Wow. That will be your masterpiece! All these weird angles, all these funny cuts... I agree when you say life is easier when everything is square! Next time, buy a pontoon boat 😉

I don't now how you take suggestions, but I realized you have good size gaps behind your Cabinets etc... You may want to build little U-shaped Tin Can sized Channels in those space, to facilitate, putting can s in the Top that will roll to the Bottom of the Concealed channel can storage... Thanks for sharing... Giant Hugs

We've been spending many hours building the last few weeks (as you can see in our videos) so we're a little delayed in posting videos. We hope you like the video and we look forward to your feedback on the results! Thanks for watching! Cheers!

Sure love how this is coming along. And no worries about the redo's. At the end of the day, one always has to go for it and assemble the first version to discover what we didn't know and go from there. Sure looks amazing and seeing these more complete layout projects really helps visualize how everything will look (AWESOME!). That was really funny at the end, "Cut, go to commercial!" :-) Wish you two the best!

The wood looks nice. BUT! IT is way to much. You should paint some walls white. Like in the head. Or in the Salon bulkheads white to break up all that dark wood . It's for me way to much. You don't want to walk into a dungeon. Thank you for this weeks video. Looking forward for the next one. So until next time, Aloha from the Big Island of Hawaii!

I wonder if the sheets of laminated wood are sufficiently strong for life at sea. It may be an idea to take a good number of framing strips that you may use if the laminated sheets do not prove strong enough. I am no expert on this. I think of old boats where plywood was often reinforced with framing strips.

I'm not sure screwing the door hinges into plywood end grain is going to be secure long-term.

The hinges won't be secured by the end grain, we're going to do something super special for this door. Stay tuned, we'll be building it soon! Cheers

All looks nice and dandy…but the additional weight of the entire interior construction might become a displacement issue…Hope you are keeping track of the added weight and consult a naval architect for his/her opinion…

Naval architecture??? I think this is gonna put it together take it apart, put it together, take it apart, put it together and take it apart series??? Boats that are much more complicated, such as tally ho get put together once, and only once Ito watch of DYI never have I seen somebody waste so much time after moving the boat, moving the boat and putting the boat together taking the boat apart moving the boat you get it???? I could’ve bought a boat with half the money spent and been sailing

This project has indeed had some unexpected setback, but it has seen just as many incredibly amazing things happen as well. Sometimes well laid plans can hit rough seas and such is life. It’s a good thing that this channel is about learning, building, creativity and finding solutions to all the problems we get thrown at us. Eyes on the horizon!

@fransdriesen1311 Hey Fran! We hear you! We are keeping an eye on the weight and we also plan on routing out some areas that is not visible or structural to cut down on some bulk. We can invite the engineer back to take a look on our progress. That’s a great idea! Cheers!

Why not make (quick) mock ups in (cheap) materials like osb or thin ply?
@lahakai
@lahakai 11 ай бұрын
Thin ply is def the way to go and we are using this technique now. The cabinet was built before with the CNC so it was already cut before we got to it.
@SteifWood
@SteifWood 11 ай бұрын
@@lahakai Glad you downsized the dependency on cnc. Unless you run a big production shop ala Beneteu or VW and have unlimited access to data power I cannot see it benefits a one off build like Lahakai. It happens I design new furniture (chair, table, etc) and every time I make plenty mock ups from sheets of osb and scrappy wood. With a boat with numerous "Odd" shaped angels/lengths/sizes I imagine this process should be similar. But all in all, Rome wasn't build in one day, practice makes errors that makes success, and you two (and helpers) do a fantastic job.
@lahakai

Totally agree! And thank you for your kind words and it means a lot to us knowing it’s coming from a pro! We are learning so much from the guys here and also all the great feedback from the videos. The process, though sometimes slow, is very rewarding! We appreciate the support!! Cheers! 🙌⛵️
