Hi, I'm from Germany. In my Opinion is this Video in context with the Lyrics an absolute Masterpiece. Rammstein is playing a classic "Industrial Metal" style. A 50-50 mix of synthesizers and hard metal guitarrs. A big part of the German history in one video. The black woman as Germania. Germania is the Mother of the German Nation. The red Light discribe a red thread through the history of Germany. The glass coffin: It is Little Snow White from the Grimm-fairytales....and from their own video "Sonne". Only with black skin and in space. The piano song at the end is the song "Sonne", too. The battle of the Teutoburg forrest against the Romans (and Rammstein as Roman soldiers and Germans alike). That battle is of ABSOLUTE importance for the German history. The hanged bodies in the trees were the beaten Roman soldiers, who were gruesome sacrificed to the Germanic gods...and were partly nailed to the trees. The Varus-(Teutoburg)-Battle was already in 9 AD. In 16 AD were the vengeance campaigns of Emperor Germanicus. Therefore we see here the arrival of the Roman troops of Germanicus and they are watching their dead comrades hanging in the trees or getting their heads chopped off (for nailing them to the trees). In reality the Romans under Germanicus found only the bones of the Varus army in the various ways they were slaughtered, sacrificed and displayed at the trees. Slaves were liberated even decades after the battle. After the scenes with the Romans we saw the Hindenburg Zeppelin disaster (the burning Zeppelin in the background). The moustaches and clothing from the fight scene are from WWI and post WWI years. From the working class people in WWI and the roaring 20's. In the WWII years later on this kind of big bushy moustache was already out of fashion. The V2 rocket (first manmade object in space) as technical triumph of the German spirit...and at the same time the killing of the concentration camp prisoners in the bunker factories below the mountains during the production of that rocket. This scene in the video could be a representation of a very specific concentration camp. It was "Mittelbau-Dora" below the Kohnstein mountain. A mixture between a big, huge bunker factory for V1 and V2 rockets and a concentration camp. The concentration camp inmates had several different markings for different kinds of convicts and their "crimes" sown to their chests, like it was in reality, too. A pink triangle for homosexuals, the star of David for Jews and two of them were marked with the double-triangles for Jehovas Whitnesses. The book burnings of the Nazis and the burning of the witches of the church. In the same scene with the book burning there is EVEN MORE going on. The cooperation of the church with the Nazis, when the priest with the cross embraces the Nazi SA-man. The scene with the sign with the Hammer and a pair of compasses in a circle of wheat is the sign of the GDR (DDR). The socialst German state in the east that existed before the German reunification. Therefore it was Karl Marx in the background in the scene with the tank (not the scene at the concentration camp). The scene with Rammstein wielding guns (the pumpgun) and taking Germania hostage was about leftwing terrorism of the 1970's. The terrorists were called the RAF (Rote Armee Fraktion). The Baader-Meinhof-Group and Till as Ulrike Meinhof. PS: As for the dogs: Germans are fanatical dog lovers. We are a dog-owner nation. Our Dogs are a Member in the Family. The dog is a firm part of Germany and this Dogs are Leonberger. PPS: They didn't eat the body of the woman and her inner organs, even if it really looked that way. They were eating the national dish of Germany, that was put on the body of the black woman: Sauerkraut, Kassler & sausages. In my opinion it symbolizes the church eating itself fat on the goods and values and food of Germany during the simple people (farmers, simple workers etc) lived a long time in a kind of hell of poverty and serfdom (the red fetish area below the table with Germania on it). But that eating scene could indeed have a double meaning. It could represent the 30 years war, that was fought for religious reasons and depopulated large areas of Germany. It forced the people to commit canibalism because nobody was there anymore to produce food. Except the fat, wealthy people of the church, of course. They were still able to eat enough. Only the simple people at the bottom (farmers etc) died from hunger and had to fight and die in that war. The 30 years war was the biggest catastrophe in Germany until WWI happened. PPPS: The short scene with the dogs and their gas masks = WWI, where in reality animals (messenger dogs & horses) AND soldiers were wearing gas masks, too. PPPPS: The puppies at the end are Leonberger dogs. The Leonbergers nearly went extinct during WWI and WWII. PPPPPS: My interpretation of the glass coffin is Little Snow White in space, like I wrote before. PPPPPPS: The black woman in the prison was dressed in a Prussian uniform with a Prussian helmet. Finally: The scenes I'm now talking about are pretty dark and low light. The WWII submarine in the submarine bunker during the astronauts are walking by with the glass coffin. I think, the choice of the black woman as main actress was made, because: a) it makes any accusations of racism and fascism against Rammstein useless b) she represents one colour of the German flag and she is wearing the rest of the colours of our German flag as makeup and jewellery and clothes on her body: Black, Red and Gold c) it provokes many people EVEN MORE

