Tìm sự tự do. Tìm sự ấm no. Tìm sự công bằng.

As a Vietnamese, it's great seeing you guys enjoying your time here in Vietnam! It's been such a long time since we last people coming to our country so it's feels awesome to welcome you guys to our country. However, one thing worth noticing in this video is that the egg coffee that you guys tried in the beginning is a bit (if not really) expensive compared to the usual or common price. Even at Cafe Giảng (which is where egg coffee was "invented" by the way), a cup of egg coffee would only cost you 34k VND (approximately $1.50). If you have more time, you guys should definitely take a trip to Phú Quốc city - the first island city of Vietnam, or Côn Đảo island. Both have picture-like scenery and gorgeous beaches. A visit to the Mekong Delta down the south of Ho Chi Minh city would also be really interesting. The central provinces also have a lot to offer. Danang, Nha Trang and Hue are the three most visited provinces of the region. Danang has the Sơn Trà peninsula, lots of beautiful beaches, and in the nearby province - Quảng Nam, there is the Hoi An old town and the Mỹ Sơn ruins. Hue is renowned for its historical landmarks, such as the Imperial Citadel, the Tomb of Khải Định, Minh Mạng, etc. I'm currently living Nha Trang, and although it used to be a touristy and overcrowded destination, the city is now more peaceful compared to the pre-COVID19 period. You can come here and visit the Cham towers up the north of the city, visit the Chồng rocks, rent a motorbike and drive through the Lương Sơn pass to visit the small peaceful village, and definitely go island-hopping here. If you love getting off the beaten track, you can visit Quy Nhơn city, there are a handful of picturesque scenery there (such as Eo Gió, Phương Mai sand dunes, etc.), Ninh Thuận is also a good choice if you want to find out more about the less-touristy side of Vietnam. Further up in the north of the central region is Quảng Bình, where Sơn Đoong - the largest cave in the world- is located. The province also has lots of caves worth exploring. Another region that a lot of people tend to forget about is Tây Nguyên - The central highlands. You can take a trip to Đà Lạt, Gia Lai or Buôn Ma Thuột to find out about the culture of ethnic minorities in Vietnam and enjoy the more "mild" weather there. Speaking of "Tây" - which is the word for West in Vietnamese, the provinces of Tây Bắc - or Northwestern, are also worth a visit. I would highly recommend visiting Phú Thọ and Lào Cai provinces. The Northeast provinces, especially Hà Giang and Quảng Ninh, hold some of the most beautiful sceneries of our country. Apart from Ha Long Bay, you should also visit Cát Bà island, Yên Tử pagoda, and the Rock Plateau of Đồng Văn (in Hà Giang). The areas surrounding Hà Nội, such as Ninh Bình, also has lots of tourist destinations. If you want to visit all the important landmarks of our country (as I have mentioned above), it would probably take you at least 1 month of intense travelling lol. So basically, you are spoilt for choices when you come here. We are so happy to welcome you back to Vietnam, and we wish you the best of your journey!

FYI, the North Vietnamese tends to eat phở than the South Vietnamese. The food in HCM city is added with more sugar, while the food in Hanoi has more MSG. The food in the Central area has more balanced in flavor and spicier

"Bia hoi" is a very specific Hanoi thing, hence why you can't find it in Saigon. There are some amazing vegetarian Vietnamese eateries in Saigon, many that are run by Buddhist nuns, so you know the food has to be good because they eat it themselves.

My husband and I have really enjoyed your videos from Thailand and more so, from my homeland, Vietnam! Adopted from Vietnam during the Vietnam war, reside in England, UK. Have been fortunate enough to have visited Vietnam on numerous occasions on my own, with my husband our son. I highly recommend if time permits and renting a motor cycle the 'Hai Van Pass' road trip between Da Nang, where I originate! and Hue. Also, taking the Reunification Express train from the North to the South of Vietnam, traversing the S shape of Vietnam.. both journeys are mesmerizing scenic routes that will captivate you! You will wholeheartedly enjoy Vietnam! Further, Cat Ba Island, Ha Long Bay and the quieter extension of Ha Long Bay; Bai Tu Long Bay, much quieter, calmer and more serene! Ninh Binh, Ha Long Bay on land is enchanting! Not forgetting the rice terraces in Sapa, northern Vietnam and 'The Rice Bowl of Vietnam' the Mekong Delta, confluence and maze of rivers, swamps and islands and home to floating markets. Vietnam has unquestionably has contrasting and diverse landscapes. Your time in Vietnam will be astonishingly exotic and compelling! Unforgettable sensory overload experiences are everywhere in beautiful Vietnam! Wishing you both 'all the best' with your travels and 2 Passports 1 AMAZING Dream!

@@2Passports1Dream Sarah's right. People don't really show Vietnam's vegetarian dishes, which makes much sense considering most food vloggers and bloggers are non-vegetarian, but Vietnam is so vegetarian friendly. I believe it has something to do with the high percentage of Buddhists, but don't quote me on that.
@sarahnghile18682 жыл бұрын
@@aznmochibunny Yes it's highly associated with Buddhism or at least more spiritual than the West. I hope the vegetarian scene gets more coverage because it's not just an 'veg option' on a menu but more seperate with restaurants only serve vegetarian food.

