I have never heard of your fertility situation but I have had my own second hand fertility (multiple misscarriages before a viable pregnancy) so I sympathize with you and hurt with you! Hi sweetie - I have fully blocked fallopian tubes and I had to do ivf to conceive my second little boy. We did 2 rounds before success but we were blessed after using our frozen embryo ❤ Stay strong... it's a long road but so worth it in the end. I wish you many blessings xoxo

I'm so happy for you! I had to do two injections twice a day for 3 months for my IVF cycle when it actually "took". I wasn't able to put the needle in myself though. I remember I would just sing to distract myself because those needles had to go in over 1 1/2 inches deep. Ice packs were my friend. I know I was told live embryos work better (just meaning they weren't frozen) but they didn't work for me. My twins came from being frozen embryos. My doctor did tell me it had a higher chance of working before the age of 30 so you have plenty of time. When I was going thru all of this, nobody talked about this type of struggle in public - it's so refreshing to see your openness - your going to help so many people! I wish you the best!

So glad to hear you have an egg reserve! IVF is a good option since you do not know how long your egg reserve will last. Though IVF is not 100%, you have a great chance. Praying for numerous healthy, viable eggs for your retrieval!!! Good luck to you!

Laurathor Really? It's called a job with good benefits. My health insurance covers $20,000 in infertility treatments. It's all a matter of how much you want to have a child. The cost is expensive and it will take you giving up some of your splurges and and saving for those that aren't lucky enough to have health insurance that covers infertility.

Vanessa Harris 20,000 doesn't even come close to covering it and not everyone has good health care. Especially where she lives. And often it doesn't work on the first try. So yeah, I'm for real.

Laurathor Actually 20,000 is a real number. My family and I just finished going through IVF. If you have a medical condition that would require IVF your insurance will likely cover some if not all of it. Her condition sounds like it might. As for requiring multiple tries, the most expensive part is the egg retrieval and fertilization. If you have multiple eggs frozen “trying” multiple times will cost roughly 1500 each time. As for how someone can afford this, insurance is only part of it. My family and I have worked hard for our careers and our savings and are excited and willing to spend the money we have earned with our hard work in the goal of having a baby. We would rather spend it on a family than something materialistic.

I'm sorry you're not fertile enough to have kids the natural way, but have you consider adopting a child? If you want to go through the whole clinical and emotional process of IVF that's up to you, but we already live in an overpopulated world with millions of children dreaming of having a family! Why put two more unnecessary humans on earth... If it's just for the added benefit of having mini versions of you and your mate, that's a bit of an egocentric reason... Not to be mean, but I just don't get how people don't see the overpopulation problem and how they should maybe think twice before make kids, especially if their body isn't naturally able to provide them with some. It's nature's way, maybe it's an opportunity to broaden the scope of love...

Basic decency and diplomacy would render the average person capable of seeing that someone who’s just found out they’re infertile is not an appropriate audience for a rant about the selfishness of reproducing. As somebody educated to PhD level in a related discipline - the planet is not overpopulated - it is over-consuming. That is not merely a semantic difference. There are certainly PARTS of the world where the population is too high and climbing at too rapid a rate, but the USA is not one of them - indeed a good many Western nations are actually slipping toward or below the population replacement rate - below which serious problems lie. Have a look at what’s happening in Japan - people are now having vastly less numbers of babies, and it has sunk the country into a huge structural and economic catastrophe. In Denmark, the situation is looking as though it may go the same way and the government are having to try and actually INCENTIVISE having babies. It’s simply not the case that people need to be not having children - if people in most countries adopted that policy, you’d have the same situation as Japan is currently suffering - an aging population with not enough young people to care for them, to work, to keep the economy and indeed the entire country going. Regardless of which, to accuse a young woman who’s just found out she may never have children of her own of being egocentric for having about the most deeply ingrained human urge there is, is pretty odious. It is utter, utter naivety to expect people to overcome the instinct to have babies until a suitable number of children have been adopted - quite simply, that’s never going to happen, and to attempt to emotionally insult or pressurise infertile people into not seeking help for the sake of children in the care system will not work, and is a deeply unpleasant thing to do. Have you ever been pregnant? Adopted a child? Lost one? Found out you were infertile? I suspect not. So si’down.

