Thanks for showing how the Mayan Train works. By the way! It is interesting how they claim that the train Mayan is destroying the eco system, and yet the environmentalists never mention Vulcan (US mining company) or the out of control construction in resort areas like Cancun or Playa del Carmen
@FRANCISCOORTEGA-ih1wn6 ай бұрын
Hi, were you here 30 or so years ago when Vulcan was at its peak ?, I was, yes there were complaints from enviromentalists but with a corrupt government it went ahead, same with Maya Train, judges issued a stop work order and the president ignored it,, corruption is everywhere and that is dangerous to build a public transport train. Same for the construction in the whole area, and again, corruption. Having the military in charge is no difference, military is as corrupt or even more. What Vulcan did to the environment is peanuts compared to the damage done on the construction of the train, search it, 30 times worse, but is not ending there the damage will be permanent and progressive . The steel jacket that covers the columns is iron, oxidizing and contaminating the pristine waters of the subterranean rivers. kzbin.info/www/bejne/hKini6WmfayZfck&pp=ygUVaW5nIHdpbGJlcnRoIGVzcXVpdmVs

Hola David, 🙏 Thank you for watching and sharing your thoughts! Definitely, there have been thousands of hectares destroyed to build resorts and hotels in the area. We need to be more open that projects like this one, will have an environmental impact no matter what, it is sad that they did not do it properly as it is sad what they have done for the cenotes. Well the purpose of our video was 99% to show the function of this project. Thank you again for watching and commenting. 🫶

Also more than 85% was already on federal area already assigned to be used for roads or electrification beside the existing highways , that means there was no nature already in this area, plus only the tramo 5 was really impacting, and is funny they complain about it, and when they did the new highway GDL to Puerto Vallarta destroying more nature, everybody was celebrating to get in 2 hrs 45 minutes instead 4 hours 30 minutes. and no claim about nature, plus as you mentioned, resorts in Cancun and Calica the amercan mining company which destroyed a lot, really a lot of nature
@JorgeGarcia-mh5il6 ай бұрын
Just a comment....back in the 60s CAN CUN was a village of 300 people and nobody complained about the destruction when hotels, highways, parks , schools , avenues , restaurants, and the jungle was destroyed....THE OPPOSITION to Lopez Obrador is actually the one started with this cheap politics about the maya train ......also nobody talk about Black rock destroying thousands of acres mining and destroying the jungle without any benefit for the locals....but themselfs . on the other hand this administration is providing hundreds of thousands jobs for the whole riviera maya locals..that's a big difference , at the end of the day the benefit is greater than the concerned some complained about it. !!
@FRANCISCOORTEGA-ih1wn6 ай бұрын
@@ingrafaelcobas So if they have done that it is ok to keep destroying everything ? but wait if it was a hospital, homes for the needy, schools, it may be justified, but just because one presidentito wanted a train and in the process keep money from it, c´mon.

Sorry to spoil it, things are not pumping, a very very conservative party just won not only the presidency but the whole congress, things in Mexico that we achieve in decades will roll back, many analysts are calling it BACK TO THE FUTURE. Government is eroding the 3 essential government levels, specially the judges, they plan to elect whomever judge they seem fit. Due to that notice the USD jumped in 5 days from 16.70 to 18.50 as of now. That is good news to US travelers. I left Mexico 34 years ago and very eager to retire there, but things are not looking good with the new government Crime is at its higuest and will be worse.

From Playa del Carmen at 2:50 AM, the butt crack of dawn, boarding a train from Cancun to Merida for a three hour ride, that’s actually quite nice. jajajaja, the presidentito has been saying that since last year, just extending the date, IS NOT READY, they encounter some little problems , CAVES AND CENOTES, but as time is money they went ahead and are building thru those caves, the delay is because they dig a hole for the column and they can not find firm soil so they dug another on and another one until they THINK they found firm soil which might not be. BEWARE , train is built by corruption and that creates cutting corners, and that creates disasters. It just rained many days here, see what already happened to the train track base , is just a matter of time kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y2KcZ2xvm55_bqM

Hola fried 👐👐 Yes, seems they were doing the final details on the Mayan Train, we believe the night trains would be amazing to commute to the longest routes. As far as we know there are only the normal wagons as shown in the video operating so far. Absolutely, there are not many routes available, we believe there will be more and will help to have more options to depart even from PDC. 🙏🙏

Absolutely, is sad about the nature we really hope they minimize the impact with the rest of the project.

