The guide is well worth watching as it gives you more background into BTS as a whole, but then goes into a portion of the backgrounds and personalities of all the individual 7 members. There are other guides, but the one by Taylor Mairi is more comprehensive. X Celeste does some videos on the hardships BTS experienced, like the racism, haters and other record companies. The MV did have english parts in it, but I think this dance practice was for a concert which would be in all Korean, hence the difference.

Awesome reaction. FYI - BTS practice for 14-18hrs a day until they can THEN focus on the singing and the choreography is muscle memory. This dance practice was for an AWARD performance for MMA, this is why they are wearing their names for the camera crew to know who is whom. So this version of Mic Drop is the original version, which is mostly Korean lyrics. When they did the remix with Steve Aoki, it was made for the Western Market, so RM wrote most of the lyrics in English. J-HOPE and SUGA's verse, and the final verse are in Korean, but the rest was in English. The Original just had a few English phrases/and words. And this Mic Drop performance was put together with the dance breaks for an award show. It's a favorite among ARMY's.

I genuinely think you guys would ADORE this group. BTS have definitely carved out a part of the world for themselves, they are all genuinely so talented its mind blowing. Also, when they say RM is the leader they literally mean he leads the group, and acts as the middleman between the company and the group. It doesn't necessarily mean he's the frontman, or the one who stands out the most, or anything like that. In all honestly there is no sole member that stands out over the others, they're all actually very evenly split. They're all multitalented, and have solo ventures while still being part of BTS. Like all the rappers have their own mixtapes and albums they've released, the vocalists have all had solo singles that have been part of BTS' albums or just dropped on their own. They all have their own expertise within performance and songwriting that kinda allows for them to excel in the way they have. BigHit is their company/label (they've rebranded their company to Hybe). BTS always had seven members (the members haven't changed, nobody has left, nobody has joined). The come up was unreal with them, they're kind of the definition of _started from the bottom, now we're here_

This version was for one of the Korean award shows. I believe it's was for mmas in 2017. The orginal song was in korean. Then they did the remix with Steve Aoki which included English,

Just joined the discord and I really love the energy you guys bring and it's cute how excited you guys get over every little thing you remember from each group you check out. If you do watch the Intro by Taylor just know that although it is long, ARMY's are happy to watch longer reaction video's and it covers literally everything about BTS; their journey, their personalities, their music, their awards, their content and shows. The reason the rap and lyrics are different to the usual version is because this dance practice is for a korean award show, so they sung the korean version of Mic- drop and the lyrics are slightly different. (iconic performance btw). Jimin has done a bit of rap in his solo work too (his song 'Set Me Free pt.2' is an example). You guys got me cheesing with how you reacted at the end and got all excited hehe 😁😁. Also Samo thoroughly impressed me when he knew which member was at the front and could differentiate them so easily, when many baby Army's still get them confused especially with low quality dance practices lol. Mic Drop performed live on a radio show like Mnet. They perform Mic drop choreo that is in the dance practice and the lyrics are in Korean more. The MV Steve Aoki Remix features a lot of English for us.

I’m late to this video, but at 18:46 MQ mentions joining in the dance perfectly in sync. It immediately made me think of a clip from another group. The girl (her name is Sana) had not went on stage with the rest for some reason, they were performing their song and she walks on and walks to her position (she was in the back of the formation for this part so she wasn’t walking in front of everyone) and “snapped into place” as if she had been performing from the beginning of the song. I don’t know why that comment made me think of that, but it did. And BTS are so in sync that in performances you can’t see a certain member because they are moving so in sync behind another member. One clip I remember, you couldn’t see Jungkook behind Taehyung until he went to the other side of the stage! People have made clips of that performance saying “Where’s Jungkook? I bet you can’t find him!” And stuff like that. Idols train so many hours that the dances become muscle memory. The was once a clip of a group standing around and someone played on of their songs from years ago that they haven’t performed in at least a year and they all immediately started doing the dance, and looked shocked that they did!

Love your reactions! Fun Fact: Kpop dance "tiktoks" started years before TikTok itself. Like, since 1992. Before TT they were called point dance videos. K-pop choreography has always featured a section called the point dance. It's the part that's hard enough to be challenging but easy enough for the average person to copy. Name any K-pop hit from 1992 til now and a Korean person (even a grannie or grandpa) will say "Oh yeah! I remember that song!" then start doing something from the point dance. There is even a game called "Random Play Dance" that started before TikTok. The most famous RPD channel on YT is Gotoe's channel. He goes all around the world holding RPD parties in famous public places. You should check it out!

I think Mic Drop was mostly about contemporaneous haters. The rap underground at the time of Mic Drop was starting to accept that there were some, albeit limited, number of Idol rappers who were performing hip hop along with their commercial output. The real issue was attacks such as Break Wings and award show win challenges meant to knock the group BTS down, most vigorously by EXOLS (the EXO fandom).
