In today's episode, we're taking you through our most difficult day on our Switzerland trip. We spent 11 days traveling Switzerland by train and out of all those days, this was our worst. How bad did it get?😱😉🇨🇭

We are Oskar & Dan, two boys from Sweden who decided to change the course of our lives, drop out of university and live life full-time. We're planning to visit every country in the world before we're 30 with an initial goal of 100 before we turn 25. By the time of posting this video, we're both 24 :)
Switzerland was country #69/197🌍
We began our trip in Zürich and went to Liechtenstein (country #70) from there. We then took the train down to St. Moritz before catching the Glacier Express the following day to Zermatt. From there, we moved on to the Swiss adventure capital of Interlaken, from which we visited Bern, Thun, Grindelwald, Lauterbrunnen, and Mürren. We then spent two nights in Lucerne before heading back to Zürich to catch our onward flight to Barcelona (to visit Andorra, country #71).

@@OskarandDan Then you were lucky. July had only 4 or 5 days where it didn't rain. Also floods in several regions. But all in all, Switzerland got away really good compared to Germany.

Thun is one of my favourite cities in Switzerland because it's beautiful and quite large (for Swiss standards) while still having close access to both the mountains and more urban areas like Bern. Just a great place to be. If it would have been hot and less rainy, you could have seen lots of people walking around in bathing suits and jumping from bridges into the river, which contributes nicely to the unique atmosphere. Sadly this summer is to rainy and cold so far, making bathing in the river to dangerous at the moment.

Interesting how foreigners see Switzerland. Next time you eat a millefeuille: turn it 90 degrees on the side then cut it with your fork/spoon. Like this you can cut through the 'biscuit' parts without compressing it.

Its so cool to see tourists in my hometown because they see everything so different than me for example who lived in this surrounding for my whole life. I grew up in thun but i moved to a small village right at the lake and have to get on that exact same bus you both took from thun to interlaken every single day😊 If you happen to still be here in our beautiful region i hope that you guys can enjoy the hot weather in the next couple of days😌

If you are good swimmers, next time if you come to bern on a hot summerday, you have to go to the Marzili-Bad (no costs) and go swimming in the river Aare. When the water has about 20° its wonderful. You walk with thousands other people a long the river for 1 or 2 km and then swim back in the river. That is pure joy!

I'm not sure if you were still here in Switzerland during the heavy rain and flood in mid-July, it got much worse than that. It's a very rainy summer this year so you may got lucky... Oh, and I live in Berne and I love it. In fact, I just work close to the Bakery Bakery you visited. Very cool to see you here! :)

was that last friday? i was out for shopping, just left the shopping mall when i heard the loudest thunder in my whole 37 years of life here in bern. everyone around me including me got shocked a bit on how loud it was. sad you werent in bern at a sunny day so you could have taken a swim in the river :P its the best thing. but due to the heavy rainfalls and high water it was brown and not dark green it normally has and didnt look very inviting on this day :P

I live exactly between Bern and Thun, both beautiful places. Interlaken is just too touristy for me. Yes, tons of rain this week. But as you saw, when things go wrong, the SBB finds solutions to your travel problems fast. Stay dry!

I just returned yesterday from 3 weeks in Europe and had the best time in Zermatt, the Glacier Express and St. Morris. Are you traveling on an Interail pass? We did a Eurasia as we no longer live in Germany and it was really great. Did Milan, Cinque Terre, Florence, Switzerland, Düsseldorf, Köln, Paris.

Restaurant prices in CH are something else😅 Thank you! We use our iPhones 12 Pro Max so no additional camera gear except the GoPro :)

Ha yeah - like $30 for a burger, $12 for a kebab… it was too much! That’s amazing the quality of footage you’re able to get out of your iPhone! Do you use the rear camera in wide angle? Or a gimbal? I’m just amazed… and also about ready to throw my Canon M50 out the window, as everything comes out shaky and dark and weirdly exposed. Maybe you just have doctor-level steady hands :)

If you re going to Geneva try the vegan resaurant and bakerie "Envie Vegan" ! They serve the best vegan desserts I ever eat. They have hambuger and tacos too 😉

I did not go through all 200+ comments, so please forgive me if the following trivia has already been conveyed to you: Berne is not the capital of Switzerland. We do not have an official capital, It is the seat of goverment and therefore the closest we have to a capital... it is a typical Swiss compromise... since other cantons would feel slighted of any one canton would be the one with the capital, we decided not to have one. Federal goverment resides in Berne, however Federal court is in Lausanne and Federal court for insurance matters is in Lucerne... I do not mean to be a smartass, just wanted to add to the learning experience you certainly had in our country.
