Our House Is Flooding

Wild Wonderful Off-Grid

Күн бұрын

This springs torrential downpours have repeatedly flooded the crawlspace in our house. This is a major issue that needs to be tackled this week while we have the rental machines here that are capable of completing the task. While we work on installing a new drainage system we will also be over seeing deliveries of attachments and dumpsters to prepare for the next big task- demolishing a house.
Shop Our Apparel: www.bunkerbran...
We are a couple who are building our own home from the ground up in the mountains of West Virginia. After living near the city our entire lives we finally decided to sell it all, pack up our 3 kids and live in an RV on our 73 acres while building our own debt free, off-grid house and learning to live a more self-reliant life.
Our house build is documented entirely on our main channel "Wild Wonderful Off-Grid" and our family life vlogs can be found on our secondary channel "Wild Wonderful After Show"

My first time commenting. My husband and I are retired educators. We moved permanently to our vacation condo in Sunset Beach, NC when Covid set in. We found your channel on KZbin during this time and we have fallen in love with your “story”! We are currently building a house here in Sunset Beach and we follow several KZbin builders, but your family is by far our favorite. You cannot know how much your videos meant to us as we were “staying” in during the pandemic. Your children are precious, your husband amazingly smart and you are an exceptional mom, wife, and worker! Thank you for keeping us entertained with such high quality, down to earth, real-life stories! Please do not change your style or your videography! We are constantly sharing your KZbin with family and friends.

On the next drain tile you do, it helps to put landscape cloth on top of the stone before back filling the dirt. We usually use landscape cloth on the whole drain. Dig the ditch, line it with the cloth, throw pipe in, then stone and then wrap the cloth around the stone, like a burrito !

I usually only watch the WWOG episides once but I’ve watched this episode 4 times. It’s probably my favorite episode because of the technical details. The videography keeps getting better, the video and audio transitions were great, the music generally was great and I don’t remember the audio ducking being done so deliberately before. Not to mention great story telling!

Great episode. Last Sunday's was a bit "Hollywood" but this is back to showing the work, explaining it and seeing how your overall vision and working ways allow quick responses to emergencies without compromising plans for gradual extension. Your personalities harmonize in a rare way and it is great to see the boys becoming more involved appropriate to their ages. Time management is a particular strength and when it is done this well there is natural time for spontaneous time out as a family. Obviously Josh's standards of precision require more time than slacker people would spend but Erin's overall multi-management training fits with this. Getting it right saves time and expense in years to come and sets standards across the board. When I see a new video posted I hit the button "REAL QUICK".

How bizarre! I've just this past weekend completed putting in a French drainage system in my garden, I've lived here 15yrs and suddenly with all the rain we had earlier this year we found our property kept on flooding it turns out we have a natural spring deep under the foundations and with all the rain it's the first time I've seen it fill up and come to the surface where it just keeps on flooding the garden etc. Only difference is i had to do everything by hand with a spade and wheelbarrow!!! Damn hard graft!! As always guy's 💯% 👍 🇬🇧.
