Congratulations again to Mr and Mrs Ngaleka.Lobola day is comedic, romantic and interesting.I remember our day, amazing and perfect…I loved it. We only did our ANC after our lobola. Hubby sent an email. We also had a discussion of the expectations so there would be no extortion. The calling of clan names was very funny…they only knew Mhayise and Ngele. I think woman should also advise their families to avoid a bitter lobola negotiation. How you start a marriage does a lot for your future. 💕💕💕

Some family members just make the process very frustrating . I'm just glad it's done .

My lobola day I had goosebumps and at that time i didn’t know enough about what is gonna happen I just wanted things to be done after my then boyfriend proposed we have been together for almost 10 years now and we r about to do a big traditional wedding …during that 10 years I learnt a lot … we stumbled and fall through learning and discovering each other but one thing I’m grateful for is the fact that our relationship still looks like it’s I’m excited And ready ….our wedding it’s just our celebration of our journey together 👌👌😍

Your excitement is evident throughout the video, G. Congratulations to you both. 🍾 I wanted to clarify two cultural things as an FYI, concerning imali that was paid after you were identified & ugwayi wezalukazi/wogogo. #1. the money Tshepo's family paid after you were identified, is imali eyokuhloniphisa (umakoti). It is traditionally not money, but a scarf. As a sign of respect to umakoti (as with all people in general,) kwaZulu, she is not pointed at directly, but is drapped in the scarf. With modernization, that scarf is accepted as money... This is scarf is one that umakoti will wear when around her inlaws going forward & is threefold in nature. (in no particular order) 1. The scarf is a display of how well umakoti was raised, by dressing respectfully (which is usually a midi/long length dress/skirt, doek on her head & a shawl over her shoulders or another scarf across her shoulder-waist, but really is at the discretion of her family - until a time where she is welcomed into the groom's family, and they then prescribe what she ought to wear). 2. The scarf is a sign of respect to her inlaws (in the same way that she was respected; wahloniphiswa with a scarf), she is expected to maintain that. 3. Remembering that historically, the institute of marriage is entered into between a boy/man & a maiden (who is bare breasted), the scarf is a marker that intentifies the stage of life umakoti is undergoing (where she can no longer do/dress as maidens do), kufanele azothe & only at this point of life, assumes modesty. #2. Ugwayi wezalukazi/wogogo is the ingqaqamazinyo or mvulamlomo for the women in the bride's family... Because women do not sit at the discussion table, they must be presented with “evidence” of what happened at the table. For other families, ugwayi is asked for at the table, after the negotiations, & is how the said women are shown that things went well. On account of the women's modesty, ugwayi may be a token of encouragement to ululate (louder). The ululation is what would spark dialogue amongst the (women of the) community on the beautiful thing that's happened for Family XYZ, & outline the need for helping hands in preparing for the endless festivities that are still to take place - remembering that “it takes a village.” Makukhanye. ✨

I think there may be a misconception/misunderstanding or maybe my case was an exception I don't know. My part 1 of lobola was in February and part 2 was in a few months later then after that in September we saw a lawyer and signed a prenup and had umembeso and signing ceremony in November. The lawyer didn't let us know that once lobola is paid it's automatically in COP but then again she was white. The whole process was quick and cost us R3000. The lawyer and the prenup was actually recommended by our pastor during premarital counseling since he had done his through the very same lawyer.
😂 You two are hilarious and adorable ☺️, thanks for sharing this interesting journey. It would be interesting to sit and chat with you both. Congratulations 🎊🍾, my your union be blessed for eternity.

Lol ama China sikhaphe wona in our country cabanga. 🤣🤣 I can picture everything you're saying especially the cooking in the kitchen. 🥰🥰 I love how your family included you and were considerate of the plans you and Husbie may have had for the lobola journey instead of doing their own thing nje. Argh man so sorry the uncles had to put you through that after a successful lobola day man, lapho there's still other ceremonies coming for them to even think of splitting monies already, hawu. Lol yoh imagine losing your saved up lobola money, it's really not safe lana.
