Gula Melaka is a type of palm sugar made from the sap of flower buds from the coconut palm, or less commonly, other palms. It can be dense (rock sugar) and sticky or syrup. It commonly used and consumed in South-East-Asia such as Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore. kzbin.info/www/bejne/p6fRkGaEq5qkd9U The green stuff found in the Chendol dessert is actually made up from the Pandan leaf. kzbin.info/www/bejne/q3rZZaVtf7uSqNU

@@JenksandMatilda that jelly is actually called chendol made with mung bean flour I think. You need to try get those made with natural pandan juice (i.e. dull green instead of neon green). Singapore isn't as expensive as people think. So much there is free to do so no or little expense also the food at food courts is of no cost at all & the best tasting food around. Even taxi's are cheap I mean compared to the western world. Sure accommodation can be expensive but do the research you can stay in 3 star accommodation close to the river for less than 80 English pounds a night good video

Always slightly bemused by the practice of not eating the crust. Is it a posh thing? From crustless sandwiches? Singaporeans don’t mind the crust. Sometimes I even prefer the slice with the full crust from the end of the loaf. 😂

It’s actually an “old wives tale” in the uk that it made your hair go really curly so growing up most children including me (Matilda) didn’t like to eat it 😂 can be considered the “boring bit” too!