It's sad that some people can't see past the concentration camp scene to realize the full meaning of the song (speaking as a jew). I don't know who my great grandparents are due to the Holocaust, but I don't hold it against any German, and especially against Rammstein for producing this masterpiece. It's about so much more than the Holocaust, so much more than the jews- in the hanging scene, there are Jews, political prisoners, a gay man, and either a Romana or Jehova's Witness. The prison scene represents the socio-democratic regime in East Germany and the extreme violence against prisoners, the money falling down was about the inflation, I believe. The rockets in the background of the camp scene are V-2 rockets, which the Nazis used forced c-camp labor to build- the construction of the rockets killed more workers than the explosions of the actual rockets did when hitting targets. The scene where Till dresses in lady's clothing is about the violent revolutionary gangs that killed 40+ people (in the 70s-90s? Unsure about the date). The scene where Till is in a white suit and hat represents the leaders of East Germany, and the party they throw represents the luxurious life the leaders led while their people didn't have basics such as toilet paper or can openers. They used a black woman to represent Germania, which imo is to spite and neo-Nazis who want to use the video as propaganda (Rammstein, btw, is totally against Nazism- check out their interviews). All of the band members grew up in East Germany before the wall fell, and all experienced the bad end of life. They have so much to say, so much to experience- But people saw the concentration camp and immediately condemned them. It's very frustrating.

The actress represents 'Germania' through the ages btw. In the beginning we have the Germans defeating Rome. The scene with Till dressed as woman is the R.A.F. The two guys boxing represent the infighting during the Weimar Republic. During the ww2 scene you can see Germania being blind on the 'right' side. The people awaiting their hanging have different stars: one is jewish, one is a socialist, one is homosexual. The dogs she is giving birth to are a typical german breed. The guys in their political party office is during the DDR. That's all I remember, but there is more.

So a quick guide to the song and clip for those who might be confused Lyrically the song talks about wanting to love Germany but also kind of hating it. The clip then shows why. The woman represents Germania the spirit of Germany and is shown in the traditional national colours of red, gold and black. She is shown to bring chaos and destruction (especially when she yells Deutschland bad things happen). They show various periods in German history with a endless cycle of violence. They skewer leaders & ideologies whether they be right, left, secular or religious indicating that in general all of them were pretty horrible and what does that say about their country. "dogs" probably represent "common people" - likeable and loyal but also stupidly and blindly following their leaders even if their leaders are crap. The scenes in the future look peaceful but Germania still gives birth to dogs indicating that the same old problems could easily come back again. The glass coffin is like Snow White showing that the old chaotic Germania spirit might appear dead but is really only sleeping. The outro uses a stripped back version of "Sonne", in the clip for "Sonne" a beautiful but corrupt Snow White is stuck in a abusive and self destructive relationship with the adoring "little people" played by the band members. They cast a Russian actress in the role and they are from the old east Germany so it's very likely the same underlying themes are at play there too. The glass coffin is in that too and she does awake and it's back down into the mines for the dwarves at the end of the clip.

@@trishave5639 - They were raised by a She-Wolf so it's kind of the other way round in that legend but you might be right about it being inspirational in the visuals to an extent. The evidence for dogs being people in Deutschland is pretty strong - they wear gas masks at one point, the band walks on all fours like the dogs Germania walked, she gives birth to dogs and there is a brief flash of what is best summed up as "the East German leadership screwing the people" (which even for Rammstein is an extreme visual). It's like the red beams - there is apparently a thing in German storytelling called the red line which is basically the connective thread of a story and looking at the clip that connective thread appears to be a cycle of violence and destruction. It also gives things a kind of hellish glow which I am sure appealed visually. It's a clip that is full of symbolism and visual metaphors for things underpinning the historical events. The Monks probably represent the Religious figures devouring the country and getting fat of the land around the time of the Reformation and 30 years War whilst the people in the fetish box below them represent the people suffering. The population of the Holy Roman Empire went from somewhere around 18 to 20 Million down to 11 to 13 million during the 50 years from 1600 to 1650. There are stories of cannibalism during the famine of the time which is also being alluded too but I am guessing it's more about the global impact than specific instances. It's such a dense layered work I dont think it IS possible to overthink it. I think the whole point of it is to MAKE you think. Whilst it's about Germany I think any of us that looked at our own homelands with an objective eye might find some truths that are pretty unnerving.

