Our Family Was Denied At The Airport

We made it to Las Vegas to start our first leg of summer vacation! We had to check out the ‪@NinjaKidz‬ trampoline park in Las Vegas, then we travel to the Hoover Dam and Grand Canyon. We got off to a rocky start though when Hertz refused to rent us a car without a credit card.. since we were traveling from one state to another i had to book a flight out of Tulsa and they still wouldn't honor our reservation for a van... I ran into the same problem when I flew to Tucson. I booked a car through Enterprise online. They denied me because I didn't have a credit card. I was lucky enough to find a local rental company that took cash or debit card.

Were you renting that car one way or local? As the man explained in the video. If he were going local it wouldn't have been a problem, but he wanted to drop the car off in Tulsa not in Las Vegas where he rented it.

We don't use credit cards either. We have a debit bank card with a Visa or MasterCard logo. As long as you have that logo, you can run your debit bank card as "Credit" works like a charm. You won't put your PIN in but it still "debits" the same way it would if you did. Hope this helps. Beautiful vacay with the Fam!!! I'm a native AZ. It is beautiful! That's been their policy for 50 years. We couldn't rent a car, for years because of that. Even though we had letters from our employers etc.. we never got approved by Hertz but we by other smaller rental companies. Try other companies. Find one that works With you and give them your best business.

I have never been to the Grand Canyon. It truly is beautiful. When you and the boys were hiking trying to catch the sunset and were close to an edge my stomach literally did back flips. I am scared of heights and was panicking just watching. Thank you for taking us along on your family adventure.

My dad loved Dams, so when I was a kid we went to several, including the one you went too. Thank you for all different views of the Grand Canyon. The last time I was there I was a teenager, and was with my dad, youngest sister and only brother. That was 53 years ago. That sunset was beautiful!

We had that same difficulty. Our old Toyota was kind of sketchy for making our trip from Texas to visit the Ark Encounter in Kentucky. Well, we just left and used our old car and the Lord kept us safe the whole wonderful trip! 🙏

My father in law used to call Las Vegas "lost wages." Last time i went to the Grand Canyon was in 1971 when my family moved from Phoenix to Denver. It has been built up into a much bigger tourist trap now. I was 9 yrs old. We went to Las Vegas in 1986 on my honeymoon.

Credit cards can be ok if you pay them off each month. When my mother died, I needed to pay the funeral home, and since they wouldn't accept the debit card that I had to her account (joint) I used my credit card and paid it off with her account. Being smart is not charging more than you can pay at the time you charge.

I've used credit cards for years and almost always pay before being charged any interest or fees. You also get cash back and rewards for using even when we pay before interest I can't imagine traveling without a CC and never knew you could rent a car with Debit cards Y'all have a fun and save trip - God Bless

My old stomping grounds. My grandfather was a mason that helped build Hoover Dam. Lived in Flagstaff for many years. Last time I was at the canyon was in 78 when I was pregnant with my oldest. Vegas is definitely not a family vacation spot. LOL

How lucky to have a beautiful sunny day for the Grand Canyon! It was overcast and misty for our trip. When we went in 1988 with our kids, many of the amenities, trails, visitors center, shuttle buses were more primitive or nonexistent. Bumper to bumper traffic , inadequate parking. Back then, you found whatever parking you could along the road and walked to some designated viewpoints. Wasn’t the safest. Glad to see the improvements.

My husband impulsively told your kids to get back from the edge. I don't think we will be visiting the Grand Canyon any time soon. 😂 His fear of heights extended through the video. My son thought it was pretty impressive. My husband little brother used to work on the Hoover Dam. He took a big breath in on that one, too. I'm going to go with they want a cc to cover crazy drivers like my old roommate who jumped a curb, went airborne, and hit 2 cop cars 🤦🏼‍♀️. That ninja place was awesome! Glad you all are having fun. I went to Vegas for 25 years in a row for a business conference...last time being 2019 and Covid cancelled 2020.. have seen every show there, did a helicopter tour of the grand canyon and now I have no reason to go back..lol I would like to go to the sphere to see the show there though. Glad you guys had fun...and yes, the strip is definitely not for young eyes.

My dad had to attend a YMCA convention in Los Angeles, so we drove across country from Michigan, and got to stop and see the sights along the way. I've had that same exact experience with Hertz and other rental car companies. The ONLY way they would let me use my debit card was if I made the reservation more than 24 hours in advance.

My husband and i used to stay at the Excalibur alot! The bottom is geared for kids! We usually let my daughter bring a friend. And they even had their own room. And seeing the Excalibur show with the knight's and jousting.
