Aww so glad you liked London. The Eye has crazy long lines and you probably had a better view from the Shard. You were brave doing the double decker, the open top would be more family friendly as it's for tourists, the normal deckers are for local travel xxxx

I had a feeling the can fam would want to sit up top and I was worried about them going up there because I know that these buses don't wait. Bad images were coming into my head. I've nearly fallen down the stairs so many times. The sight seeing bus would have been a better option

You can use your debit card or master card in the bus but it must be contactless, if you have a baby you need to get a place down back only with the buggy , and yes they are fast because they stick to the schedule or timing .

The reason why Notting Hill was so busy was because it was carnival season. Yes, the Oyster card is extremely expensive, especially if you had taken the underground/subway/metro system of London so thanks for letting me know about Uber, because I will definitely try it next time I visit London. Yes, the London bus drivers aren't always pleasant, as London is a depressing place to live in. I was born not very far from the Shard, got moved to Wales and then back. I have lived 6 hours by car south of Paris since August 2010 and would never return to live in London and I agree that it was unbearably hot in August 2019. It was across the whole of Western Europe all of the summer period of that year