I am from America. I can say what I get from this video is how Rammstein is expressing their love/hate relationship with their own home country of Germany. Germany has had some tragic parts of their past they are not proud of and want to hide. Yet they know if they hide it, no one else can learn from it. America has a checkered past as well. We have done terrible things we aren't proud of, yet we endure, and try to make lives better by embracing the hope for love. Germany wants to be a bigger and better country despite their past just as America does. I am sure many other countries see the same thing. Some of the scenes that some people scream and hate in this video are some scenes that those people NEED to see. Those are some of the most important things that has happened and we NEED to know about them so we don't forget them. Constantly censoring everything to protect people's feelings hurts more than showing the FACTS.

In the WWII years later on this kind of big bushy moustache was already out of fashion. The falling banknotes in the prison are not about corruption. That scene is about the hyper-inflation of the 1920's, that took away the savings of the Germans and left them in deep poverty and desperation. One had to pay a loaf of bread with a handcart full of nearly worthless banknotes back then and it hit the German people deep down inside and in their souls. Especially the poor ones and the simple workers. The scene with Rammstein wielding guns (the pumpgun) and taking Germania hostage was about leftwing terrorism of the 1970's. The terrorists were called the RAF (Rote Armee Fraktion). My interpretation of the red scanner-like beams: There are two different kinds of beams. The massive straight red light beam that goes up into the heavens AND there were those smaller, thinner "scanner" beams. Aliens (or humans from the future) are scanning the whole German history. Like some real scientists are scanning and excarvating ancient Mexican or Egyptian statues, for example. The massive red light beam is the red ribbon of time that ties together all the historical events. PS: As for the dogs: Germans are fanatical dog lovers. We are a dog-owner nation. The dog is a firm part of Germany. PPPPS: The puppies at the end are Leonberger dogs. The Leonbergers nearly went extinct during WWI and WWII. PPPPPS: The black woman in the prison was dressed in a Prussian uniform with a Prussian helmet. Till sings the famous, often misinterpreted, line of the "Deutschlandlied" (Song of the Germans), that is not forbidden in Germany but simply isn't sung anymore in our modern national anthem. Till sings in his version the line "Deutschland über allen" (Germany above everybody) What is a BIG change to the real line in the orginal Deutschlandlied-song. In the original Deutschlandlied song it is written as "Deutschland über alles" (Germany above everything). The real, whole line of that old Deutschlandlied goes "Deutschland, Deutschland über alles. Über alles in der Welt" (Germany, Germany above everything. Above everything in the world). This line is often misinterpreted by many people as chauvinism and as a looking down upon all other countries on this planet. But that is wrong and not many people know about that in Germany and elsewhere. The writer of that famous line didn't meant it in a chavinistic way. When that song was written, Germany was divided into umphteeth mini-states, what made Germany relative powerless and defenseless. Therefore the task of German unification was the goal above any other goal for all Germans (at least the writer of the song meant it that way). So the main goal for all Germans had to be the united Germany. The goal of "(united) Germany above everything else". That was, how that line was meant by the writer of the song. The line isn't forbidden, like many people wrongly think. It's simply not sung anymore and not part of the official anthem of modern Germany anymore. This has NOT its reason in the seemingly chauvinist meaning of "Deutschland über alles", like many people wrongly think. This whole stanza of the Deutschlandlied isn't sung anymore, because in other parts of the stanza are borders and landscapes mentioned, that aren't German borders and landscapes anymore. We want to live in peace with the people and countries, who are now living in those former German lands and therefore we don't sing about those old borders and landscapes anymore. It has nothing to do with the "Deutschland über alles" line in that stanza, like many people wrongly are thinking. Finally: The scenes I'm now talking about are pretty dark and low light. The WWII submarine in the submarine bunker during the astronauts are walking by with the glass coffin. I think, the choice of the black woman as main actress was made, because: a) it makes any accusations of racism and fascism against Rammstein useless b) she represents one colour of the German flag and she is wearing the rest of the colours of our German flag as makeup and jewellery and clothes on her body: Black, Red and Gold c) it provokes many people EVEN MORE 😄 Here i have a recommendation from Rammstein. It is one of their best songs. And yet this song is seldom reacted to and never played in their live shows. This