Carlotta V 🙌🏼 So perfectly articulated! Some people are just so incredibly ignorant & lacking compassion... Adoption is an extremely tough path for a multitude of different reasons, & people who so flippantly make comments like, 'just adopt', very clearly have no idea what's involved. It's also a very personal decision for a couple to make, & it's not an option for everyone. Unless people have experienced infertility &/or loss first hand, they simply just don't get it.

S R I didn’t say it was universal - but for those that do have it, it’s certainly one of the most deeply ingrained instincts there is - which rather stands to reason, since its function is the continuation of the species. That doesn’t mean that everyone has it, or that anyone “should” have it - that’s not what I said. I did, however, say that it’s a total misunderstanding of statistics and geography to say the planet is overpopulated, that people in ordinarily or low populated nations certainly shouldn’t be “not having babies”, and it’s weird, unfeeling and insultingly rude to say all this to a woman who’s suffered as Lilian has. I get the impression that the person I’m responding to is very young, and clearly only has a very rudimentary (and inaccurate) grasp of population science, so I consider it’s worth correcting them. Perhaps even more important for them to know is that it’s grossly unacceptable to direct talk of population science and the “selfishness” of having babies to the newly infertile.

I am very much aware that adopting is a daunting process, but so is IVF, so that doesn't really make much of a difference in my mind. And I thought my message was pretty mindful and respectful, not aggressive like yours. Humans do practice over-consumption, but the problem of over-population does exist, especially since mentalities and perceptions on living consumption are changing very slowly, much more slowly that the rate of population growth. Also, I don't see how me not having children means that I cannot express my opinion on the matter. But my message was not mean to spread around my science, it was simply an invitation to consider all options.

clea samson I really don’t see how you can possibly claim that calling an infertile woman’s desire to have children egocentric is in any way mindful and thoughtful. And prefacing anything with “not to be mean” invariably means that what follows is likely to be interpreted as mean, so you can’t really protest innocent crossed wires there. I know my message was fairly cutting/cross, but I was responding to a comment I considered to be immensely unkind and rude, whereas your comment was in response to this (undoubtedly very difficult to film) video, so you’re comparing apples and oranges really. As I said, people are not having too many children in the USA, and even with the adjustment to lower rates of consumption proving problematically slow, fertility levels still cannot slip significantly below replacement rate without trouble. IVF and adoption are indeed both difficult and laborious and often traumatic, but in completely and colossally different ways - that there is little difference in your mind, in all frankness, shows a lack of insight into the psychological mechanics of a pregnancy - both the desire for and reality of one. I think you have to credit any competent adult going through either with having thought immensely carefully about doing so before they set sail. Attempting to pour scorn on their decision via KZbin comments is indicative that you haven’t. Your parental/loss/fertility status has no bearing on whether or not you can share an opinion on the matter in general but it will undoubtedly impact upon your ability to relate. And even if you had 15 children, this still wouldn’t be an appropriate place to share your thoughts on the moral status of someone’s hypothetical pregnancy. I’m struggling to understand how you can’t see that. You seem articulate enough to have the faculties to realise that it won’t change Lilian’s mind, so what on earth is the purpose, then? What did you actively intend when you went on an infertile woman’s soul-baring video to call her an egotist, implore her to consider ANOTHER brutally difficult process and spout inaccurate information about population data? Lillian even said in the video that she was keen to adopt in addition to having a biological child anyway - in what possible way is this a problematic notion? Children in the care system need adopting and babies need to be born - the two are not inherently opposing forces.
