Love following your journey through life. When my husband and I bought our home we had zero money left for renovations and there are things we still need to do after many years. I think a lot of people judge you because the way people live is also a cultural thing. They compare their own habits/way of life to yours and it does not fit them. I'm very happy for you and Rich, the house looks amazing and I see a lot of great memories happening there. It's your safe place and nobody should feel the need to judge your plans on why or how you are renovating it. I just can't wait to see all the changing and it's so interesting how asthetics are so different:)

I'm with you on wanting to see more videos like this. I bought a house recently and, while it was move-in ready, it's an 80s build and there are a lot of bits and pieces we'd love to fix and change. I don't feel very confident about what to change and how (my family rarely decorated or updated anything so I don't have much experience or a vision for it) so it's insightful to see what other people our age are up to. I really appreciated this video Lily. Personally I find it so encouraging to see a house that isn’t finished. We also went for the practical house that needed work and we are having to save and choose which bits to do first. A lot of our house isn’t what we’d choose but eventually it will be! Lily Pebbles Hi Lily! Don't think I've commented on one of your videos before, but I wanted to say I can see why you chose the house, so much potential, with the high ceilings and original features. I've lived in my house for 18 years, and renovated the whole thing, and it takes time, always costs more than you thought, and is stressful, but it's worth it. It made me sad though, at the beginning when you asked people to be kind, and not judgmental, you looked so worried. I know showing your life is part of your job, but I could see then how invasive doing that sometimes is. I can never understand why so many people choose to spread negativity online, and it's a shame if that in any way takes away from your happiness in your new home.

Good luck with your reno! The house is gorgeous, I'm really excited to see your progress. My hubby and I just bought a Victorian terrace, we've already had the kitchen re-done and are currently trying to prioritise our ridiculously long list of things to do. I'm so envious of you and Rich being able to go back to your parents when work is being carried out, the kitchen ended up taking 3 weeks (they found a rotten floor and joists) and we did not appreciate how hard it would be, but totally worth it and it's my favourite room in the house so far! I'm in the process of sorting out the office space - the struggle is real when you're 5ft and dealing with really high ceilings! Things will come up during the work, and expect the unexpected, trust your tradespeople! Masses of luck and I can't wait to see how it all turns out!!

Hi Lily! Beautiful house!! I'm renovating too, all I can suggest you is to be prepared to the unexpected: you start with an idea, then the renovation begin and you have to change that idea, or spend a lot more to realize it than what renovators estimated at first! It's a stress, but it's worth it!! Good luck!!

My husband and I bought our home a year and a half ago and are renovating too and like you have had to do a lot of the repairs that arent "fun" or easily seen the first year. Videos like this make me realise how incredibly lucky I am. My partner is a builder himself (and I am quite talented myself) so we have renovated our entire flat from scratch all by ourselves - from rewiring, fitting a new kitchen, reflooring to a whole bathroom renovation without ever thinking about quotes or anything money related except for the cost of the materials themselves. So excited to see the next update!

I think some people think that being realistic and commenting on things that need a change is automatically being negative. they are wrong. you can love people and love objects and still have various opinions (some will probably be good and some not). Congratulations on your new home, it's marvellous! I've renovated my home, and my key tip is to use an architect. Whilst I thought I knew what our home needed, he pointed out crucial modifications that I would otherwise have missed and our place is so much better for those modifications. If it's within your budget, they would be useful in devising a house master plan. Furthermore, it helps to have everything drawn up professionally so that your contractor doesn't swindle you.
