I've been binging this and the Qal series and they're simply just underrated. Great stuff

It looks so different from the Qal languages! Can’t wait to see how they interact!

Just found your channel surprised you don't have more subscribers this is super high quality. Can't wait to get through the existing videos in this series and see what else you do with this language family (also definitely going to watch the other series after this)

Maybe the fragrant coast is the westest part of the continent which is known for its sunsets.

I like that! And perhaps there’s a wind bringing the smell of flowers from a coastal island or something. That’d be one of the nicer ways for a coast to be fragrant!

I find "[condition] obtains" is pretty common in philosophy too.

Linguists may have pilfered it from philosophers then!

An idea for those niches you put to the side for now: why not combine them? I'm thinking something like the Anasazi or other southwest Native Americans, living on the sides of cliffs collecting water. Just an idea for the future!

Excellent idea! We'll have an opportunity to explore this with some of the descendant languages especially, since the Proto-Language speakers will be seafarers, which means the family should be widely dispersed geographically!

How about to do video about making conlang from natural family
@ColinGorrie2 жыл бұрын
It's officially in the ideas folder - I just have to figure out which family first... it's going to be fun though

shouldn't words like devour and storm be more aggressive? like sikral or tarat idk
@ColinGorrie2 жыл бұрын
They'll get changed around in the descendant languages (see later episodes in the series) so they may end up coming out more aggressive sounding in the end

you let the worst people in your community suggest things that only make your languages less naturalistic i know you want to be inclusive, but 'mainland seafarers from the center of the continent' is nonsensical
