Travel tip, always travel in off season when you can. Less crowds, cheaper prices, interactions with locals, slower, quieter, so much better all around! I know its not always possible, but it's worth it!

Such a nice video! I never knew your opa en oma were Dutch! And how your Maiden name is Dutch as well. Must have been very special to stumble upon that shop in the place where your grandparents are from ❤ I’m Dutch as well and I never thought about spaces here having a certain smell or feeling that would transcend over generations and bring nostalgia ❤

Hi Janelle,, I laughed when you present Bern as a small town because it's the capital of Switzerland 😂 There are such beautiful places in our country: lakes, mountains, walking in the nature, archeological testimonies. Hope you can come back to discover them. I understand that in 6 weeks you can not visit a lot of each country. I totally understand that you spent 2 weeks in Italy which is one of my favorite countries : amazing landscapes, delicious food 💞 Thanks for sharing your trip❄️

Gday Janelle. This was enchanting & magical. Bringing back memories for me, some distant, some a little more recent 💙 I know about the 'pinch me moments' captured in time forever 💙 When also we smell something & or hear something & our senses take us right back to that memory & or those memories 😀 When you said about walking the very streets that your Oma & Opa walked, I know what you mean by that & have done that myself (in the context of historical & or friends/ aquaintances, not family) Also when I mesgd you & showed you I went also to Pansy & it was like walking in your footsteps as well 😀 sadly closed the day I was there for the Chrisy break, you got to go inside which was super wonderful 😀 Thanku 'sew' very much for sharing your incredible vacation with us & all your hard work as always. Ana. xx 🪡✂🧵🧶

Min 25: 05 = The little booklet you have in your hand, with cross stitch pictures, comes from DMC Garn. DMC is the manufacturer of embroidery threads worldwide. DMC is best known for its embroidery threads. The standard embroidery thread is “117MC Mouline Special”. It is characterized by its large color palette of almost 500 colors. What does DMC mean? Dollfus-Mieg et Compagnie (abbreviated DMC) is a German Alsatian textile company founded in 1746 by Jean-Henri Dollfus in Mulhouse, France. In the 20th century it was one of the largest European textile and industrial groups.

Thank you so much for taking us along for reminiscing on your beautiful trip! I did crack up at "a little town called Bern" - so characteristic of the way the capital city (!!) is viewed outside of Switzerland haha! My family moved there from Germany for a few years when I was a child and most people back home had not really heard of it/assumed Zürich was the capital. It really is a magical city with its own special vibes.

That’s a great question. Matt works for a tech start up and isn’t very active online. We both prefer to live in the moment instead of being on our phones/social media all the time. It was really eye opening to be at such beautiful spots during our time in Europe to then see 90% of people on their phones instead of taking in the views. We tried to have a healthy balance of capturing memories as well as having a lot of time with our phones completely away. I would share updates on my Instagram from time to time but usually only 1-2 times a week (when I really felt drawn to sharing) 😊

If you get around to a similar trip I would suggest you include Luxembourg on your list. The capital is beautiful. Would've also spared you the detour via Paris, but since you enjoyed Paris so much, it was a good call to detour. I live in Germany close to the Lux border, we have a lot of Roman buildings here. But since I am from here, I am kind of blind to it. I love to take the 1h train ride to Lux city, and just walk through the city, it's a totally different flair. I can really recommend it to anyone for a day trip, if they are already on a similar route like you were. Switzerland would make me claustrophobic with all the mountains left and right.

Oh ya Trier is one of the most beautiful cities, it’s closed to Luxembourg 😊
