My dad passed away from depression when I was 14. I remember this song comforting me. It's absolutely beautiful. Im 37 now and the ending still gives me goosebumps. Miss you, dad. Be kind to one another, people. And especially be kind to yourself. You matter. ✌️

Thank you 🙏 sorry about your father I lost mine as well when I was a young lad then lost my step dad of 20 years and as I type I’m in the hospital with my father-in law who’s 50/50 live or die so I needed to hear that I matter and be kind to each other thanks my friend 🙏🇨🇦

The song was on their second album released in 1998. From WiKipedia: The lyrical content in the song was about a dream vocalist Raine Maida had. In the dream, his father was dying in the hospital, but he arrives too late to say that he loved him. The song thoroughly explains it in direct context. This has become another fan-favourite Our Lady Peace song.

Probably one of the most underrated songs from the rock alternative era. Everytime i play this song to someone, they've never heard it and they instantly like it. For those who do know this song, it holds a special place for alot of people that lost their dads or anyone else they've lost. as i'm sure it does for Raine and OLP. And i know it does for me. Rest in peace, dad.
@mchevre10 жыл бұрын
I don't doubt you but how could anyone not know this song if they listened to 90s rock? Maybe its because I'm from Detroit and our alternative rock radio station (88.7) is actually from Windsor, Canada (directly across the Detroit river) so they play Canadian bands much more often.
@RedceLL197810 жыл бұрын
mrgoat86 yeah i was in upstate ny at the time. "Clumsy" was pretty huge at the time, and 4am got some airplay too but not even remotely as much as Clumsy or Superman's Dead did and i always wondered why since it's such a powerful and listenable song. Seemed to deserve so much more recognition than it ended up getting. Though we know it so well, you'd be surprised at how many people simply have never heard it, at least around where I'm from.
@miadees9 жыл бұрын
Joshua Jones Funny, I was also in upstate NY during that time and I must have seen OLP play at SPAC at least 3 times during "Big Day Out" tours and 4am did NOT, as you say get airplay frequency that Superman's Dead, Clumsy or Is Anybody Home? I am now in my 40's and stumbled on this for the first time. Even 102.7 EQX out of VT didn't play it. Great song, under-rated, as is the band. They don't make good music like this anymore. I am happy to re-invigorate the songs of my 20's and 30's . Nothing but CDs during my road trips..lol

He's like a walking image of the father that I never was close to.. but he's losing himself to drugs. I remember hearing Our Lady Peace on the radio when my depression first started at 13 after my dad left,it showed me the emotional side of life for the first time, and now he has shown me this song.But I can't lose another father figure.And I can't save you,what do I do? It's painful if I stay but it would break my heart to leave, and try to show you what you're doing to everybody who loves you

Today I got a phone call that my father, who I barely speak to, is going to die soon. I live in another city and was going to download some music for the drive back home when I discovered this song. I had never heard it before, yet it's as if it were written for me at this moment. I wish I would've made better use of the time we had together, as he's heavily sedated and probably won't remember his last few days and my return. I'm glad there is music like this to help me get through.

I first came across them through, like I'm sure many here, through Chris Benoit. I loved his theme song of "Whatever" by Our Lady Peace, even though it was kind of almost a morbid reflection of the true monster that laid burid deep inside him, sleeping; only to be released once Eddie Gurrero left this world all too soon

It's a great song with a great message. It reminds me of all the wasted time I've spent hating those who wronged me through the years. Hate is all that's left when you're all alone and you have nobody else to blame for the misery in your life. Life is short. Live like there is no tomorrow, forgive like today is your last, and love like you will never see those you love again. Make every second count!
