A new season! My son was homeschooled for two years prior to starting public school. He is the most advanced reader in his class and ahead academically. Public school has been amazing for him socially and given him so many opportunities he wouldn't have otherwise, but homeschooling gave him that stepping stone which I'm forever grateful for. You will miss the flexibility and travel opportunities but your children will absolutely thrive in this new setting and the school will definitely be blessed by them x

It makes sense too. You’re already settling down and will probably never move again. Since, youre planting down roots. So, your kids can settle down with their friends with where they would be living for years. It is bitttersweet for another chapter closing but this is a Good Change 🥺🤍 This makes me so happy 🥺🥺🥺🤍🤍🤍 Stability for your family and most especially for your kids, honestly 🥺🤍

Special and memorable moment - the presence of Stephen’s parents, end of home schooling, Stephen polo shirt which looks awesome, water melon cutting style that Stephen mom showed us (which I liked it to), the dinner which started with prayer as always and above all the planting and the story shared along with. I can imagine the many good seeds that are being planted in minds of the children as well on us who are watching you from different place in the world. Truly a blessed family. Remain blessed for ever. Hope Stephen will feel better soon with his wisdom teeth. From Ethiopia.

I applaud you Amanda and Stephen for homeschooling your children up to now. The dedication that you both have shown in your children's learning is to be commended. I do personally feel that making the change to public school will be a very positive experience for your kids and the right decision. I am sure your kids are super excited to be going to public school and I believe because of your incredible parenting they will all flourish. Good luck Stephen on your dental surgery. Not fun for sure, but you have the biggest cheerleader rooting for you --Amanda.

There is value in public school that you just can not get with homeschooling. Being around peers of different social classes has value. Learning from people who share completely different world views, and beliefs is invaluable. Your kids are going to LOVE IT.

There is a myth that homschooled kids are sheltered and don't have friends. That is false. My sister's kids were homschooled a nd were in m any different activities and had tons of friends. Publi c school is not the onl y place for a child to meet friends or learn about different races

@@girly6201 Public school is tax funded state schools. There are expensive private schools also. Or home schooling! Most people go to public schools.
@135HA.583 жыл бұрын
@@girly6201 because public schools are tax funded based on where the school is located it will reflect the amount of money funded. E.g poor neighbourhoods public school won’t be funded as much as the rich. Public teachers don’t get paid enough in public school unlike their peers who work in private schools. There is more students in a class which result in teachers being unable to help certain students. Always can improve but privileged to be able to get an education when so many kids in other countries aren’t able to.

I was homeschooled for 2 1/2 grades. I excelled above my peers because of it. I was nearly smart enough to get moved up a grade when I entered public schooling. Get them all tested to see if they need moved ahead a grade if they haven’t already been tested. I wasn’t really challenged at all in the 2nd grade when I entered public schools. Wouldn’t surprise me if they’re ahead of their peers, too. I disliked public schooling. You learn at a slower pace, and you can easily get left behind if your mind wanders a second, and, you _have_ to wake up super early… Public school is great for socializing, though! 🤣

Agree! Some of our kids were falling through the cracks in public school previously and now they have been excelling in school and also become avid readers. I know that homeschooling has helped so much and even though it feels like public school is the right fit for this season, we will definitely miss homeschooling. So much flexibility and the kids got to travel to so many places to see first hand what they were learning about! We loved our homeschool journey. ❤️
