Love thiss. Yesso. Love the part about rejecting people’s ‘advise’ when they say things like you can’t be rich or get a good role or you have to settle for care only. I was talking to someone about how I just finished my MBA and I need to start applying for PM jobs in tech companies as I have over 5 years experience in that, he then mentioned they don’t allow 👩🏾 people manage their tech products here. I didn’t even argue cuz I have over 4 PM friends that got new PM roles this year. 3 in top banks and 1 in FMCG company here in the UK. People just dump their fears on you sometimes. If it didn’t work out for you don’t project that unto others.

This just reminded me of my first marketing job (3 months fixed term contract) after working in retail for monthssss. The commute wasn't easy it was a total of 1 hour 40 minutes (20 minutes walk from the station nearest to my office to the office grounds). It was one of those jobs you use as a steeping stone to grow in your preferred industry so I had to endure. The worst part was the fact they made it seem like the office was amazing but our office was made out of containers and the toilets were nasty. This happened winter last year so you can imagine the cold and having to work in such conditions. What our eyes see at times😅

I also worked a retail job (at the cash till) and a YT man once told me to get someone else to attend to him cause I was making him uncomfortable. So I called my manager (she's YT) and he goes on to say "thank goodness she came cause he knows people my type don't understand english and aren't educated" btw I was doing my Masters in Management at the University of Bristol 😅 My manager was so embarrassed, she kept apologising. I have stories for daysss about my retail experience.
