasn't far from a Beaver Dammed pond... LOL!!! STAY SAFE UP THERE YOU GUYS... Love your videos. STAY WARM...

I'll bet Baja never sounded so good, eh? We had a week of cold (-15F), but then went back up to above freezing. Warmest winter I've ever experienced here. A far cry from the winters of my childhood. The high desert of Eastern Washington typically is winter from November to March, this year, we had a little winter in January. I'm ready for spring anyhow, bring on the camping and fishing. Keep up the good work, stay warm!

From a hunter and trail camera user next door in Alberta I find that regular alkaline batteries don't do so well in colder temps. Your best bet is to use lithium ion batteries even though they cost a bit more but they last longer and in lower temps. That said, the -45⁰C temps we had here were enough to stop my cams from sending me photos for a good week but they resumed when it warmed enough. Great episode by the way. Also, we need more Dave involvement soon lol
@ThatMattWhite10 ай бұрын
Trouble with Liion batteries is that you will _destroy_ them if you charge them at all when it's too cold. Alkaline batteries will charge very slow/not at all, but at least they won't be damaged.

This reminds me of when I was in the US Navy back in the late 80's... We were doing carrier qualification ops in the North Atlantic and wearing extreme foul weather gear with no skin exposed. And even then, only allowed outside of the skin of the ship on a 15 minute in/out rotation. I don’t remember the temperature, but it felt like the cold was penetrating my bones.

It didn't get that cold this year, but the last day of deer season I dropped 2, and it was -7 F. With the wind, it was cold enough that the blood was freezing to the knife blade and I could only field dress one deer before having to hike back to the house and thaw the knife. Then the tractor wouldn't start, so my wife and I loaded them in a garden cart, she pushed and I pulled, and we eventually got back to the house. We will remember that one.

Fahrenheit & Celsius scales meet at -40. Nice Elk & Moose! I spent 10 years of my young adult life in a wonderful community named Cold Lake. Why is it named that? Funny you should ask..... -40C not uncommon for extended periods. From early January thru to end February you could count on deep freeze temperatures -20C. The lake is a good size & I recall one summer there was still a chunk of ice floating around in June. 8 months of winter & 4 months of poor sledding haha. Many clear sunny days helped one get through it with half a smile. ;)

When it's Frickin Freezin, It's time for hot hands hand warmers They won't heat up out in the cold You've got to start them heating inside the house Put them on both ears held in place by your knit cap One large 18 hour patch on the back of your neck between your shoulders. Held in place by a well tied scarf. One in the palm of both hands and 2 boot warmers It won't be Frickin Freezin after that. Of course an electric vest like the ones they sell on eBay would be the show stopper With the vest and the Hot hands you will feel like it's 22F -5.5C
