Next time just line a pot with aluminum pour hot water in, a few teaspoons of baking soda, put on stove and let simmer. Put in the silver for ten to twenty seconds depending on how tarnished the silver is, take out and wipe. So fast!! I did my mother's silverware cutlery set in less than an hour after being in hiding for over 35 years.
@jenniferprecise3428 ай бұрын
Stephanie, I have a "life hack" for you and your silver. You can actually polish silver using toothpaste. I buy the most inexpensive toothpaste I can find, and apply it with an old toothbrush or soft cloth/rag. The tarnish comes off and the silver smells lovely like mint when you're done.

@mining4goldmeister4207 ай бұрын
I get to feeling very sad every time I see a critical/negative comment on one of these videos. What I then think about is the sheer delight and anticipation I feel every time a new video pops up in my feed - knowing I get a privileged, private ( but not so private - right!?) glimpse into a very, very special world that encompasses a beautiful, magical home - and can appreciate all the hard work it took to make it beautiful as Stephanie is bringing us along on this AMAZING journey, the friendships that have blossomed along the way , the warmth and laughter, an openess of spirit and heart we seldom see today. How lucky and how blessed we are to share in such joy. We get to meet the most incredible people - seeing some of the joys and heartaches along the way. A living, breathing history of one great life and all the lives Stephanie has touched in such a wonderful way. To know and appreciate that each video takes hours of labor to produce. Seeing the world through another's eye is such a special thing. Gratefulness and respect go a long way. Most people that criticize are usually that way towards themselves. Sad!

I'm happy to hear the guests confirm what I believe -- the people at Lalande are as friendly and down to earth in real life as on the vlog. I don't doubt that there are downtimes as with everyone but character is clear. I remember when Pavlina arrived -- she was stunned -- she walked into the kitchen and there you all were, just the same she'd always seen on youtube. And she stayed. Best wishes to all.

Wonderful! Everyone looked so nice with hair done and Annalise never lets anyone down she over does herself always. Marie learned so very much at cooking school. She truly has the decorative talent. But she has the eye for it as she does with the arranging of flowers. sort of goes together! The work is alot but it is worth it to see the lovely faces of the guests and know they appreciate it all, and they feel it is home to them as well. making themselves so comfortable and feeling they can relax, says it all. Stephanie you certainly not only worked up a storm but then looked so stunning in your lovely dress and the Pink High heels. Nati always looks so smart and organized and giving this feeling to all as it is going as it should. Amaury wants everything just so, in order for anyone to see his 'Ingenius project" Perfectionist at heart. Poor Philip taking his turn to have to travel without you. It is hard, when you get used to doing all together though, After my husband and I retired, it started to change in this way, and being alone would seem very strange indeed. Can understand that feeling,

If you store the silver napkin rings in a ziplock lock bag, they'll stay tarnish free longer. It's the exposure to oxygen that creates the tarnish.

Steph, to clean silver, use a foil-lined dish, put your silverware in, add a liberal sprinkling of bi-carb soda. Then add 1 cup boiling water, it lifts the tarnish immediately. you just polished with a soft cloth. Very arthritis-friendly too. Love Carmel
@BDThomas7 ай бұрын
Yes, I use this to clean my silver jewelry (though I put a pinch of salt in the water... I don't remember why after all these years). The tarnish boils right off the silver and chemically bonds itself to the foil instead. It'd basically be considered somewhere between witchcraft and alchemy back when the chateau was built (lol) but it works!

Worst part of polishing silver right before you need it: trying to get all that black tarnish stain off your fingers afterward. And I'm bad about not checking the silver until it's time to use it, so I'm always furiously scrubbing my fingers just before the guests arrive! I agree it'd be nice to see all that, but I have the feeling Marie is a bit anxious getting up to speed at the start of the season. She doesn't seem to be an innately confident person, and so she will need time to feel comfortable with the prepping, cooking, and clean up of all the meals. Marie is a treasure, and she is clearly very talented and creative, so it's nice to see her shining and enjoying herself, but asking her to film on days she's trying to get guest meals created might be too much for her, certainly right now.