Northern Vietnamese dishes have a lighter and more frugal taste than the South. Southern food is sweeter and fatter, and spices are added to the plate, creating a vibrant and delicious impression. Central food is salty and spicy because the climate there is cold. You should try Vietnamese sweets because they are delicious and diverse; there are also very few foreign KZbinrs filming these sweets. But these are also our quintessential dishes that are not inferior to Pho, banh mi.. When you eat PHở, use chopsticks with a shared spoon together, so you can always use soup while eating.
@2Passports1Dream2 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much! We just filmed a sweets video actually, stay tuned ;)
@vietle14792 жыл бұрын
Daniel: I believe the cooking style of central area not caused by cold, it's caused by land and weather , lot of sand and big storm every year, are not good for plant rice and raise animal for food, then salt added to make food reserve longer, everything spicy help create "taste" while people eat. The south high central may got cold but the lower part, close to sea isnt cold, even in summer when wind from west arrived, it's nightmare for hot and dry and people call it Gió Lào mean wind came from Laos.

Thank you for traveling in Vietnam. A little advice is that when eating Pho, you should add a slice of lemon and a little chili sauce so that when enjoying the dish it has a mild sour taste, moderately spicy so that the broth is richer and more delicious, accompanied by herbs to eat is great!

It seems like everyone has same reactions when they first come and see the traffic in Vietnam, also in the comments there’re lots of people complaining about it too. Yes we Vietnamese tired of it too, it’s chaotic with honks unorganized and doesn’t follow any rules. However it’s a big part of our life, honking has became a habit to warn and remind people that you’re in Vietnam streets not in the forest. We want to change and it’s changing but we can’t do it in one day, takes time to change everyone and their mindset and other aspects as well. Therefore, everyone before coming please learn it first, either accept it or leave it. Thank you and sorry for bad English:))
@2Passports1Dream2 жыл бұрын
It's so interesting to see how things work differently in different countries. Somehow the honking seems like part of daily life! We have learned to like it already. Instead of feeling stressed or worried when we hear a honk, it feels more like a 'hello I am here'. We even did a bit of honking ourselves today haha! Luckily the horns sound less loud in Vietnam!

Honking and the traffic is Vietnam. Many foreigners may have a problem initially, but then they grow to like it a lot. Many love driving in all that craziness as they think it's fun, which, it would be if you come from a country where strict traffic rules are enforced. It gives them more freedom whilst driving/riding in all that chaos.

Ho Chi Minh Cuisine and Ha Noi Cuisine are very different in flavor and seasoning (south vs north). in the south it's more flavorful (spicy & sweet) while the north is more rich. The list of food that you want to tried (egg coffee, banh mi, pho) are originally from the North, so if you want the most authentic flavor I recommend going there. There is a whole different set of local cuisine in the South Vietnam that you can tried in Ho Chi Minh city.

In Ho Chi Minh City, you can explore the Floating Market in the Mekong River. Or travel to Mui Ne, where there are desert sand mountains and the sea. In the central region, let's go to Da Nang - a touristic and livable city, then to the ancient town of Hoi An (unesco), and Hue (unesco) - the former royal capital. In the North, go to Hanoi to experience traditional cuisine and culture, then go to Sapa in the mountains, and go to Ha Long Bay - a natural wonder of the world. I've spent the week in Da Nang & Hoi An, and the constant honking has been very stressful for me. And even though I've crossed the street successfully, it is stressful to need to dodge so many cars and scooters, especially because in those 2 cities, they don't follow any rules. They drive on the wrong side of the street, on the sidewalk, wherever, and they don't keep a constant speed so it's really difficult to be a pedestrian here. (I used Grab successfully in Da Nang with a Thai phone number, so I'm surprised you had trouble.)

You're missing the point when you're living in Vietnam. We honk over here when someone is doing something wrong or when they want to have a road rage with someone, they honk over there to keep people aware and the honking is not even that loud. And btw, you're not dodging cars or scooters, matter of fact they are dodging you. Even a blind person can cross the street. The people over there live stress-free. They don't get stressed out easily and angry easily. You're putting the stress on yourself because you don't understand our way of life and culture.

I understand the feeling of any foreign friend who had been to VN the first time. It's scary at first but trust me, that's one of the most interesting adventure when you can overcome the fear and start to feel normal to it. It's like the childhood memory of any people here in VN. And also the bike riders are kind of flexible and good at riding more than the car driver. If you see they are looking ahead and see you, it means you are safe :))

@@iJuceYou I understand that, Chris. And by the way, the honking IS that loud when you come from a culture where there isn't constant honking. Just because it's not stressful for the locals doesn't mean it's not stressful for an outsider coming in for the first time.

@@2Passports1Dream When you buy a Pho, You pay like 10% for the Pho, 50% for the meat, and 40% for the broth. Also all the flavors are in the broth. So a wise person never left the broth. My rule of eating Pho is not using any additional chili/lime because it ruins the broth. Just add unless you know you need it. p/s; I am authentically raised with Pho in the North.

Egg coffee is like chicken seed soda (egg yolk). You add egg yolks and sweetened condensed milk, beat it until foamy (bubbles) then add 🍺 beer or soda as you like. That way you have 1 nutritious cup.

hello you two. You're such a lovely couple who came visit my country and basically do a free PR for our country. Just a little correction on this video, the banh mi Huynh Hoa is actually not cheap at all. 50k vnd is like half or full day of a blue collar worker's salary, back in 2014, the rate of minimum wage might have changed a bit, but i believe it's around there. Secondly, the little red sauce thingy that you had in your banh mi egg is actually not Siracha. Siracha actually tastes way different than that. If you pay close attention Siracha has this slight sourness. And Siracha is a made up product in America, just like Italians don't eat pineapple on pizza in Italy, we don't eat Siracha in Vietnam like it's not as common as it is in America or elsewhere in the world. Overall, y'all did such a good job, and I do appreciate your effort to bring our culture through your cousin enthusiasm to the world. Again thank you for your work , I do appreciate you both.
