Hey Lance! I'm a dog groomer. Early introductions to a grooming salon is very important for puppies. Even just a bath and getting their nails trimmed. Regular appointments every 6-7 weeks also helps with the shedding because it will remove any dead hair and skin, also promotes healthy hair growth =)

Congrats on the new pup! You're doing everything great so far. Be careful with the nylabones as those can break her teeth. My vet told me, if u can't see ur nail indent on the toy/bone- 9 times out of 10, it's too hard for a Puppies teeth. Great decision on the food!! Can't wait to see her grow.

Yay! Congrats Lance & Julia on your new Puppy, she's adorable! I grew up with a Cavalier - her name was Georgie, she was my Nanna's dog and the most gentle, sweet breed ever. When you guys eventually have a human baby, Hazel will be very good with a baby, most Cavaliers are! My personal advice after having a Puppy from 8 weeks old: Invest in good food - which you guys have, some dogs can struggle majorly with allergies and its usually environmental or dietary wise. When toilet training, take her out often - so she learns that outside is for potty, otherwise it may take her longer to potty train -- this is just tips I picked up when training my current dog!! You guys seem pretty knowledgeable already, so disregard anything that is already common knowledge!! Best of luck guys! She's adorable!!

@@jehaadsimons1449 I have an Staffordshire Bull Terrier now, as I can’t handle the long shedding fur of a Cavalier due to skin sensitivity. I grew up with a Cavalier - from a Baby to about 6yo - we rescued our first Staffy in 2016, she passed in 2018 and we got our first Staffy pup in 2019 - she’s 2 now and the most loveable dog and sweetest little thing too! Very cuddly. I didn’t mean to come across as only certain breeds are good or bad. It’s really down to how they’re bought up and trained - I’m my opinion!

She is absolutely adorable. I had a king charles cavalier mixed with bichon and he was the sweetest most caring pup ever. So I have a soft spot for these kind of dogs. The berry treats that you picked out helped potty train my new dog. Every time she went outside I gave her a berry treat. Trained very quickly using them.

She is too precious for words! I love the name Hazel, and King Charles Cavalier in general. Growing up, my family had a wired-hair fox terrier/lhasa apso mix that I loved with all my heart, and it broke when she passed away. Since then, I've always wanted a Lhasa Apso like her, and one day, it will happen. My family is in the process of negotiating with each other for a dog, so wish us luck. Can't wait to see Hazel grow "pup" into a big strong doggo!

It's better for dogs to have rugs down because, like you saw, she likes being on her bed or rug. Be careful where you make her run. Pups are clumsy and with slippery floors she can get hurt. She is so adorable! I wish I could hug her! Enjoy your bundle of joy. Also rawhide bones are not good for dogs, they can choke on them and they can't digest them. ^^

Hey lance! Congrats on the new puppy 💕 one word of advice when buying things for the new pup, try to avoid toys with strings on them! Like the tug a war ropes and what not! Those strings can be extremely dangerous for their intestines if any of the strings fall of and get swallowed!

Congratulations on getting your first dog together, she’s super cute! You may not even see this comment, it’s not to brag or anything like that, it’s a caring comment. Super big fan of your videos for the last 2-3 years. I’m a trainee dog behaviourist and currently work in a daycare centre in the UK for 2-3. I’ve worked with dogs for the last 6-7 years. Great job on the food your giving her, holistic and natural, if you want a natural wormer then pumpkin seeds are great! You may find she’s active for an hour, then will sleep for an hour. When she gets a bit whiny it will be down to tiredness, so putting her in her crate/pen for sleep is a good idea, some pups will just go and go, so you may find you need to tuck her in to bed 😂 The growth plates will generally close at about 9 months, meaning that’s when she’ll likely be fully grown. First season is between 6-9 months generally. Some females after their first season may find themselves having a phantom pregnancy. But she’s got ages before that stage yet! If your looking for ideas to tire her out, or keep her busy then brain games are the way to go. Nina Ottosson does some great ones, you can find these on Amazon! Lickimats, Kongs, Snufffle mats etc are all great, they will mentally stimulate her without doing too much physical activity. Through studying and research the golden rule for walking is 5 minutes to 1 month of age. This is because her joints are not fully formed yet, they’re basically floating around. Some people have tried to tire their puppies out through 1-2 hour walks which have caused anatomical problems in adolescence including stunted growth 😔 too much physical exercise at an early age can cause ‘over tiredness’ where they get really cranky. Why may also help with potty training is having Bells that hang on your back door, and you can teach her to ring the bells when she wants to go potty outside! They’re very intelligent dogs, as Julia will know! Super happy for you both, she’s very lucky and I know you will be amazing owners 😃

Hey Lance, The dog booties are for the dogs who have trouble walking. I bought a pair for my shepherd that had dm. He would drag his back paws when he first got it. When I put him in his wheel chair I used those booties as well. Congrats on the pup and hug and prayers for grandma.
