As an Episcopalian convertee into the Catholic Church during the BenedictXVI pontificate firstly I receive backlash from my own circle of family relatives using hurting hurling language regarding my Blessed Mother Virgin Mary ,it pierces my heart then as still does today, Now I understand how our Lady Heart’s is pierced in Our Lady of Sorrows when she at the foot of the Cross her Divine Son is being crucified and in today’s world many still reviled our Blessed Mother ,and always hurts 😔 piercingly .SAD.

It's interesting in the New Testament Biblical rendering of the Lord Jesus Christ's early life that there is mention of only one child when Jesus was lost for 3 days and found in the temple and seemingly reprimanded by His only Mother to her Only Child, the Son of God...the Only Begotten Son of God!

I had never heard of that art work insulting to Our Blessed Mother Mary and am shocked and appalled but sadly I guess not surprised in this vale of tears where as you state so many are fearful of offending others by our devotion to our Blessed Mother. The more she is insulted the more we must praise her and speak of her with hearts full of love for all that she is and all that she does. I lost my dear husband a year ago and when he was diagnosed with terminal cancer (and died a short 8 months later) I prayed and prayed for a miracle of healing for him- but always with the provision God's will not ours be done. As I cared for him I would hold his hand praying the Holy Rosary and Divine Mercy throughout the long hours of his illness and asked our dear Mother to please if it is God's will he must die for her to take him gently home as she took her Son, Jesus from the Cross and when he passed I felt the great comfort of our Heavenly Mother that she did indeed take him home. I feel so bad for my non catholic friends who don't know Mary and also for my Catholic friends who do not give her the honour she deserves - she is such a huge comfort to us as she is our Mother too whether we know her or not. Pray daily the Rosary, the 3 Hail Mary Devotions, the 7 Sorrows of our Heavenly Mother and give her honour and praise always . As Padre Peio says - for no matter how much we love, honour and praise her we could never match the love her Son, Jesus has for her.

I remember being a 5 or 6 year old boy walking in such a procession during Good Friday. Early in the day, two statues, one of the Sorrowful Mother, the other of Christ carrying his Cross would each have separate procession and meet at the Church a little before 3 pm. Then after 3 pm, The 2 statues are hidden to signify the Crucifixion having passed, and a 3rd statue is introduced. This 3rd Statue is of Our Lady lamenting as the dead body of Christ lays on her lap. And this Statue would have its own far shorter procession going away from Church and the crowd is not allowed to follow the Statue for long and it goes away hidden. The ENTIRE Good Friday was spent on these 3 processions.

Mary was necessary. Not only as the perfect Virgin Mother of Jesus, but as the perfect representative of humanity at the foot of the Cross. God deigned that the Redemption of man would require man's participation: an offering of perfect adoration, thanksgiving, sorrow for sins, and supplication; even as Christ's tormentors mocked Him. She was the first to cooperate - and offers her children the perfect example of how to work out their salvation.

Sad. I was thinking of listening to this but this use of coredemptrix put me of. Pope Benedict has said this term is confuses the role of the Blessed Mother, and rightly so. If one looks at the definition in a dictionary and ignores that one definition is "equal to", then one is leading the church down the path of heresy. The Blessed Mother has so many beautiful titles that describes her role clearly. This one will cause division in the church and cannot be from God.