song only makes really sense in combination with the best fan video ever made for Rammstein. It is animated and the version, I give to you here in a link, has additional English subtitles, because this song has a very hard, deep and profound message. A small side note: Germany is divided into federal states, with an emphasis of the school system also being semi-divided and not controlled by one government but a "federal council" of the education ministries (simplifying here) and the reason behind this is, that if a single government would have control over Germany, Germany would (again) focus on external expansion. This has been a real fear for European countries for centuries, that a united Germany would be warmongering and aggressive. This, astonishingly enough, has been proven to be correct when the first WW erupted (though the reasons for this war happening are rather complex, it wasn't about expansion (first)). After WWI, the allied nations were kind of worried again, that if Germany would be united and strong again, Germany would march to war again, thus they inflicted extreme heavy penalties on Germany, which, the irony in this is great, caused so many problems within Germany, that a certain political party was able to seize control to get Germany to prosper again, but this time at the cost of those who inflicted those penalties. The thing is, Germany is and has always been an economical power-house in the centre of one of the most advanced regions in the world. It was a divided Empire for centuries (as Ramstein says: "so old and yet so young") and its first unification brought a war that got into history as "the Great War" at first and then as the "First World War". As strange as it sounds, the unification of Germany had the goal of stabilizing the political terrain in Europe and in the end a couple of degenerate "Nobles/Monarchs" turned it into utter chaos. The second World War is, also as strange as it sounds, the direct result of the mistakes made after the first. In contrast, after WW2 ended, the Allies realized that making Germany pay and punish the country and citizens of the country for the war would only result in more conflict in the long run. They couldn't also just devastate the country, so they did the opposite and helped rebuilding Germany. Because, as it is an economic powerhouse, Germany as an ally is worth so much more, and it arguebly paid. Maybe it paid a bit too well, from an US point of view, as Germany is again a country that cannot simply be ignored. And we are again at a crossroad. There are movements in Germany who, again, not only want to take pride in Germany, but also question the worth of people who are different. This is not a development of Germany alone, this can be seen in *every* western Nation. And that's worrying, as it is reminiscent of the Europe that existed before the World Wars. To make a point, before WW2, jewish people weren't just looked down upon by Germans. They were looked down upon by everyone else. Yes, even the US. WW2 and the Concentration Camps changed that. The Nazis took it with their actions so damn far, that all others changed their view on jews (at least publicly). Just think about it, you have a group of people, who suffer extremely from prejudices, no matter where they go. And rather suddenly, because of the crimes of one nation everyone starts treat you well. And this just shows the level of bad the Nazi-Party of Nazi-German has "achieved". They were so bad, everyone questioned their morals. And yet, decades later, in a time when information and knowledge is available in abundance, here we are again. Here we start again. Sure, today we hate on muslims. But do you really think it will stop there? Because if one group is done, who is next? There's this saying "Wehret den Anfängen." or translated as faithful to the wording as I think possible: "Prevent the beginnings." A saying, that tells us to never allow it to even get started again. But as one old woman said this year: It is already too late to stop the beginning. It may already have begun again.

The black girl in the video is a representation of Germany. She is Germany. This is why she is present at every step. 1. In the scene with the Romans she is cutting Roman heads representing the Teutoburg Forest massacre when Romans got ambushed in Germany's forrests and "lost their heads". 2. The scene when Germany lies on the table represents Medieval Germany in the time of the Holy Roman Empire showing Germans feasting on the corpse of Germany and also presenting lots of Medieval battles for Germany with the knights dying all over the battlefield 3. The knuckle duster fight represents Weimar Germany in the 1920s 4. The office where they kiss and hug and drink champagne represents Communist East Germany during the Cold War 5. The scene where they are in drag and shotguns kidnapping Germany represents West German terrorist group Called Badder-Meinhoff 6. We all know which part is Nazi Germany 7. Contemporary Germany is the scene where they are beaten by the guards in jail 8. Future Germany is shown as a Bitch who gives birth to puppies. Later they are shown as the dogs on the leash led by her. Probably Rammstein arent very optimistic about the future.

