As a Scot, I have no pals that have eaten a fried Mars Bar. It's a tourist gimmick. Hardly anywhere sells them.
@mcgeorgeofthejungle62047 күн бұрын
Kids are more into deep fried freddos than mars bars. You just need to ask most chippies and they will do it for you.
@PorridgeDrawers7 күн бұрын
@mcgeorgeofthejungle6204 A chippy will cook anything you ask for. I used to go to a chippy that fried battered christmas mince pies. They were fantastic but you had to ask. They weren't on the menu

Shouldn’t be a mac pie it should be a scotch pie

I used to eat a battered Mars bar all the time as a kid, but a lot of chippies stopped making them

As a Canadian with deep roots in Metis hunting And gathering And rustic foods you will not find in most Canadian homes. I know Scotland has lush lands And animals Some of the best fish. I would love to sit down to a meal of some stew Or pies rather than a fried mars bar

It's not a thing, pie in a bread roll is awful and I'm Scottish 🤭 I'm sad that we don't make more of our beautiful seafood.

Fried mars bars was a meme in the 90's, no-one in Scotland eats that, disappointed there was no mince and tatties or roll and square sausage. Peppered mackrel is something we ate in the highlands regularly.
@Glasgow_kiss7 күн бұрын
never seen a macaroni pie roll, a mince pie roll yes. never had or know anyone who has had deep fried mars bar.

...I don't know anyone who would actually eat a deep fried mars bar more than once. You could have put cranachan, or tablet or macaroon or something else sweet there instead.

Fudge doughnuts? Not something I'd consider to be scottish when going into a bakers when they might have the more obvious choice of shortbread on sale. Would love to know what about the standard shop bought quarter circle tattie scone made him think it looked scottish
@iansinclair75816 күн бұрын
Who eats tattie scones on their own? You have to eat them with something else like a fried or poached egg with a runny yolk.

How can you give people a haggis ready meal🤬 you couldn't pay me to eat haggis , I'm scottish btw but it is never going to taste like it should in a cheap micro meal

Scotland produces some of the finest food in the world - beef, game, fish, shellfish - and you're giving them this shit? Scottish cringe at its worst.

Neeps are actually swede, a cross between cabbage and turnip but still often called turnip
@andybrown428410 күн бұрын
Should be turnip but swede tends to get used as a replacement because its a bit cheaper with similar texture and taste.
@Glasgow_kiss7 күн бұрын
neeps are not swede, they are of the same family.

It's what Americans call 'rutabaga'
@jordanwright63647 күн бұрын
neeps are swede aka Swedish turnip they just get called turnip colloquially in Scotland "The name turnip - used in many regions - may also be used to refer to rutabaga (or neep or swede), which is a different but related vegetable." wiki
@Glasgow_kiss5 күн бұрын
@@jordanwright6364 swede is yellow in colour, turnip is white, they are noit the same thing, no matter what some random on wiki says.

We have some of the finest salmon, venison, grouse and assorted other foods. But no, we'll continue the trend of feeding visitors an assortment of utter trash and junk food in order to perpetuate the myth that all Scottish food is heart-clogging mush. Well done.

Aye because the university can just hire a professional chef to to grill up some venison and salmon for a KZbin video? It's just a bit of fun. Chill out.
