This is a funny story about blue and gold macaws. When my dad was in college, his fraternity brother had a blue and gold macaw, named Paco. My dad refers to Paco as “the worst.” But once, Paco was flying around campus, and got stuck in a tree. Someone called 911 and said “help, there’s a bird in a tree!” The very confused receptionist replied “yes, they do that,” and hung up. This was in the US, so it’s not typical for parrots to be in trees, but the man did not specify that there was a MACAW in a tree, in the North East US. They eventually got Paco back.

I just love these wonderful birds in all their amazing colours... but there is something I noticed and I'd like to ask you about .. why does none of you have a hyacinth macaw ? Are there any restrictions in the UK so that you are not allowed to have a hyacinth ? I know that hyacinthes are an endangerd species, but if they are from a serious breeder and you fullfill all the requirements (by law, for animal welfare, species-appropriate) this bird needs, you can have them here in Germany ..

Channels like this one help to reduce that I think. I know that watching this channel makes me very proud to be a Catalina Macaw, Congo African Gray, and Senegal parrot dad. They are certainly a lot of work and I don’t do much else other than hanging out with my birds on the weekends and after work on the weekdays.

We actually don’t. We use to in the past but found they would fail on us in heavily built up areas so just stopped using them.

Oh. Ok. That is not good. I am planning to net in my back yard/alfresco area - such that it is - to give my bird more space to fly around in outside. He is 23 years old so recall training is going slowly but surely. He is getting better at stepping up and jumping back to a perch, and occasionally he will give me a big wings. He loves giving kisses, and occasionally he will let me snuggle him for a treat. We have a long way to go before he is going to be able to fly free.

This seems like a dream party ! One thing I was wondering about these is, are all these birds tested for the 4 avian flu (like bornavirus and such) ? In canada i wouldn't even dare to go to a party like that with my bird because i'd be afraid she'd get something from coming in contact with another bird xD

1st do the neighbors ever complain about noise or bird poop. Have you helped Shelby get better? I think these videos are beautiful but worry they encourage people to get birds who are not aware of the time and cost involved.

it's definitely worth worrying about; parrots are the #1 re-homed pet on the planet, because so many people just see "pretty thing!" and get one without doing any research at all. but channels like these, which show both sides of owning parrots help to educate, and hopefully are reducing the number of impulse buys.
