I just saw a video the other day where a lion or tiger zoo employee reached his hand and arm through a wider than normal space between bars and the cat grabbed his arm and killed him. Although it was filmed, you couldn't see much of the holding area where the attack took place. I wouldn't be getting too near a big cat myself.

Hmmm. I was not mmpressed to see caged wild animals in bare concrete with no stimulation. I would question whether they really do get the run of the garden when there are no visitors. So many barren cages. I saw no toys or enrichment activities that a 'sanctuary' would usually have. I feel strongly they should not be used as pets to make money by people poking at them. Animal Rahat needs to come over from India and properly inspect this place.

I noticed the bare cages. I have two chickens and they have toys. It is bare, but at least clean. It would be simple to provide them a ball, or a climbing structure, or unusual food choices. (live) If you don't give them things to think about, and a way to have fun alone, they just get depressed.

This is NOT appropriate care or a sanctuary. I have shared the link to Animal Defender’s International (ADI’s) video about their big cat sanctuary in South Africa. They have brought rescued big cats from all over the world there. Like all sanctuaries, they provide semi-natural environments in large enclosures, health monitoring and vet care as necessary and appropriate conditions. I have worked in advocacy for years and supported several sanctuaries. As well intentioned as they might be, any place that has a lion on a chain so they can interact with humans is just wrong. Sanctuaries are about helping abused and exploited animals heal physically and emotionally from years of abuse. That does not involve ongoing exploitation for the amusement of humans. These animals have known years of intimidation and fear at the hands of humans. The only way to give them freedom, dignity and peace is to remove that imposed human contact. This is a video of ADI sanctuary: kzbin.info/www/bejne/pGS0hqinq5ing5Ysi=LPxowtFXuG5ASDHP

Ive yet to see water in any of these cages. really hope they care for these animals properly, but even if they roam free when there is no visitors, it would seem they have visitors there often, maybe 8 hours a day and the enclosure the lions are in for visits is stark, empty, boring, uncomfortable looking, with no stimuli or water or anything. If they care so much for these animals, at least give them basics, like water, shelter, in the form f trees, bushes or something, and give them something to keep their minds occupied. A happy lion is a safer lion, and to keep them happy, keep them stimulated. I have a bad feeling about their future.

Lions are not pets. They are not meant to be touched or petted. They should not have chains. The only good reason to have lions is if you are a Wildlife Conservation, and those lions get a lot of space to roam and be themselves. Not this. Update: Chaining an animal in order to be pet against their will is bad for ANY animal. No matter if they’re wild or domesticated. Their body language expresses obvious discomfort.

I am not happy with lions that are held in cages. Some people say "different culture" but it is not so different. There are lions in zoos in my country too, but I believe, that this is not good too. Same with the birds. The cages are not looking very good. The birds may be bored. Unfortunately in Germany we have birds and big animals in zoos too. The cages are bigger and there are trees and gras inside. But I think, that they are still too small. Many animals don´t look happy in there. Humans should respect the natural habitats of animals and keep those natural habitats alive so the animals can live there.

I'm sorry those animals are in enclosures that are too small. They need to have some grass, trees, and water at the ready. They should have enclosures that don't resemble cages. Many of the birds are lacking mates as well. This makes me very sad.

With the exception of the lions, all of these animals are 100% domesticated stock. It is painful reading the idiocy of some of the commenters here who think it's somehow "caring" to release domestic birds into the wild to fend for themselves.

Someone thinking about getting a big cat? Get a Mainecoon, they’re hypo-allergenic, some look like lynxes and they have good attitudes. Spotted cats like Bengals and Savannah’s can be nasty unless they’re more than 3 gens domestic born and/or are 1/4 pure domestic hybrid, plus they need lots of room and cost much more. Ask me how I know… 😂

I think it's cool that some people are willing to keep lions. You can say that it's not ideal for wild animals to live like that, but these efforts can also help protect endangered animals from extinction. Lions are growing much rarer in the wild.

I cant fathom why you want to lock up these beautiful animals. They arent meant to be chained and caged. This is sad and I hate that people think they own everything. If they dont own it, and think theu should... they remove these animals from a life God intended for them, and cage them. What a misery to exsist in. I dont care if they walk in a garden for 3 hours a day. Wow... what a treat. Animals in misery for people to "own". The birds... the cats... this is disgusting.