Now my German is a bit rusty, but I am fairly sure that Übernehmen, übergeben does not mean Apply, pass. It means "to take" and "to hand over" referring to lands Germany has taken, and to land Germany has been forced to give to others. But of cause as a "German" you know that. Also your presumption that it shows "how dominant and terrible Germany want to be" shows you understood little of the song, and are NOT German, as a German would never assume that Germany are anymore prone to do horrible things than any other nation. The song is a tribute of the past, both good and bad. And an acknowledgement of the shame many Germans feel, when looking at their past and their difficulties to feel pride in their country. But at the same time, it is offers a hope. That the future is brighter, and the shame of the past is finally put to rest.

This is not any dog breed. These are Leonberger. A german dog breed that nearly went extinct during the world wars. Just like the german people they got a second chance after the wars. I think it is of great importance to this scene that these are Leonberger puppies. They are representing the german people and their (re)birth. Plus: the „midwife“ is wearing the robe of a judge at the Federal Constitutional Court of Germany. This makes the meaning of this scene even greater. The details in this video are insane. Everytime i am watching it i find some other hidden meanings… amazing.

Rammstein has to be seen live, because they are a weapon there and the incredible crowd control is a trademark of them and no matter in which country they play, the audience sings in German like in Paris - kzbin.info/www/bejne/i2arcniwetBrh68.🆒 By the way Til does this specific move, called "Til hammer" cause he had dislocated his knee before a concert and repeatedly hit it in the backstage area to bring it back in. The other band members found this movement totally cool so that he he adopted it for the stage ! Apart from the fact that Til is a trained pyrotechnician, at Rammstein concerts a special stage worker is very close to the stage and is connected by a microphone to the person who controls the fire. He feels the temperature on his cheek and gives corresponding instructions whether you can still step it up a notch or the flames have to be reduced. Another pure madness with with the audience - kzbin.info/www/bejne/nHLEenmLjc9nY5o At another concert Til greets his band members, who are carried back to the main stage in a rubber dinghy , with a "Welcome - Sign". A political statement for the refugees who have drowned by the thousands in the Mediterranean Sea. Please look at the live performance of "Ich will" - kzbin.info/www/bejne/h5ylgaJ9eLV4ZpY - "Rock am Ring" is one of the biggest festival events in Germany. The Ring, which we say, is the legendary Formula 1 race track "Nürburgring"(The green hell), located in the middle of a central mountain of Germany, the "Volcano - Eifel". Rammstein was the Headliner and there are more than 85000 fans on the target line and I was right in the middle 😜 and not only the few thousand hardcore fans directly in front of the stage answer Til's questions, but actually the entire audience down to the last row and to have been there and to feel the concentrated energy of the audience was just indescribable ! At some point Ramstein discovered that you can make up with instant coffee. According to concentration, black to red spots appear, which looks like dirt or blood. Flake was hyper nervous all the time during an earlier tour. What did he forget ? That he was made up with lots of coffee in the evening during every concert - Maybe the reason why he needs a treadmill ? But without Flake Rammstein would never have been what they are. Again and again he is only moved into the nerd corner and underestimated enormously. What most people remember is only the treadmill he is running on while playing. Most of the Rammstein pieces are backed by a mostly inconspicuous but sometimes bombastically symphonic sound body combined with techno elements and so much more. It´s done so cleverly that it is hardly noticeable in the foreground. But if you take it out of the equation and mix it away at the mixer console, the rest sounds almost like any metal band. Together with the typical Rammstein monster guitar riffs the keyboards in the background fill up the entire sound, make things round, and not at least because of this Rammstein sound so unique ! Please check it out - kzbin.info/www/bejne/f5uqf4endrxobqc - kzbin.info/www/bejne/oIPbiGiMr8qiZqM Exactly this concert in Germany took place about 20 km from where I lived and you could still hear it over a hill in between and see the light show flickering in the distance. You could clearly experience the sound level at which Rammstein are traveling This melodic sound together with the unbelieveble power that Rammstein brings over is also to be seen here - kzbin.info/www/bejne/i6KXYnmjrJp2fas Or look at this and just wonder - kzbin.info/www/bejne/p3fTm4CEgN2mpKM - This performance was nominated for the Grammy and on the 2019 tour they go one step further. ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE - kzbin.info/www/bejne/eIfVY3eqg6mDm9U The song is based on a true story that happened in Germany. A cannibale looked for someone on the Internet who could be eaten by him and also found someone. Just google "The Rothenburg Cannibal" Totally whacky. Richard Kruspe tells the story in an interview on the DVD "In Amerika" released in 2015. First the police arrested Paul Landers off the stage and then one by one, the sound became thinner and thinner as the other band members were arrestet and at some point he put his guitar down and turned himself to the cops. For Rammstein, who had come together in the former GDR, the left dictatorial eastern part of divided Germany, America was in their imagination the "land of unlimited possibilities" in which you can do pretty much anything. After a night in jail they know that it was a really stupid idea to perform anything like that in a big city in the "Bible Belt" - kzbin.info/www/bejne/poO7nHePibh0oJY - 😱😉 In Germany, this kind of thing doesn't upset (almost) anyone anymore - we're a little more relaxed there. Rammstein pieces are pure energy and if one can keep his butt still while listening, you should see a doctor as soon as possible 😂

