Our First Tractor Mods The Kubota L47 Gets Some Additions!

While the Kubota L47 tractor is a very capable tractor as delivered, we decided to add some additional features in the way of weld on chain hooks to the front bucket and a shackle point to the rear bucket.

Reminder. When welding on equipment, make sure to disconnect the battery. In this video this tractor has a quick connect bucket, which should have been disconnected from Tractor to prevent damage to electrical components on the unit.

Thanks for the advice. If I have to weld on it in the future I will keep that in mind. No damage to the electronics though! Everything is working correctly.

Reiterating what @jamesking8105 said. In the video when you were pulling the log with the synthetic choker, if that was to snap for any reason, it looks right in line with the operator. The recoil could remove your head. Be mindful of that. If you can look straight down the line, then the rope or chain is in line with your head by definition.

when I weld hooks on a bucket like that .... then I typically wrap some aluminum foil a few layers around the chrome shafts of the loader cylinders so that there is no weld spatter sticking on the shafts ... if you dont catch a tiny bb sticking to the shaft and done remove it right away .... next tine that rod gets retracted in the cylinder .... you wipe out all the glad seals ....

Great advice! Thanks. I never checked that or even thought about that but we have used the bucket a bit since then without any leaks or issues yet so we may have gotten lucky.

My 2019 L47 bucket came with them fabbed in different shape though. Was this an oem bucket or did they sale you a cheaper aftermarket?

I have a L 48, I also put hooks on the bucket like that, But I put one in the middle of the bucket. That’s where I do my pulling from. It gives much more stability when pulling, I use the other hook on the left or the right to hang the chain slack.
