you must first know about radiology before talking about it.. I am a resident in radiodiagnosis and your description is far from reality, you ug students also don't know what is happening behind the curtain!!

now a days clinician won't touch a patient of peritonitis without urgent usg abdomen, CTPA has a huge role in pulmonary artery embolism in emergency, you name any medical/ surgical emergency and I will tell you the corresponding emergency radiological investigation, they get done before looking at the patient, its just that radio people don't have much scut work or work they can get done from an intern, that's why they don't call interns to emergency duties and then ug students and interns do not have any idea about the work load.