Forget the lyrics, the story is told by the pictures. The beginning as barbarians to dark age with his crusades, Imperial Era and First World War, Weimarer Repuplic, Second World War specifically the Holocaust, the terror of the so called "Red Army Fraction" in the 70s, divided Germany in east and west...... The so-called "Varus Battle" in the Teuteburger Forest, which the Teutons won because they were led by a soldier trained in Rome who lured the Romans into the impenetrable Teutonic forests and thereby completely destroyed their usual strategies. It was common roman practice at the time to kidnap sons of Germanic tribal leaders and threaten them with death so that peace would prevail in the provinces. Many of these kidnapped people later made careers in the Roman army and one of them even made it to the centurion before returning to Germania to properly kick the Romans there a........... 😉 They lost three entire legions, their leader (Varus) committed suicide, and it was the most devastating defeat in the history of the Roman Army. This won battle and the "Battle of Leschfeld" under Otto the Great against the Huns are generally regarded as the birth of a German feeling of togetherness and the beginning of the birth of a nation.

The credit's music is another RemmstEYEn song. Their videos are the best out there. This one is epic. The wonderfully gorgeous lady represents "Germania." So when she's laid out on a table and 'holy' men are eating her, that represents Christian oppression through the Dark Ages and the people under the table, trapped, are the German people, suffering, while the clergy gorges themselves on the country. Of course, it can't be a Rammstein video without lasers. :D Did you catch the lead singer in drag? I would recommend "Sonne," "Ohne Dich," "Benzine," and if you saw the movie "Triple X," you've already seen Rammstein in concert: they're the band inside the old church at the beginning. Because if you haven't strapped a flamethrower to your face, you're not really metal. Enjoy!!

For me, who grew up in East Berlin in the fourth generation, and half of my family on my father's side was shot by the Gestapo and on my mother's side were "good" Nazis, it is really important to understand that this video does not show German history, this statement is not entirely correct. Germany has always been a country with different cultures and different historical backgrounds. This should be differentiated. The video shows in a free and artistic way a few, but well-known and sad historical excerpts from the long and difficult path to achieving something like a national identity. France is France, Italy is Italy and Germany is the BRD. The B means Bundes. It still reminds us of a torned country, of many small nations before 1815. You have the Saxons, the Frisians, the Bavarians and so on. I remember the fall of the Berlin Wall. One of the very few peaceful revolutions in the history of mankind. I wish all people in the world peace and love.

