We have watched a lot of KZbin videos about people buying items in the clearance section at different retail locations and selling them at full price on Amazon for a profit. We found it very intriguing and wanted to know for ourselves if it would be profitable so we decided to give it a shot!
We ended up going to HomeGoods, TJ Maxx, and Walmart. We came across some good items that we bought and ended up making a decent profit on Amazon! We are still beginners at this side hustle so we don’t know every little detail yet, but from what we could tell it seems to be a good and easy way to make some side income apart from a regular day job.
I still have a 9-5 job working from home as a salesman for a treadmill company. We are working towards financial freedom and are hoping that by creating some side hustles it will pay off in some way and allow us to have the time freedom of working when we would like to. (Still a long ways away from that. We know lol)

It’s tough to calculate things in the store and make a decision on the spot if something is worthwhile or not. Lot of pressure. You did good as beginners, next step is trying to limit to good sales ranks, which is really difficult as you don’t want to let deals slip (even if they obviously won’t sell!) good luck

In my experience lighter fluid works great taking those stickers out, just 1 drop wait a minute or so and with some twizers remove them.let me know if it works for you.

To be honest I like the idea of Private Labeling better. I think retail arbitrage is a good quick side hustle income but I don’t see it as a long-term business whereas Private Label you are creating a long-term brand/product. So I guess it just depends on where people are at in life and what they want!

Neither one. Wholesale is easier than you think. Just sophisticate your google search. Distributor and suppliers are literally around you. I literally found 2 of them from paying attention on the highway 🛣

Awesome video! Could u guys figure out about getting "ungated" or whatever that is that Amazon restricts certain brands ppl can sell. I feel nobody talks about that or even have it as one of the 1st things that ppl have to be concerned about. No point in going to the store and doing any of this if Amazon is going to say that brand cant be sold for whatever reason..

Amazing video, but I'm confused about the profit, for example for the first item it was purchased for 19.88$ and then after it sells it would be a profit of 2.16$ according to the app, but wouldn't it actually be a loss of -17,72$ since you bought it for 19.88$ and then walked out with 2.16$.

No, they bought it at $14 and would sell it at $32.99. After costs they would get around $8. They wouldn’t be recovering everything they spent but they would recovering almost a 60% of it. Not bad at all!

Great video! I have a couple questions though. So when you send to fulfillment center do you have to pay monthly or yearly for them to hold it? Also when you place an item on Amazon shop do they give you a template for listing the item description or do you have to write out your own? Any answer is appreciated thank you!

Great question! We have had an Amazon seller account open for almost 3 years because we create our own products and manufacture them from China. This was the first time we did retail arbitrage though. Since we had an account open for a while that’s why we were already ungated in certain categories. But again it was our first time doing retail arbitrage

I went to Walmart and apparently everything was restricted. I was only immediately approved for Dr.Teal products. Not much profit in it seeing its sold by almost everyone on amazon. You were lucky to find toys unrestricted. I can't get the profit calculator to work for me. I already sent out my 1st product but only 6 items since its the 1st try. I think i screwed up my taxes for next year as it doesnt show any profit earned or what i paid. Can you show the profit calculator on the app in more details ?

If they’ve been sitting for more than 6 months or a year, you need to tell Amazon if you want them to send them back to you, donate or dispose them, or keep them there for another extra fee.

I enjoyed the video. Retail arbitrage can be profitable if you go to the right stores at the right time. I still only sell on eBay though. I want to try to sell on Amazon but it is a whole new ball game for me.

I have been selling on eBay part time for over 10 years since I was 14. I think it would be great content to see your journey selling on eBay. Do you have to create a listing for the product or it will just be listed under the "Sold by Amazon" listing and when it sells Amazon will pay the profits? Also, if it gets listed under another listing, does this mean your products will join a sort of queue until they are sold? Thanks in advance!

Good question! So you don't have to make a new listing if it is already sold on Amazon. When you go to "add a product" you can choose to "sell a product" that is already listed on Amazon. And then you can choose the price of what you want to sell yours at. Hopefully that makes sense!
