DO you play Guild Wars 2? If so, what is your favorite Race and Profession? Any Tips or Tricks are Appreciated

Playing GW2 since it launched, I took a 4.5 years break in 2016 though. What I love most is I could hop just right back in years later, continuing where I left off without having to grind to end game again. My main was Charr Engineer, but a year ago they changed the class mechanic of one its elite specializations which I didn't like that much, neither did I like the latest elite spec - so I switched to Guardian Human (female, because everyone does lol). I love being able to provide support and heal to a group. Biggest conflict many MMO players have with the game that it's very open ended. As soon as you reach max level, the game will basically tell you "now go pick your own goals". Go do more main story (with living world seasons or expacs), go do pvp/wvw, go do legendary grind, go for fractals, raids, whatever. Everything is opening up at once so many people are kinda overwhelmed, they are conditioned to be led through WoW style. Preach has a good video about it when he played the Heart of Thorns expansion, he can put it better in words than me.

@Aereton. Awesome, i woundnt mind trying them both out to see how they go. It definitely gives you options. I found Fractals and World Bosses were easiest to get into. I was a bit scared of fractals at first, but found out just need a full set of Exotic armor and learn with others how they work. I was a WoW player back so I get the progression checklist mentality.

@@StormHorseGaming Yeah, gear isn't nearly as important as in traditional MMOs. With exotic gear you can pretty much do almost all the content, including the hardest strikes or raids. Mechanics and positioning is way more important, the only thing you'd need better (ascended) gear is for higher tiers of fractals because you need infusion slots for agony resistance and those 99% of the time come only in form of ascended or legendary gear.

I find it hard to say but I guess the one I play the most is Sylvari Elementalist as it's a wonderfully all rounded type of class. I enjoy being useful while having variety in playstyles. The very close second/third is Charr Ranger and/or Asura Engineer, for much the same reasons.

Glad I finally found a modern playthrough that doesnt end in 2 episodes. Been trying to get a feel for how people progress through the early game

Welcome to Guild Wars 2! Looking forward to seeing more of your escapades :D Here's a few tips to get you started and make life easier for you: - If your inventory clutters up (and it will :)) with all sorts of stuff you can quickly deposit crafting material via the small buttons in the top right corner of your inventory screen. - Every level up window you get a bunch of information about various mechanics, it's worth reading them at least for the first time - Best get comfortable using the dodge button :) - Most importantly: Be curious, don't be afraid to get sidetracked, GW2 isn't about running from quest to quest but to explore the world and discover its wonders. Everything you do nits you XP

Thank you! Oh nice! I've been playing ESO and my worst nightmare is baggage space. So many mats take up inventory slots it's so annoying. Thanks so much for the tips!

@@StormHorseGaming To expand on that, your account has a material storage accessible via the bank in main cities. When you deposit materials from your inventory, they will be send there. Every material item has its own slot there, and will stack up to 250. Even though cash shop offers an increase of the stack size in your mat storage, it's absolutely not needed for pretty much all purposes. So no PTSD with having to pay a sub fee for a crafting bag like in ESO :)

My favorite class is Mechanist then Guardian. I really enjoyed the game but I don't play much anymore. Hope you have the mounts DLC it makes the game way more fun and the game really gets started when you hit max level. I really hate saying that last line lol but it is really fun even after hitting max even for solo players.

@@StormHorseGaming Honestly, don't feel the need to rush through. Guild wars 2 has a decent story and so much to explore, and zones are level adjusted, so coming back after max level to a starter zone puts you in mostly the same place again. Explore, don't stress over gear or builds until after level 60 (max is 80), ask for help, you will usually find someone willing to help, mounts are fun but you can play the game without them, gliding is fun, but you can play the game without it. Inventory can be sorted, and crafting material can be deposited to the bank with the gear icon in your inventory tab. There are different kinds of events. Renown hearts (Fixed map events you can do to unlock a karma merchant), map events (The orange circles, many chain to other events and help unlock things by completing them), and word boss/champion events (Major events on a fixed timer that require large groups to complete and come with hefty rewards). These are part of the dynamic maps, none but the renown hearts are necessary to complete a map, and map completion is not necessary for the story or to move on to another zone.

@@StormHorseGaming Until I got to 80 I just played it like I was a completionist lol and tried to 100% all zones and played all the story quests solo (they're all soloable IF you like playing that way) After 80 the story really takes off in some of the dlcs. I never really liked the group content because I Really like playing a healer or a tank and that wasn't really a thing.