Germania is colorful, We destroy old symbols and create new contemporary. This is the message of the video. 70 million dead from many nations. Suffering and misery on the European continent. Burden of guilt of following generations, reparation payments. Political consequences like the foundation of the GDR and with it the creation of East Germans by the way a West German term. A realization from the crimes against humanity that we Germans collectively committed at that time, as well as the realization that we can only make it with other peoples, cultures, religions and the knowledge of all the people of this world, breaking old Symbols. Rammstein really uses a lot of symbols in this song. The real meaning only emerges with the lyrics and the video together. You really have to analyze it more closely and then you will understand the deeper meaning. In this song the Middle Ages, the time of the Romans, the GDR - these historical events are presented in different roles. Of course, the theme of the Nazi era and the persecution of the Jews is also addressed, although its presentation does not differ from the style of the other scenes. A constant in the entire video is a woman who appears as a personified Germany in the different epochs. If you know this woman is representing germany and looking to the video again you will see so much more. I think, the choice of the black woman as main actress was made, because: a) it makes any accusations of racism and fascism against Rammstein useless b) she represents one colour of the German flag and she is wearing the rest of the colours of our German flag as makeup and jewellery and clothes on her body: Black, Red and Gold c) it provokes many people EVEN MORE! Sometimes as a victim, sometimes as a perpetrator. In the text there are also several sections that contradict each other, e.g. "Will love and damn you". Statements like these express Germany's good and bad sides on the one hand. One of the passages like "so young and yet so old". This means that German history began early. But through certain events such as the fall of the Berlin Wall, the founding of the GDR through which a new era began for Germany. "one can love you and yet hate you!" It is a question of whether you can be proud of your country or not. "Your love is a curse and a blessing. I cannot give you my love." Germany is aware of the good but also dark times and many see the dark times as so extreme that it is difficult to give your country your love and pride. I must have overlooked a few things in the video, but those are the parts that stand out. I was born and raised in Germany myself and feel the same when it comes to being proud of my country. As for the dogs: Germans are fanatical dog lovers. We are a dog-owner nation. The dog is a firm part of Germany. They didn't eat the body of the woman and her inner organs, even if it really looked that way. They were eating the national dish of Germany, that was put on the body of the black woman: Sauerkraut, Kassler & sausages. it symbolizes the church eating itself fat on the goods and values and food of Germany during the simple people (farmers, simple workers etc) lived a long time in a kind of hell of poverty and serfdom (the red fetish area below the table with Germania on it). The 30 years war was the biggest catastrophe in Germany until WWI happened. he short scene with the dogs and their gas masks = WWI, where in reality animals (messenger dogs & horses) AND soldiers were wearing gas masks, too.The puppies at the end are Leonberger dogs. The Leonbergers nearly went extinct during WWI and WWII. Here the lyrics in english: You (You have, you have, you have, you have) Have cried a lot (Cried, cried, cried, cried) Separated in spirit (Separated, separated, separated, separated) United in heart (United, united, united, united) We (We are, we are, we are, we are) Have been together for so long (You are, you are, you are, you are) Your breath's cold (So cold, so cold, so cold, so cold) The heart in flames (So hot, so hot, so hot, so hot) You (You can, you can, you can, you can) I (I know, I know, I know, I know) We (We are, we are, we are, we are) You (You stay, you stay, you stay, you stay) [Chorus] Germany - my heart in flames Want to love and damn you Germany - your breath's cold So young, and yet so old Germany! [Verse 2] I (You have, you have, you have, you have) I never want to leave you (You cry, you cry, you cry, you cry) One can love you (You love, you love, you love, you love) And want to hate you (You hate, you hate, you hate, you hate) Presumptuous, superior Take over, hand over/puke Surprise, invade Germany, Germany above everything [Chorus] Germany - my heart in flames Want to love and damn you Germany - your breath is cold So young, and yet so old Germany - your love Is a curse and a blessing Germany - my love I can't give you Germany! Germany! [Bridge] You I We All of you You (superior/overpowering, unnecessary) I (Übermenschen weary) We (The higher you climb, the further you fall) You (Germany, Germany above everything) [Chorus] Germany - your heart in flames Want to love and damn you Germany - my breath's cold So young, and yet so old Germany - your love Is a curse and blessing Germany - my love I can't give you Germany!

The first verse of the Deutschlandlied is "Deutschland, Deuschland über alles", so "Germany, Germany above everything" but Till Lindemann sings "Deutschland, Deutschland über allen", which I would translate as "Germany, Germany above all".
