I am writing from Chicago and don't know how I got your channel but am very happy I did! You both are delightful to watch and listen to and I am happy for you that you found this nice house that you like and can make it your own! I also like that you have outdoor space in the front but the back is great with so much space and fruit trees. Children should always have a play yard! Thank you for the lovely tour and I wish you many years of happiness and joy in your new home! I am clicking "like" and I subscribed. Hope to see you both again soon! ❤

Very cute, love the windows and natural light. Very sensible, the only thing I would change is move the washer/dryer to across the yard and bring the freezer in, because if you have a leak on the 3rd floor washer the water will damage lots of stuff...you did not mention anything about price, rent and taxes...if renting what does the typical rental agreement covers or exclude, who is responsible for what, are the utilities covered i rent? sorry if you have covered these topics in other videos...
@expatfamilylive9041

Thank you for comment, John! The rental agreement usually includes only the rent, the prices for water, gas and electricity are paid extra. For that house we paid 1350 euro as rent and around 250 euros for the utilities.

@@expatfamilylive9041 No i'm not lucky, I'm living in this house almost 20 years (This house is 2 years older). Most rent houses in Almere you pay something around 600 - 900 euro. Or you sublet it. in that case we call the owner of that house a huizenmelker (something like a landlord). He also rent it and pay something around 800 to the real owner (housing company) or has bought it and sublet it. If you want this amount down. Register your own with one of the housing companys or go for a own house. But you are not Dutch and I don't think you can register for a rental house. I'm not sure about registering with a housing company. But check your options!

1) I have not yet seen the majority of your vlogs (and none about Poland). This gladness and optimism in all vlogs that I do have watched, it really touches me. May it stay with all four of you forever! 2) Gable width: you're the first people that I have noticed linking the former "house-width tax" of Amsterdam and current house-width in the Netherlands. Well, you may be right, but I doubt it. :-) My own guess is, that "all" Dutch houses (with farms branching off) originated as just shelters. Then some storage would emerge out of the way for stepping and for children and animals, storage for hay, for fishing nets. This storage would eventually grow into a separate floor, and from there the process would repeat. Note that basement are not too common in the greater part of the Netherlands, due to groundwater levels, Anyway, rows of homes (would these be called "apartments" in English?) in one building have been common here for some 200 years. (I'm especially thinking of the weavers' homes from Tilburg in the open air museum at Arnhem.) 3) Computer table: to each his own. :-) Me, I have been unfit for work ("arbeidsongeschikt", Dutch keyword: WAO) since 1991, but I love computers and related. I have become a lover of tablets, the large iPads in particular, and I'm typing my characteristically long comments on their screen keyboards, even with hardware keyboards within reach. As a wannabe power-user, I also have the software on these tablets to be productive in differing ways. I even seldom use my notebook computers. My real desktops must be somewhere under the dust of ages. So I could use the floor, my bed, the couch, any table to work. I could also connect any device to a large screen. In your situation, I might have put the computer monitor on a tilt-and-swivel arm on the wall, allowing you to put the computer table at angles to the monitor, at the desired distance. But as you repeatedly indicated that this house is not your permanent one (as you say that things belong to the house owner), you may want to leave the walls intact. :-) Anyway, do arrange your stuff in ways that suit you. You're the bosses, your furniture and devices aren't!

The reality in the Netherlands. The original Dutchman himself gets no longer a house at all. The Dutch government decided a few years ago, that asylum seekers are always the first to be given a house. As a result, there is currently a housing shortage of 285.000 houses. As a second result, a lot of young Dutch people are now leaving the Netherlands and going to another country to live and work. They have to wait now for about 8-10 years to get a house.

What does it mean to get a house? In the majority of countries noone gives you a house , you have to buy it or rent it as we do it.
@mariadebake5483
@mariadebake5483 3 жыл бұрын
@@expatfamilylive9041 That means that, if you have to rent or buy a house, you need a certain income. Most dutch don't have sufficient income to afford those high prices. So they have to wait for a so-called social rental house. That means being put on a waiting list. Waiting times can vary depending in which area you are. I live in Noord-Brabant and my 31 year-old, single, daughter is on the waiting list for 8 years already and still hasn't got a home of her own. So when someone talks about getting a house, he means being allowed to rent a social rental house. Of which there aren't many, and refugees indeed get priority. Understandable perhaps, but it rankles with many dutch people