Do it! Chiapas is awesome! I took the train from Palenque to Campeche in February. Palenque waiting "room" was a tent and plastic chairs, full on construction zone, everyone in hard hats except the passengers who had to walk straight through the construction to board the train! 🤣🤣Gotta love Mexico! Lots of construction along the way too but TONS of excitement, everyone stopped and waved as we passed. Good experience but its awful what was done to the jungle and cenotes, not enough prior planning 😢

Thank you for this video! I have a few logistical questions. We're very familiar with using the bus in Cancun and with the Cancun airport, but we haven't taken the train yet and haven't yet traveled to many places outside of Cancun. Where do you go at the airport to get the shuttle to the train, & how often does it come? Also, we want to return to Valladolid, having been there only once, but I'm wondering how to get from the train station to downtown there as well. Is it far, and is Uber the best way or are taxis reliable? I know in Cancun there has been a lot of tension between Uber and taxi drivers, so I'm wary of getting into an uncomfortable and potentially unsafe situation. Lastly do you have recommendations of things to do in Valladolid and places to stay there and in Merida? I am new to your channel so I apologize if you cover that on another video. I haven't had time to watch them all yet. 😆
@el7maresshusho6 ай бұрын
Hya, there's a free suttle from each terminal to the train station, just look for the signs upon exiting the baggage claim and customs area, as fas as I know the shuttle only works on a schedule related to train arrivals and departures, for example if the last train leaves at 2 pm you won't find a shuttle from the airport after 2 pm , and there's the other thing, so far there are two trains from from Cancun to Merida one in the early morning and one midday (and back) and one that departs early from Cancun to Palenque, I believe the Tulum line is already working but can't tell you for sure. Do bear in mind that the train station is located next to the airport, but outside its premises, on the "libramiento to take the Merida toll road" (not a good idea to take a taxi $$$$$ or walk). At Valladolid station there are taxis at and I think the town just set up a local shuttle (with cost), I'm not sure if there's uber at Valladolid as its a small town and probably not business worthy for drivers. Valladolid and Merida are in the state of Yucatan where uber is legal and thriving, which is a different story from Cancun, located in Quintana Roo state, where the tensions among taxi unions and uber drivers are happening. At Valladolid you can find cenotes, colonial architecture and lots of mom-and-pop-run hotels its a really charming and laid back little town. If you want to visit Merida, there are tons of options, just check sites like tripadvisor and expedia, and there are of course lots of youtube videos and travel blogs out there. Hope this helps!

I think the train turned into a destination instead of being a means of transport. If you are already in Playa del Carmen at the ADO station, it is cheaper, and it is faster to take a bus to Mérida. Instead of having to take 3 buses and the train to get to the center of Mérida. I think that’s why there is little influx of people on the train.
@FRANCISCOORTEGA-ih1wn6 ай бұрын
Good to mention. as of today train schedules rarely go on schedule, many times train has stopped and passengers are forced to continue the trip on buses if you are lucky, a refund ? good luck. Search for the negative posts not just the ones that makes it look wonderful, it is not. ADO is way faster, cheaper and safer.

@@jacksonwest7100 140 KM per hour ?, you do know the speed limit is 110 KMH or less on some areas and THERE ARE NATIONAL GUARDS with speed radars, going 30 KM over the limit will grant you a fine of 5,000, or 6000 pesos. Not to mention that the NEW highway already has bumps and irregular surfaces due to bad construction. The soil is not hard and same will happen with the train only that a slight bump on a train track will cause a catastrophic accident.

Kind of hard to believe Mexico pulled this off. 100,000 users in 2050 is not a lot of people to pay off a project of this magnitude. I hope it is a success. Is it open all the way at this point?

Hi. Thank you for making the video. I live in Merida and although we have an airport in Merida I like to consider my options when traveling. So my questions are: 1. I am an American with temporary residency card in Mexico. Do I get the foreigner price or the local price? 2. Is there a baggage fee/limit of some sort? When not flying in or out of Merida I often use the Cancun airport . With the Tulum airport open if i consider that as an option would that cost more to take the train from Merida to Tulum than Cancun or is it one set price and the cost is the same? Thanx in advance. 😎
@ForTheRoadTravels5 ай бұрын
Hola amig@, Yes, you can get the local discount with your Permanent Residency Card Per passenger your are entitled to a 25kg baggage and a carry-on The prices varies from point to point, currently there is only Merida-Cancun APTO available, we cannot be 100% sure if even will be a route Merida-Tulum (it might stop at Cancun anyway) You might be interested in this article about Tren Maya: fortheroadtravels.com/how-to-take-the-new-mayan-train-from-cancun-to-merida/
