Our first trip away from home!

In May 2022, we took our first trip away from home after Chris' spinal cord injury. Our family was camped in the Forest Lakes, AZ area, but we weren't confident that we could manage tent camping just yet. We booked an accessible room at Motel 6 in Payson, AZ. They were very accommodating to our needs and our service dog in training, Hope. This was our first time assessing a room for accessibility, so much less detailed than our later videos. We had to modify a few things for our needs, but we still made it work. All in all, we were clean, rested, and enjoyed a great weekend with our family in the forest!
For those wondering, at this point Chris was utilizing a slide board to transfer from wheelchair to bed, with my assistance. The bed was clear underneath at the time we booked, so a hoyer transfer would have also been possible.
