As a small local business owner (not flowers) , I couldn't agree with you more Eric. The burden can't be on the consumer to be almost 'guilted' into buying local. What are the benefits to the CONSUMER that they are local? Your flower stand is an experience / event and that is part of what seperates your brand. We have local grown peonies here at Trader Joe's for $9.99. So the whole locally grown message can't be the only branding for small scale flower farmers.

I love that you stay away from grants and tax exemption. People need to understand nothing is free. Keep meddling hands off my hard work, homeschool and life. Thank you! 😉

In Belgium, you can't make a lot of money on tulips I think. But The Netherlands are of course our neighbors! (We both are very small countries, you drive from one border to the next in about 3,5 hours 😂 ) At the supermarket you get 20 tulips for about 5 dollar (but it are the small ones) but they are pumping them out close to us. I think they are even selling them right now in winter. The specialty big tulips I never see at the supermarket. Those are perhaps in the flower shops (flower shops are very expensive over here)

Wowza! Yes that all makes sense tho.

@@CoramDeoFarm I never by flowers at the supermarket because they don't look very nice. I think I'm spoiled looking at all the beautiful flower farming video's on youtube. The quality is so different.

Just to reiterate your point about location and customer. I can sell an amazing amount of single stem dinnerplate dahlias for $4ea. but I can't sell a single stem of sunflowers at all - I tried. The vase time on the dinnerplates is 5-7 days while the vase life on the sunflowers is 10-12 days. Looking forward to the upcoming interview.

I pray everyday that I can turn a hobby into a business. I live in the suburbs. Have no land to grow on. Working with what I have. The good Lord knows his plan for my family but I would love to have the opportunity. Putting my trust in His plan. ❤

Question for your interview: Would you consider taking a mixed complementary palette of the same type of flower or do you really need volume of a single flower in the same color.

@CoramDeoFarm10 ай бұрын
Hi there! It is Latin for “before the face of God” which means we do everything in His presence, under His authority, and for His glory. that is our goal on our farm :)
