France are the favourites. Then there's a group of about 5 teams that are all there, or thereabouts...and we're one of them. Ultimately our defence will either let us down, or Southgate will play too defensively to overcompensate for our poor defence. Probably semi finals for us

@@XDPROWoNDeRzI can’t speak for every French person. But I have a few reasons I don’t think we’ll win. 1. Over reliance on Mbappe. If he’s having an off day or being marked effectively we look devoid of ideas. 2. Lack of options at ST. Thuram isn’t clinical, Giroud doesn’t suit a counterattacking system, which is when we look most dangerous. Mbappe can play striker, he’s better at LW but also more reliant on his teammates to create chances. 3. Tactically poor. I appreciate what Deschamps has done for the team, but tactics have never been his strong suit. When a team plays a low block they don’t know what to do. The lack of offensive ideas has been particularly obvious recently. France have a somewhat similar issue to England in that way. Although Southgate is significantly more tactically inept. But our players often show up at big tournaments. I see Germany winning mainly due to Nagelsmann.

I don’t agree with Micah: Belgium were really unlucky at the 2018 World Cup and De Bruyne & Hazard played really well together (that comeback v Japan, the convincing win over Brazil) and only lost to France 1-0 in the semis with that classic defender’s header on a corner that often settles the tightest games. They also beat England twice that tournament, by the way.
