Our first launch will take place from SaxaVord Spaceport UK on the Shetland Islands!

Imagine standing on the cliff in the background and watching the lift-off. What a landscape and what an atmosphere! A truly unique place for our first launch at the end of the year.

The commercial Spaceport in Shetland is ideally located for RFA to launch payloads at high cadence into polar and sun-synchronous orbits. Existing logistics and infrastructure, launch readiness, as well as rapid implementation and matching mentality were key factors why RFA chose to partner with SaxaVord.
The launch pad with the launch stool have already been finished since the end of 2022. After the completion of the entire launch pad and some tests, we will soon carry out static fire tests of our RFA ONE first stage there.

Wenn die RFA abhebt, wird das dem deutschsprachigen Teil vom #TeamSpace ganz sicher nicht entgehen. Sofern die RFA es entsprechend mit nem Stream füttern will / kann zumindest. :)

Go RFA! Vielleicht kann ich mir ja doch noch irgendwann den insgeheimen Traum erfüllen, mal einen Raketenstart live sehen zu können - in Europa bzw. am liebsten EURE Rakete von genau dort. Ist ja auch ne sehr schöne Natur dort. Mal sehen. :)

Wieso dieser Standort? Mir fallen außer der geringen Bevölkerungsdichte und dem vergleichsweise guten Zugang sonst nur Nachteile ein. Rauhe Salzwasserumgebung, oft schlechtes Wetter sowie ausschließlich hoch-inklinierte Orbits (~60 grad geodätische Breite)
